A story about overcoming tragedy, and finding love after trauma and addiction.
Jacob Kasi was everything I ever wanted. She was intelligent, beautiful, and a kindhearted nurse. There was only one problem... we've been friends since the 10th grade. I was in shape now and a successful lawyer. So, getting a woman to fall for me wasn't usually a problem, but, whenever it came to Kasi, the woman I loved, I felt like an insecure teenager all over again. The good news is she’s broken up with her millionaire fiancé Brandon, and though he desperately wants her back, I’m more determined than ever to finally make her mine.
Kasi Jacob was my best friend in Highschool. After my parents died, he became my rock—my everything. I’m older now but I’m still a hot mess and healing from several traumatic events, so when Jacob confessed his love to me, I admit I was scared. Scared because I’m afraid to give into my feelings for him. Jacob and I are close, but he doesn’t know the darker aspects of my life. I fear disappointing him, but more than that I fear losing him as a friend forever.
M. Lee Woe has a degree in business and grew up in an abusive christian home. Her life is very private and has had some very dark moments. This darkness is often reflected in her work. There is an... honesty you will not often find from other authors. She loves to create beauty and sensuality in dark situations.
Though you will always find her vision twisted, her work is guaranteed to bring the heat and have you begging for more. If you're looking for soft, fuzzy, run of the mill romance, she is not the author for you. Her characters will cry, often in pleasure, before making it to their happily ever after.
I work as a nurse in a ward with addicted people. And every day I hear stories, if people dare to open up, that I recognize so much in Kasi's story. That feeling that the writer portrayed, the hopelessness, the tragedy, the regret, the self-loathing and the guilt, so recognizable. The feeling that you don't matter because of what you did (even if it wasn't your fault!), the feeling that you shouldn't be happy, the feeling that you should be punished. Everything is displayed so well! My heart went out to Kasi and what she goes through in her years of misery.
And how I found Jacob to be a strong man who goes after what he wants, whom he loves. As strong as he is there for Kasi every time, even though his presence sometimes weighs down on her feelings of not being enough. What a strength the writer brings to this character, even as he learns things he never wanted to know in her days of drug and alcohol abuse.
What a realistic story. Nice.
Recommended!.

I received a ARC for my honest review and that is what you’ll get.
She Will Be Mine is a nicer touch on childhood friends to lovers with a little second chance thrown in there. It was spicy from the beginning and has a good amount of representation in it. With miscarriage, PTSD, drug use, alcoholism, abuse and so on. It was a nice difference than the standard friends to lovers books all over. I understand what Kasi went through but she still seemed a bit selfish and one sided in her relationship with Jacob. Once she fully committed I saw the change and enjoyed reading further on.
I enjoyed reading this book and found I like a more representative take on friends to lovers happily ever afters.
Kas and Jacob have been best friends since high school. She is a lost and damaged soul who turned to alcohol and made many bad decisions especially while dating Brandon. Jacob has loved her for years, is nerdy but worked nonstop to become a hunk, and finally decides to do anything to show her loves her.
The story is heartbreaking, tragic, and describes how a supportive man can make a woman’s life’s dreams come true. The characters are flawed, the dialogue and drama intensely emotional. Building their relationship from a base of true friendship gives them tremendous insight and depth. A beautiful ending that gives hope for their future.

This book was so good and had me quickly hooked in. This is one of those books where I'm torn on if I should race to see what happens next or drag it out so it never ends... I loved it that much!.

That believing that the author depicted, the sadness, the misfortune, the lament, the self-hatred and the culpability, so unmistakable. The inclination that you don't make any difference as a result of what you did (regardless of whether it wasn't your shortcoming!), the inclination that you ought not be cheerful, the inclination that you ought to be rebuffed. Everything is shown so well!
My heart went out to Kasi and what she goes through in her long stretches of wretchedness.
Furthermore, how I viewed Jacob as a resilient man who pursues what he needs, whom he cherishes. However solid as he may be there for Kasi like clockwork, despite the fact that his presence at times overloads her sensations of not being sufficient. What a strength the essayist brings to this person, even as he learns things he never needed to be aware in her long periods of medication and liquor misuse.
Kasi has gone through a ton of relatable hardship, having lost her family then a friend, so no wonder she's scared of losing Jacob. They're friends but their connection and chemistry is intense, so it's hard to not progress into more--but w/ that comes the risk of losing it all.
It was easy to understand the motivation between the two, him wanting to love and protect her, and her hiding the darker parts of herself from him. In the end, he helps her face her demons and teaches her what real love is like, so no complaints here--and that's not a spoiler because the journey to get there and the interpretation of what that means is something you'll never expect. You thought KROVS by this author was good? That was just the beginning but nothing re-tread.
Though this bangs on so many tropes, it’s so fast paced and intertwined with humor and tragedy that it stands on its own. This isn’t some cliché billionaire, wanting to lock up a plain Jane, it’s about a real relationship with lawyers and a messy will they/won’t they break up. The friend zoned Jacob is a former bespeckled, braced anime nerd who went down a similar but nice path—outwardly. The girl who always takes back his douche best friend is driving him round the bend.
We have the sweet sadness of the cooly named Kasi wanting a family more than anything after so much abuse, showing a little one all the nurturing it should have. So many books these days have trendy FMCs that for no reason rant about not wanting kids because it would somehow make them more miserable than binge drinking/drugging. So this is refreshing. The FMC has love to give, not just do things out of duty. And she wants to start anew with Jacob but it’s realistically hard when her ex is always flashing affections and án affluent life at her. This makes Jacob understandably lash out verbally sometimes. Not viscerally, but in the way he wants to help crush their bad patterns.
Most chs of switching POVs end on á dry humor line. The splattering soup, crotch kneeing, animal visits, braless and towel-clad awkwardness are some of my favorite surprises. You could say things get morally gray, but the girl is always down. She really does still love or lust after both and I like how the “bad guy” still has his tender human moments. At times Jacob seems less appealing, too femininely mushy or feckless or wannabe mysterious. He gives me the ick á li’l compared to putting up with Bran’s dominance for the lifestyle and intrigue. He’s at least way more predictable. Obviously we need the conflict though to keep the story rolling and it does with good callbacks. I’d kinda prefer á prequel though just about the “bad” guy and his seediness.
I thought Kas said she never seen Jacob kiss yet then there’s á flashback to her seeing á GF making out with him abruptly. I do like this scene shows her in another light though. I’m also glad all the sexy scenes actually add something. Backstories or insight into insecurities/obsessions, they happen based on melding scenes and themes in new ways.
The events halfway in were truly surprising, unique, with multiple modes of regret and wallowing. Aw and then cute animals! This is more romance than smut. Though it is still horny. It seems Jacob is either hiding his personality or doesn’t have one, á spongey shapeshifter, or creepily movie “perfect” minus his erotic actions that kinda flip flop/are hypocritical. I just don’t trust/believe him, making the other guy more reliable in á way.
Ends fitting for genre. No annoying cliffhanger. Weird to skip someone’s wedding night though it’s often done. Time jumps to tie up loose ends (I’d have made section breaks more obvious or transitioned.) Bonus prequel ch.
You should also check out her story The Secret Smile from In Filth It Shall Be Found if you like truly dark tales. That also involves trauma…but in á less healthy way.
To start, this is the first story I’ve had the pleasure of reading written by M Lee Woe. It follows along the story of Kasi and Jacob, and how he’s loved her for years but never had the courage to make her his… until now.
This story touched me deeply. As a woman who has had very poor experiences in my dating life, and my own demons within my mental health, I very strongly related to Kasi’s story, past, feelings, demons, etc., etc., etc., all the way down to her very own self sabotaging. I genuinely cried reading this. Following along her journey, through her healing, and at the very end, her happiness, was a journey I can only hope to experience for myself.
Jacob. Dear, sexy, sweet and GOOD, Jacob. I love him. I love how he loved her, how he saw her for who she is, accepted all her demons and flaws, and how he really gave her strength through her healing process. His character was beautifully written, and the true image of a man I can only hope to one day meet for myself. The way he took his time to always think of Kasi, what makes her happy, and the best way of going about helping her to heal was so touching and so wonderful to read. I also loved how he set his own boundaries of what he would and wouldn’t accept from her, which I feel isn’t always written into a story like this. I truly hope I can find a Jacob who would be willing to support me on my own healing journey the way he supported Kasi.
I also loved the bonus chapter at the end - a flashback memory of how these two met 🥰
The only small complaint I have is the ending of the story felt a little rushed, but that just may be me being selfish in my desires to read more about them 😂. I would absolutely read this again, no questions asked.
Truly, thank you so much for this ARC. It’s been a while since I’ve been this touched by a book.
TRIGGER WARNINGS ⚠️: Pregnancy loss Family loss A VERY misguided Master/slave relationship (not with Jacob) Drug use and abuse Alcohol abuse Abusive past Coercion
Tropes 🥵: Friends to lovers Praise kink Rope play 🥵🥵🥵 HEA
This book may cover some troubling subjects for people. It covers death of family members, suicide, miscarriage, addictions, rough sex, dub-con, sexual assault and some BDSM depicted in an unhealthy way by an ex. The FMC and MMC are best friends and have known each other since high school. Kasi and Jacob never dated though. In high school they were both different people. Jacob was nerdy and shy. Kasi recently called off a engagement and now Jacob isn't going to waste the opportunity to show Kasi how he feels. Kasi has emotional problems and has bad coping habits. Kasi's ex is also not willing to let her go. This book is pretty spicy from the start. Kasi's relationship with her ex was extra spicy but toxic. Jacob is a quiet man but in the bedroom he turns into someone unexpected. Jacob has several kinks that you would not expect from him. Jacob wants to be everything for Kasi, she just has to accept him. I definitely like the vows. They were very meaningful to Kasi and Jacob. Kasi had to learn she was worthy and deserving of love, only then would she give up dating all the jerks. I always love what the future looks like for the couple. Obviously there are some dark some dark subject matters but that is necessary for Kasi's journey. The whole book isn't "dark" though. Tropes: friends to lovers, erotica, explicit, praise kink, dubcon, pushing boundaries kink, romance, and dark romance.

Great, well written romance that has more sex in it than I expected, as well as a hae for the main couple. There's a bit of drama here and there and the story doesn't tax the brain.
Jacob and Kasi eventually find their HAE because Jacob cares enough to be persistent. At first I felt that Kasi was just using Jacob's friendship and it felt a little fickle when she started to change her mind only when she noticed his teen body had become a gym body. However, I forgave her when I accepted that her shallowness was probably born from all her past trauma and the psychological effect it had had on her.
The story touches on lots of emotional issues like death, miscarriage, abusive relationships, drug addiction and alcoholism: too many for the story explore in depth, which was, for me, a bit of a loss for the story. However, all in all, this is a great story and it eventually delivers the feel good factor!.

I had the opportunity to get this ARC and let me tell you I enjoyed it from beginning to end. This was a friends to lovers trope and lots of spice. Kasi was struggling with self-guilt, substance abuse and relationship traumas. During all this her best friend Jacob has been by her side. Jacob had loved Kasi since they were kids but never found the strength to tell her until life provided him one last opportunity to be honest to her about his true feelings and be able to pursue her. This was an emotional journey for Kasi. She experienced the loss of loved ones early in life, emotional abuse from past relationships but thanks to Jacobs support she was able to find her inner strength, emotionally heal and learned to express her love. I honestly could go on about this book, but I don’t want to give it away. Thank you to the author for give me the opportunity to read this beautiful story.
Although I love smutty books, this one just wasn't for me. I didn't like Kasi, her character, or her coping methods. It just plain annoyed me. Jacob was only slightly better. I liked that he finally found the courage to go after what he wanted, but the way the story began just couldn't hook me. It's the first couple of chapters that should interest the reader, but I couldn't find it in me to care about any of these characters.
Still, the smut was descriptive enough to warrant a reread if you're into the darker side of sex. I might just skip the main plot and head to the smut if I decide to read this book again.
Jacob has been in love with Kass for years and last year her boyfriend proposed and Jacob realized he was about to lose the love of his life. Now fortunately for Jacob, Kass’s fiancé had cheated on her so they relationship was over according to Kass. I wish I could say this story was a simple boy loves and pines for a girl. But Kass is really a tragic character, she lost her family, a best friend and she was an alcoholic who occasionally drank. Kass had issues with sex, she liked abuse and degradation. Kass loved Jacob but felt like she didn’t deserve him. This story was about a person realizing that they deserved to be loved and treated lovingly. Great story.
I received an ARC of this book and I really enjoyed it. I truly loved Jacobs character. He was so devoted to Kasi. To the point it was almost awkward at times. Especially when Kasi wasn’t ready to admit her true feelings for Jacob. There was drama that arises during the story testing them. However, in true romance story style they resolve their issues the next day. I think the biggest shocker for me was Brandon towards the end of the book.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. If your looking for a friends to lovers, HEA, and with some added TW than this may be an enjoyable read for you too.
My first book from this author, but definitely won't be my last. I was just looking for a quick pallet cleanser between my usual darker fair, and this ended up deliverying plus some! It was just dark enough to be complex and interesting, but just light enough to be romantic and sweet. Kasi was relatable, sometimes painfully so, and I found myself really invested in her journey of self worth and recovery. Jacob on the other hand was just the right mix of alpha but caring, and I loved how he worked through her issues with her with dignity and no judgment.
Jacob has also been in love with Kas from high school. Having been friends since then. Kas has not made good decisions, alcohol and one of them is Brandon. Jacob has grown into a handsome man who still feels love for Kas and wants to save he from the relationship she is in, and to claim her for himself. The character are flawed but wonderful, emotions and a brilliant ending.

Great story and characters. Jacob has hidden his feelings for Kasi for years, and as an opportunity presents itself and he confesses his feelings for her. Kasi puts herself in harms way, and Jacob as her best friend always helps her. Kasi is terrified if they become intimate, if something happens she will lose Jacob. Jacob must battle for her love and he's in it to win it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
There was something about the characters in this book that I was able to make a connection with. Their friendship was cherished by both of them but in that same thought it just wasn’t brought. Kasi the female character was always going after the dark bad boy type and ended up engaged to one and that was the second that Jacob realized he needed to do something.
The book had its moments of laughter and sadness but happy to see it through and to be able to watch their relationship grow.
My first book I've read by the author and I was impressed and captivated from start to finish. Jacob and Kasi have combustible chemistry but is it enough to give them the future they crave? Make sure you check out the warnings as there's a few difficult topics addressed throughout. Expect plenty of passion, challenges and a bit of drama throughout too. Enjoy!.

This was Jacob & Kasi's book. Jacob was her best friend in Highschool. After her parents died, he was her rock—her everything. Now she's a hot mess and still healing from several traumatic events, so when Jacob confessed his love she got scared. Loved this book. And am voluntarily leaving my review.
The way Kasi dealt with her trauma felt complex and realistic, and I adored the way Jacob loved her without condition or judgment and was willing to work through her issues with her. It was as sweet as it was sexy
This friends to lovers romance with a hint of rough sex and a dash of bondage gets three stars because I felt that the story was rushed. Jacob and Kasi have been friends since high school and after Kasi breaks up with her fiancé, Jacob realizes it’s now or never and makes his move.
There are sex scenes with multiple partners, a smidge of dubcon, but honestly this was not as dark as I was expecting from the TW’s. Even though I read it in one day and in one sitting, it is more because of how short the book was than how interesting it was.
Overall, I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it, but I liked it. I wish it had more dark elements and that it was longer but if you like shorter books with hints of dark themes, this will be a perfect read for you!
3.5 stars. I enjoyed the story as a whole. Bad guy ex, great friend that wants more. I had a harder time with Kasi. She was strong, then weak, stubborn, then a doormat. Her past helped flesh out her actions more, and in the end, I liked her more. I feel like there was a bit too much explaining in the book. I can't really pin point it, but I just felt like something was missing to really pull me in and get me invested in the story. I received an ARC from Booksirens for my honest review
A very fast paced romance packed with a roller coaster of emotions! I’ve explored mostly enemies to lovers, so this was my first friends to lover trope. At first I felt the book was going to be “innocent” with a little dark/spice type romance but the author surprised with the level of spice! Don’t get me wrong, I loved it - I just wasn’t expecting it. The sexual tension was great & kept the story going. It wasn’t as dark compared to the books I’ve read, but I loved the balance between it all. To me, I considered the book to be a light read. The only thing I felt was that the story was a bit rushed. I also expected Brandon to cause a little more chaos. The way he was written sounded like it would take more than what the story unfolded to stop him pursuing Kasi. Usually I get dissatisfied when a book is too fast so I took my time with this one. Glad I did and I loved the ending! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Unquestionably a masterpiece! The characters are wonderful and story is very engaging. Seriously, this was one of the most enjoyable, pleasant, and romantic books I've read in a while.
This was a fast read. My biggest gripe is how tragically relatable Kas is. Take all my insecurities and put her in a character. Nice twist on the end with the loose end ex. The fast forward caught me off guard, but in a happy way. The bonus at the end was great, how they met! Again if you're looking for a quick read, it's a great time filler.
She Will Be Mine was a little bit darker than I expected a friends-to-lovers story to be, but not in a bad way. The author navigated fairly well through some difficult topics but readers should still take note of the trigger warnings before starting the book.
Kas and Jacob’s story was very sweet and the steaminess did ramp up by the end. I do wish the story either started earlier on in their friendship or provided more “flashbacks” so that you had a better idea of why they were so close from the beginning. Nevertheless, I did find myself rooting for them to be together and enjoyed seeing their relationship develop through the obstacles.
This was a good read and better than I was expecting when I started reading it. I would definitely read more by this author. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I usually don't enjoy friends to lovers books for many reasons. However I do like the way this one played out. The story itself did seem a bit rushed however the sexual tension kept me going! The character development was pretty good with Kasi and while Jacob didn't get as much of the same love as Kasi he was an enjoyable character. I might be alone in this but I was kinda rooting for Brandon.
Everything was a bit predictable and the ending was too but overall was an enjoyable story and would recommend to those who love a good friends to lovers with an hea.
