After rifling through the first installment in this series, Impeding Justice, I picked up this sequel with some apprehension. Sequels have a tendency to disappoint, and Final Justice just couldn't keep the pace of its predecessor.

The pace and action is still good in this one, although Final Justice is a bit slower. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. The slower pace was used to add more depth to some elements, including description and scenery and character development. The setting in France is detailed, evocative and very well done, and reflects the fact that the author, Mel Comley, lives in France.

The extra attention to character development did add depth, but unfortunately not in a good way. The protagonist, Lorne Simpkins, a kick-ass, headstrong and cocky detective lost much of her appeal. Her lack of assertive behavior and constant and dramatic mood swings did not make her more endearing. At times, she almost was a whiny, angsty and not too smart woman, and she lost much of her appeal.

Overall, Final Justice is still a fast and enjoyable read, but it misses the snappy machoism with a distinct feminine touch of Impeding Justice.

I seem to be at odds with most of the others who have reviewed this book, but I just found it to be desperately poor. The first quarter made no sense at all if you had not read the earlier books - there was some sort of recap at that point. The main finance plot by the villain, the Unicorn, made little sense and lacked credibility and anyway was irrelevant to the rest of the book. The dialogue was limp throughout. For a civilian to be added to an MI6 team at the drop of a hat totally lacked credibility. I had bought the next two in the series on a cheap Kindle deal, but I have just removed them and deleted them from my want-to-read list

Having read Cruel Justice and Impeding Justice, the first 2 books in this series, I was desperate to read this third book. Hoping for answers in this third book, I wasn't disappointed. An action packed read when Lorne joins forces with MI6 agent Tony Warner. This is a must read book in this Justice series!

Blimey, it's not very often I read a whole book in 24 hours, but this one just did it for me. I really enjoyed the first two installments, and this one didn't disappoint either. The focus on Lorne was most welcome, and it's rather nice to find out that she's not just supercop and supermum (or whatever you are when you try to be the best of both), she's also a woman, with her weaknesses and her faults. It makes her more credible as a character. Even though that means there is a bit less action compared to Impeding Justice, it's still an awesome chase all across France.
And the Unicorn deserves a nomination for the baddie of the year.
I am SO looking forward to the next book in the series ! In the meantime, I'd better go and catch up on some sleep !

This is the third in the series and is set a year after The Unicorn escapes from Lorne. She has left her job, divorced her husband and is on her own. Then she receives the phone call to say that Tony Warner has located Baldwin againa nd so she sets out to France to track him down. This book wasn't as fast paced as the previous one but I liked the change of place. It allowed the characters to really develop.

I find this story just a gripping as Impeding Justice. As I said in my review on Impeding Justice this series is as good as the Alex Cross series that James Patterson writes. Nevertheless, the only thing different is that I think Lorne Simpkins is better looking than Alex Cross.

I am looking forward to read the next book in the series, so Mel keep the quill going! xx

Good mystery

I read this last book to find out what was going to happen after the first two books. While it was a good read I found it a little far fetched that two people alone were going after such a dangerous, brutal, cunning criminal. It still kept my interest and I would recommend the series.

Baldwin , not so bold

Another excellent story featuring Lorne, having reached rock bottom following her resignation from the Met. Her divorce from Tom final and Charlie living with him, it just Lorne and her dog, Henry.
Recovering from a bender the night before, her hangover is interrupted by Tony Warner, the MI6 agent who had her back during her final dad of unicorn hunting at the Met. He was the only one who believed the unicorn or Robert Baldwin , as they had identified him to be, was still alive.
Tony wanted her to fly to France with him, as Baldwin had resurfaced.
After stating what she thought of that idea, Tony stated he would be on a plane to Paris that evening with or without her. Adamant that no way in he'll was she going with him, she found herself boarding a plane to France that evening.
They track Baldwin to a large chateau, and find he is involved in stealing art.
A few confrontations between Lorne and the fugitive, and nothing has changed.
Their liaison in France, a capitaine and his partner, starts badly until he tells her how sorry he was over Jacques death, stating he was one of his best friends. Somehow she ends up sleeping with him.
Tony & Lorne take off on their own, following a lead, without notifying the others - they don't trust either of the French officers - on their return the captained goes ballistic and kicks them off the inquiry and back to England.
Further intelligence from MI6, sees them returning to France on the trail of Baldwin.
Lorne is abducted by Baldwin, but manages to escape.
The finale is excellent, no prizes for guessing who has the final confrontation with Baldwin! And yes she does get to kick him in the balls.

In this book you see Lorne now an ex police officer who lost her marriage and then the man that she loved. She was a shell of her former self when the book started. It showed how her life had worn her down with all of the bad things that happened to her.

Closer to the mid point of the book I saw a glimmering of the bright radiant Lorne that I loved so much. She had a fire that was slowly rekindling and I loved being on this leg of her journey.

At the end of the book you see the vividly vibrant Lorne that has made this series so brilliant.

Couldn't have asked for more with this book. MA Comley really hit the nail on the head with this book. one of my favourite books of hers that I have read.

This is the third book in the Justice Series by M A Comley and books 1-2 have been exceptional. To say the series is totally gripping and 'unputdownable would be an understatement. It is about a British, Female DI by the name of Lorne Simpkins who, with her team, are attempting to apprehend a particularly violent, devious and despicable criminal who thinks nothing of using, then killing people. He seems impossible to apprehend and has a knack of escaping from even the most impossible situations whilst staying under the radar. As I really can't do this series any justice, excuse the pun, nor can I properly describe it without including spoilers. It's a fabulous series, composed of several books and many different stories. Such a talented Author. Very Highly Recommended.

bigger than life cartoon story

This Review, kind of covers the ark of the first three books in this series final justice. It took me a little bit into the first book to really realize that the characters really are drawn in a cartoonish style. You have the larger than life villain, who seems to be omnipotent and the heroin who is irresistible to men.

While entertaining, the stories lack the realism, that would make them really great. The seeming pace of the activity which takes place in a very compressed timeframe is literally unbelievable, as is the way the police respond to all of the criminal activities.

I think Comley put together a nice package of entertainment here, but it isn’t a great detective story , or even a great spy story.

This is the third book in the Justice series by one of my favourite authors – M.A. Comley and I am delighted to finally be able to share my review with you! I will admit that am “a little behind” in working my way through this series and have read quite a few of them out of order (the last one I read was her latest release…) but I am determined to get them all read in 2018!

As with all the books I have read so far in this series (which includes quite a few of the novellas), this one is well written with a highly addictive plot that gripped me and kept me entertained.

In this book Lorne is no longer working for the MET following the incidents that happened in the previous two books so we get a different side to her, she doesn’t have the backing of her team to support her and she has teamed up with Tony Warner, an MI6 agent with a view to capturing her nemesis – The Unicorn.

Final Justice runs directly on from the first two books so I really do recommend that you read them prior to this one as for me this story wouldn’t work too well as a standalone as the plot is very much linked to what has happened previously and you need to know the back stories of the characters from the outset to enjoy it fully. The first two books are great so I would really recommend that you read them anyway if you are looking to get your hands on two great police thrillers!

4.5 stars from me for this one rounded up to 5 stars for Goodreads and Amazon, a really enjoyable read and looking to reading more about Lorne and Tony and I am just about to start the fourth book – Foul Justice!

Best so far!

I loved this book for many reasons. It was intense from start to end, it had all the right twists and turns, and surprises left and right. We got more insight to what makes DI Lorne tick, and got to see a different side to her completely. The plot was original and fantastic, and it was a fitting ending to this storyline. I did not stop reading this book once I started, and it was so good time passed quickly, until the next thing I know, I'm done with the book! Off to #4!

Like the first two books in this series, I enjoyed this from page one. However, once again I found the villain too over the top and thus also unrealistic and Lorne's character began to become irritating. Overall though a great, easy read that I thoroughly enjoyed and which rounded up things quite nicely, however this may be the last Justice book for me.

Another great book!

This book kept me at the edge of my seat and couldn't put down. In police work sometimes you'll have to use your own intuition like Simpkin. She was a brave lady to handle Balwins. That man needed to die and the person to be killed by had done her and family wrong. It was a great suspense book. Thank you. Now on to book 4

Nowhere near as good as the first two. The sequel lack credibility, bordered on the ridiculous. Ex DI Lorne Simpkins seem to have a complete change in personality. It was beyond belief. The ending was so predictable and the Epilogue wasn't really necessary. Only reason it wasn't two stars was because I raced through this simple easy read.

Finally!

Finally, the end of the really, really bad guy! Money, power and greed are powerful things! Money and power can be used for good, greed never can! This, the third book finishes the story of one mans quest for power and riches, killing and destroying lives as he acquired them!

Impeding Justice & Final Justice.

At last he's dead, and at Lornes hand, inadvertently. So glad she's found happiness with Tony.

This was one of the most excillerating rides I've taken in the books with the Unicorn as Lornes 'Nemisis'.

I must now read on hoping Lorne and Tony live together happily.

Hooked from the first page.

I would advise wouldbe readers to read the first two books in the justice series first, to understand the concept of this book. The whole series had be gripped each one read in a day. Unputdownable each one.

God this series is just so good. And the fact that the unicorn has a chilling name "Baldwin" makes you feel every emotion when reading about this horrible vile man. So incredibly written and the twists and turns are necessary and not forced. Absolutely loved reading these books!

Lorne Simpkins has seen her life fall apart at the hands of The Unicorn. First he killed her partner, then raped and tortured her daughter and kidnapped and brutalized her father. Now it's Lorne's turn to find and exact revenge on Baldwin and bring his reign of terror to an end once and for all.

good read

This story follows on effortlessly from the previous book. However, it was rather frustrating at times as Lorne seemed to be all over the men in her life. Didn’t quite expect the ending as it was though

Outstanding

So far the first three books have been superb. I can't remember the last time I read books that left me shaking with relief but also heartbroken at the same time. A hundred percent praise for this author's skill and I can't wait to read the rest of this set.
