Stock Options + The Executive's Guide to Equity Compensation provides a comprehensive, easy reading treatment to the complex area of stock options and grants for the busy executive. From the boardroom to the mailroom, individuals with stock options or grants will benefit from the quick reading question and answer format of this book. If you have a question about your stock options or grants, you are likely to find it answered in Stock Options + The Executive's Guide to Equity Compensation.
It is obvious reading this book that the author is a professional advisor, and that he is definitely not a professional writer. Further, the editing is rather poor as numerous typos were in the text.
That being said, this book was certainly not a waste of time. The author delves rather deeply into the breadth of stock options, restricted stock, and other forms of executive compensation. It can certainly be used as an initial primer to get a broad-based understanding of common, and also some uncommon, executive compensation techniques and employee grants.
However, The only really major critique I would give is that while he give the aforementioned broad-based knowledge, at times he goes without giving enough depth. It would have been helpful if the eluded to techniques to help the reader gain a better grasp of a direction they should take. It seems at times he gets mired in the actual filing of the taxes for these different types of executive compensation grants, and not enough substance on the basic non-qualified stock options, incentive stock options, and restricted stock.
