I’m giving Tempus four stars because I thought the overall concept was incredibly interesting and I enjoyed the book. It was really good for a self-published novel. However, I think the details of the story could have been a lot stronger. Especially the way the beginning was written and the whole time travel explanation parts.
Spoilers throughout:
The beginning was way too long. It took forever to get to Gabriel and the heart of what was going on in the story. After I finished it, I see why some of this was necessary. However, I think it could have been rewritten and tightened up a lot. I also think there was too much Steve. I get that Steve represented another choice – what could happen if Gabriel was never there, or came late. But I think the author included a few too many encounters between him and Jessie, especially because he doesn’t really matter in the end.
Case in point (SPOILER): What was the importance of the whole plot point of Jessie and Steve planning a trip on four wheelers to visit the old homes? They keep talking about it and planning it, but in the end don’t go, and it doesn’t matter. That’s an example of one of the very detailed plotlines that served no purpose. It’s always made clear that Steve isn’t ‘the one,’ making all the details about his relationship with Jessie – and constant kissing – rather unnecessary. I may be old fashioned, but I was annoyed by the fact that Jessie and Steve made out constantly when they were together, but Jessie insisted that he wasn't her boyfriend. WHAT??
The first part of the book especially read more like a rough draft and could have used some good content editing. Jessie (over)explained everything she was doing and thinking, even lots of mundane details that were not relevant to the plot, causing the first third of the book to really drag on. Also, in an effort to convey certain information to the reader, it felt like some of Jessie’s thought processes were forced. I could see the writer saying to herself – ‘I want the readers to know this information, so this is how I’ll have Jessie bring it up. But I’ll include that she could be ADD just incase it’s not a smooth transition.’
The whole time travel concept was quite confusing and I never really figured it all out. I felt like I was getting a lot of half explanations and partial information. It seemed like the author was having trouble explaining it herself – as it doesn’t seem like Jessie ever “got” it either. I think the whole paranormal (time travel) part of the world could have been built and explained better. I never really figured out the “observer” vs. “traveler” vs. ‘interceptor’ thing. Was it something you were borne with? Or a job that you got? Gabriel kept calling himself a traveler and his dad an observer, but his dad could travel as well. And I never got a clear picture of what they did – or whom they worked for. Gabriel kept saying “we” in italics, but nothing was clear beyond that. It seems like their abilities ran in families, but I didn’t get if there was a society or group that set rules or governed everything. It just felt like there were a lot of time travel/paranormal ability plot holes and I’m hoping that a lot of this will be explained in a future book.
The last chapter has a lot of cryptic information about Jessie and her mom’s talents that I hope will be fleshed out more in the next book. It seems like we only got a ‘glimpse’ of Jessie’s powers. We also never find out the significance of Jessie’s mom’s name change.
I don’t usually notice a lot of grammatical errors, but the one thing that really bugged me was the excessive use of italics. The author italicized words for emphasis, but went WAY overboard with it.
Despite all this, I did really enjoy the story and look forward to the next one.

This book was so good! I loved the characters and story. It had surprises and twists. I laughed and cried. It had one of the most amazing endings ever!
The main character Jessie has an ability to see the past by touching things like antiques. One day she touches something in her dads antique shop and she sees someone from the past that can see her. She spends a lot of time trying to see him again, trying to find out who he is or if he was even real. She also starts dating her first crush in the mean time, but then she ends up coming face to face with a guy who looks like the guy she saw in the past! Hes as gorgeous as she thought he was or even more.
She still has to try and find out if she really saw him in the past or not, and who he is. She also starts having strange flashes of memories that couldn't have happened. She can't really talk to anybody about it because nobody knows about what she can do, not even her best friend.
The whole book is really good, but the standout has to be the ending. It was fantastic. One of the best I ever read. Wow, Umm, Yeah, I’m sticking with WOW! You know when you find a book that hits you on an emotional level, one that keeps replaying in your mind... Tempus is just such a creation. Within the pages of Tempus, you will find an extremely complex creation, incredible, mind boggling story. At first, I thought the principle was close to Ground Hog Day, but it really was so much more. Trya Lynn wove together time traveling, fate, soul mates, love triangles, deep friendship, family bonds and happiness that hinges on remembering what time has rewritten into a truly incredible read. My only issue was the beginning was a little slow going but all of a sudden I realized I was reeled right in. Looking forward to Arcanus...I'm hoping that the next book will explain more about what was eluded to in the last chapter. Still dealing with the WOW!

So by the 2nd page I’m hooked by Jessie’s “glimpses” when she touches antiques. I love how the author doesn’t waste time and just jumps right into the story. If I like a book right away it’s always a good sign. This story line was something different than I’d read before ~ from dreams to time travel ~ which is what makes indie books so refreshing to me.
So there’s a decent amount of “omigods” and falling in love in half a minute, but I needed to remind myself the characters were young but they were not whiny….I could totally live with this. The mall scene was a little silly, but not enough to ruin anything. I felt the chemistry and was rooting for Jessie and Steve straight away. Then it got even better. And soon enough I was rooting for someone else too. At first I could guess what might happen next, but it certainly didn’t stop me from turning the pages, then I couldn’t guess what would be next and it was even better.
At points I felt confused or wondered if there was a mistake in the book. I had to go back several times and reread, but then it all plays out and that is what makes this book so good. I can’t wait for the next book, Arcanus, which according to Tyra Lynn’s website will be out in January 2012. In an email to me Tyra also says she has a million ideas and would love to keep going with the series. I hope there’s enough interest generated so we get our books!

My first ever 5 star rating. I've done lots of reading lately and loved many of the books, but Tempus moved me in a way they didn't. I can't put my finger on what exactly moved me most...the characters who were wonderful and vivid, the love story that was a delicious slow burn, the premise that fate plays such a strong role in our lives or the realization that there are those who willingly live with sadness and devastation as they wait for the perfect time to unite with their soul mate. Obviously it was all of these things that touched me and I can't wait for the next book!!

I won't give a synopsis of the book, the author and other reviewers did a fantastic job of that already, I just feel that I am about to burst about why people must read this book. I have to say this is my first ever review I've been really compelled to write, and I read and don't usually have time to review because I am too busy reading, as in sometimes 2-3 books a week. So the fact that this book moved me to write a review says something! Tempus actually had me reading until the very wee hours of the morning. Which is always a good sign, being a Mom of 2, when I will put a book ahead of sleep! A book has to be realllllllly good for me to lose sleep.
After I finished reading Tempus by Tyra Lynn, I made a list of things that usually do not apply to all the Indie YA paranormal romance book I've read. But in this case all of the following pleasantly surprised me:
1. That this book affected me on a deeper level. It moved me. The romance was so touching and beautifully written that it really really got to me. I am still thinking about the characters and the story.
2. Tempus is absolutely, without a doubt, so well written that it belongs on the shelves of retailers alongside best sellers and NY Times Best Selling Authors.
3. Piggybacking on #2, Tempus even though it is the debut novel for the author and first in the series, it reads like author Tyra Lynn has written dozens of novels and is a seasoned pro. It is THAT well crafted.
4. The romance, oh the romance. I could write a whole review based solely on it, but won't as to not give away any spoilers as this is the the core of the book and it unfolds so beautifully that to spoil it for anyone would be cruel. All I will say is that the romance has layers, it builds, it takes you on a ride, you feel what the characters feel. Tyra Lynn creates nuances and subtleties so lacking in the " let's rush to the I love you part" seen in too many YA romance novels out there.
She creates a who, what, why, when and how the characters not only fall in love, but actually love each other. It all falls into place. Of course it isn't too placed out for us in any way, it wouldn't be a romance novel based on the premise of fate if it were! Rather though, she gives the characters the instant "WHAMMO" that makes us swoon but then backs it up and writes the story so so beautifully that we believe it, we feel it! We know that the love they feel is real, and why it is. All because of what had been written.
4. The supporting characters. Oh how happy it makes me when an Author puts as much thought and care into the supporting cast of characters as the female and male leads. As well the setting and how much I can picture it, believe it exists. I could picture this world. I believed this world. This to me is a sign of not only a great author but a great book.
5. The Paranormal aspect was different than most out there, and that to me was appealing before I even started reading. I love a good shapeshifter, vampire, fae or zombie book as much as the next paranormal fan, but give me something different that is pulled off successfully, and you've made me a fan! The romance and Paranormal are intertwined and both essential to the plot. Both had to be written with finesse and played off each other successfully for the book to succeed, and again Tyra Lynn manages to pull this off like a pro.
I had heard great things about Tempus before reading it, but it actually exceeded my expectations, which does not happen very often, more often than not it gies the other way or else I say, yeah that was a good book! Tempus was a great book! I cannot stress how effortlessly it was written, the story was not rushed, it was well paced without me ever once feeling frustrated. It flowed as it should, I appreciate that time was taken for things to develop, because in the end it was all so very very worth it!
Now there is one thing in the novel that gave me a bit of pause and apparently I had that in common with the main character Jessie so I didn't feel that bad. I really was a bit confused when details of the important Paranormal aspects of the book were being explained by two of the major characters. Now I do not believe this to be the fault of the author, maybe a re-read by me is in order, and I usually re-read my favorites books anyway. However, I am hoping in the second book maybe I will gain a better grasp of how "things work...exactly, or well I'll settle for roughly".
I think perhaps though my favorite parts of the book were the quotes at the beginning of each chapter, all by notable people in history , all pertaining to the notion of "time". I thought this to be a very neat touch to the book, and very pertinent to the plot.

There was so much to love about this book, and I did love it. The main character started off a bit unevenly - but quickly developed into a favorite for me. I was very pleased with the dialogue...so often in 1st person narration, the best prose is internal. But in this story, the heroine (gasp) expressed her thoughts and was able to articulate the motivations for her actions. Unfortunately, considering how utterly romantic this was, I ended up not getting a very good sense of the love interest(s), or the friends for that matter. I can't really put my finger on what was missing there, but hope for slightly strong(er) characterizations in the next book.
I haven't read very many time travel plots, and this felt fresh to me. However, there were some odd leaps & inconsistencies that seemed partly set-ups for a sequel, partly due to the author (or me) being (perhaps) a little confused. Instances of somewhat fuzzy logic took me out of the story more often than I would have liked. For example, the analogy scene was disappointing b/c I thought that could/should have been more powerful. Other fixes: just a few grammar & spelling issues, definitely weird puncutation in the dialogue. Most importantly, the ending was given away at one point...in a few words...which made something that should have been a jaw-dropper into an anticlimax.
Overall, this author is a definitely one to watch and I really enjoyed Tempus. I want to say that the quibbles I listed are really all that kept this from being a 5 star book, in my opinion. Try it!

This book made me think A LOT. Its plot was carefully thought of and very well written. I admit that I have little interest in time travel. A friend recommended this to me and luckily, I liked it. :)
Jessie has been seeing things by holding / touching an item. These visions becomes more intense when Gabriel comes to her life. She was able to see this gorgeous guy through a mirror and yes, he was able to see her too! Then all the madness with time shifting begins. Frankly, I just scanned through some pages wherein they were explaining stuff about time traveling. I was just focused in the interaction between the two main characters. Jessie has been seeing things by holding / touching an item. These visions becomes more intense when Gabriel comes to her life. She was able to see this gorgeous guy through a mirror and yes, he was able to see her too! Then all the madness with time shifting begins. Frankly, I just scanned through some pages wherein they were explaining stuff about time traveling. I was just focused in the interaction between the two main characters. Ever since I read A Wrinkle in Time back when I was 8 or 10, I have been a sucker for stories about time travel. 'Tempus' was very enjoyable, finally. At first, it was a little frustrating when the reader was only given glimpses (pun intended) of the mystery surrounding the antique mirror, the guy seen in a dream before being seen in real life, etc., while the main character goes shopping and oohs and aahs over her new cellphone and the cute boy she's dating. But then the story gets to the good stuff and I have to confess to staying up way too late at night reading it. The author makes us ponder ideas about time travel and fate, while giving us characters to pull for (I think I'm halfway in love with Gabriel myself). I thought the romantic scenes between Jessie and Gabriel were especially well-written, probably more so than the dialogue, which I found to be a little stiff and unnatural in places. The ending of the book is satisfying, with an intriguing twist, but brings up way more questions than it answers, so I was glad to turn the page and see that a sequel is planned. I really want to find out more about observers and interceptors, time resetting, and the role certain people play/played/will play.

So by the 2nd page I’m hooked by Jessie’s “glimpses” when she touches antiques. I love how the author doesn’t waste time and just jumps right in. If I like a book right away it’s always a good sign. This story line was something different than I’d read before ~ from dreams to time travel~ which is what makes indie books so refreshing to me.
So there’s a decent amount of “omigods” and falling in love in half a minute, but I needed to remind myself the characters were young but they were not whiny….I could totally live with this. The mall scene was a little silly, but not enough to ruin anything. I felt the chemistry and was rooting for Jessie and Steve straight away. Then it got even better. And soon enough I was rooting for someone else too. At first I could guess what might happen next, but it certainly didn’t stop me from turning the pages, then I couldn’t guess what would be next and it was even better.

Let me begin by telling you that I felt Tempus was slow to start but once it picked up I loved it! The love in the story was beautiful through and though. There were times I must admit that I was throughly confused but it made me feel for Jessie as she seemed to be as lost as I was, lol. The end was what stole my heart, it was amazing and I applaud Ms. Lynn for her dynamic ability to give closure as well as ensure readers will be anxious for the next book.

There is just something about this book that sucked me in from the beginning. Time travel, true love, destiny, pain, joy, patience...its all there. A completely different twist for me in the YA paranormal genre! I laughed, wanted to cry, sighed. The main female character was so likable, so real, so warm, so teen...the main male character was definitely sigh-worthy, honorable, yet desperate and determined. Wonderful writing! I can't wait to see what happens next!

This book was breathtaking... I cannot wait for book #2. Tyra Lynn has an amazing ability to pull a reader into the world she so cleverly created with her vivid, beautiful and descriptive writing. I admit, I was a bit lost (but still fully engaged) in the beginning but everything falls into place perfectly in the end. I highly recommend reading this book.

Really, really good. One of those can't put it down have to force yourself to stop and go to bed kind of books. The author did a great job introducing us to her world. Jessie & Gabriel's connection is just- Wow. I definitely wanted the story to keep going.

In reality, I would give this 3.5 stars. (Come on Goodreads, where are the 1/2 stars?) I liked the story a lot, although it was a bit slow in the beginning. But by the end I was totally hooked. I'm excited to read the rest of the story!

I was going back and forth on whether to give this book two or three stars. What save it from receiving two stars was mainly the romance, the side characters and the 'driving force' that pulls the reader into the story.
What I did NOT like was the main character (MC); Jessamine/Jessie and the beginning of the story and somewhat the plot.

While reading Tempus, I was sucked into a magical, fictional world that I don’t completely understand yet, but I love it all the same. Tempus is the first book in a new time travel series by Tyra Lynn, and it’s wonderfully written because you are introduced to this new world where a lot of your questions are answered, yet it leaves so many unanswered questions for the second book in the series, Arcanus.
The only reason I put this book down last night was because my eyes were completely dried out and could not stay open for a second longer. I started reading again the second I woke up this morning, and I didn’t stop until I read the last page. Needless to say, it’s addicting!
The beginning of this novel is really good because you are introduced to a lot of the characters and Jessie’s unique gift - she sometimes gets “glimpses” into the past when she touches an object. The middle of this novel was extremely fast-paced, a little confusing, and very entertaining. There is so much going on, and this is also when you start finding out about a whole nother world – the world of time travel. Jessie the main character has a hard time grasping everything and because you, the reader, are on her level of thinking it is hard to comprehend everything. I will admit that I still have many, many questions. However, this is a series so I have no doubt that my questions will be answered over time. The end of this novel was extremely confusing but perfect at the same time. When I started Chapter XXX, I screamed so loud my boyfriend thought I was dying. I wouldn’t be surprised if the neighbors heard me screaming. I was so baffled that I completely lost it. The world, however, did not end. I continued reading, and by the end of the novel I had a huge grin on my face again.
I can’t really explain what happens in this novel. 1) It would ruin the discovery for you. 2) I don’t understand it 100% yet, and I can’t put into words what I do understand. However, I can say that I strongly recommend this novel to people who enjoy paranormal, romance or time travel novels.

Tempus is one of the most interesting and strong concepted books I'v ever read. Especially the whole time travel thing (love it!!). The cover is good enough. This was my first historic romance novel, and I don't think I could get anything better!!!!
To start with the characters, first the MC, Jessie was awesome!! Yeah, she was always a bit confused and in need of help from her BFF Julie, but she was strong, confident, and...lets just say she liked to be herself. An awesome girl with plain old common sense, reasonable thinking and normal teenage behavior. Then, Gabriel.....Gabriel!!! Okay, every fictional guy I'v ever known,no matter how romantic or good looking, I would keep them all aside for Gabriel!!! He's the most romantic, protective (but not overprotective), witty, cute, sweet, blue, blue eyed, handsome, beautiful, smart, lovable, and absolutely adorable guy ever!!! Oh, and did I mention he was romantic?? He is so romantic!!! To move on, we have Steve. At first, I kinda hated Steve just like Jessie did, but as the book progressed, and he got some sense into himself, I liked him. And I could smell a love triangle brewing there. Never got to meet Jessie's so called friend Katie, but her BFF Julie was a cute and supporting one.
Tyra Lynn has described a few things really well. First, Jessie's glimpses, I was hooked by them!!! In most books, the MC doesn't like the kind of powers she has, but Jessie enjoys what she has. But then, there are the cons. The beginning of the book took forever!!! Half the book was over when Gabriel finally came in. The starting pretty much revolved around Jessie and Steve. But, enter Gabriel, and Im actually drooling over him!!! There were a few things that were unnecessarily described too much, like Jessie and Steve's trip. And the time travelling thing?? Never really got it. It could've been explained better.
Tempus had one of the most awesome and interesting endings I'v read!!!! Im like, Oh please!!! Release Arcanus before I die!!! And I could assure you, you'd actually get obsessed with Gabriel. The two best things about this book?? 1. Gabriel, of course and 2. Originality. But there were a number of unexplained things in Tempus, so I hope all those are dealed with in Arcanus. And, at last, this review cannot be completed without these lines :
"You'll come back?" I asked.
"Pro te, milies aetreno." He placed my hand on his heart.
"And that means?"
"For you, a thousand times eternity."

Wow! Just wow. I feel so bad for taking this long to get a review up for TEMPUS. I had received it a while ago, even opened it up and read (and LOVED) the first chapter, but then got mad busy with edits and other projects that had deadlines. I am happy about one thing, though, NOW I get to dive right into the second book with little wait as it releases in January!
Jessie. My girl! Love a girl who thinks for herself, reasons things out, and just has plain out common sense. She didn’t do one annoying thing, like skirt questions to prolong plot answers (I don’t like that) and she had mad heart. I really connected to her, and rooted for her through the whole story. By the middle of the book, I thought it was going to be tough on my heart between Steve and Gabriel. The author did an amazing job on both love interests. And sometimes, for me at least, it’s hard to understand why a girl chooses who she does, or ends up with who she does. But I think the author is brilliant for how she pulled this off. I don’t do spoilers, so you’re just going to have to trust me that it’s done perfectly. In my opinion. I still love both guys, but I’m extremely happy and satisfied how things went for both of them. That’s rare. Although, Gabriel . . . swoon, baby, swoon! He’s the hotness. The characterization with all the characters was wonderful. I felt like these were real people, and I cared for them. Love the setting, town, and was immersed in the world, too.
Romance. If you are looking, craving, have to have something now that makes your heart ache and has you fanning yourself all at the same time, this is the book. Just the right amount of steamage balanced with heart pounding love. This is one of the most romantic reads I’ve read all year. And it was not roll-your-eyes romance; it was be still my beating heart romance. I also really loved the plot. I have not read many “time” books that can actually pull it off without making me scratch my head. I followed along with the logic here very easily, and also loved the new twist and original elements with the characters that were weaved into the theories. Very cool, and well done. A must read for everyone looking for their next favorite romance with a twist of paranormal.

YES YES YES...YES
Tempus encompasses everything a time-traveling book should have!
Beginning: The beginning reeled me right in and when I got to the part where the prologue connected with the rest of the story, I was literally on the verge of tears.
Ending: Wraps up the whole story very nicely...BUT there are plenty of loose ends that literally screams for a sequel.
Steam Level: Clean but all you fellow romance lovers, there are PLENTY OF BUTTERFLY-INDUCING,SWOON-WORTHY,I-NEED-TO-FAN-MYSELF scenes.
Plot: Writing about time-traveling is hard. For me, it's a hit or a miss and Ms. Lynn definitely hit the target. I just love love love the way Ms.Lynn approached this topic in the book. I could probably rave about how much I love this plot but I REALLLLLY don't want to give anything away... BUT! some people might say the relationship between Gabriel and Jessie kinda fast. I honestly couldn't disagree with you more. If you understand the world Ms.Lynn built with the "observers" and the "travelers", their relationship was perfectly paced.

JESSIE: I thought that Jessie was a very realistic kind of girl. She finally gets that chance with the boy she had a crush, but she doesn't just instantly fall in love with Steve. I mean the girl makes a pros and cons list! I haven't seen an MC do that ever in any book I have read.
Also, I found it relatable that Jessie reached out to Julie when things were getting paranormal.
Gabriel: GABRIEL. Now here's a guy I'd make a date with every night, day, midmorning. He is caring, protective and just so very swoon-worthy. He is also very tormented in the book. Now I'm not saying he is this brooding and sulking bad boy. NO. He is a little sad an a little more desperate and when you understand his situation, your heart will go out to him. In fact, eleven hours after reading this book and my heart is still broken (but then I remember the ending and I'm happy again yay).
Supporting Characters: They were not ignored in the story!! You learn a little about each of them.
CONCLUSION: Read.It.Right.Now.
I can't wait to see how the story progresses in Book 2 Arcanus

When Jessie touches things, she can see the past, which can be annoying when your dad owns an antique shop. But she's not complaining when a mirror shows her the most gorgeous guy she's ever seen - until she realizes that he's looking back at her. So of course this is when her longtime crush Steve decides to notice she's alive, and do something about it. The last thing she needs is for her dad to hire a new employee - until she realizes her mystery boy has stepped right out of the mirror and into her life.
This was an amazing read. Time travel and a love triangle - who doesn't want that? The story twists and turns; clues land quietly and reappear for a quick wink before the story's on it's way once again. This is the first of a series, and it accomplishes what many fail to do: it wraps things up while still leaving you wanting more.
Jessie is a wonderful character. She's a real teenage girl, calling her friends frantically for advice, and putting on a cute outfit for someone that might be a figment of her imagination. Her relationship with her father is sweet and awkward; and she struggles believably with the unbelievable problem of having two great guys to choose from.
Naturally there's a lot of "science" in a story like this, and it can get a bit bewildering at times(and time jumps). This actually enhances the story, as the reader is just as confused as Jessie is, and can empathize all the more. You search through the layers of the story as she searches through her layers of memory, discovering together.
Be prepared to be moved by this book - you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll startle people by yelling "OMG!" and "WTF?" when you reach the ending (seriously, it's happy dance time, and cursing the wait for the next one). If they were all like this, we'd never leave the house.

Jessie McLeod has always gotten glimpses of the past while touching objects that's why she loves working in her dads antique shop. To Jessie the glimpses are like reading books, some aren't so intriguing while others keep you coming back for more.
This all changes though when she touches a mirror and the past seems to be looking right at her. It wouldn't have been so bad if the guy hadn't been totally drop dead worthy and she hadn't been dressed like a slob, but the people of the past can't see her, right?
While Jessie's obsession over this mysterious guy borders on the extreme a guy she had a crush on in her childhood starts to show an interest in her. With everything in her life changing Jessie feels that it couldn't get any weirder, until one day it does. The guy from her mirror has been thrust into her life.
Jessie cannot help but feel like she must remember something important about this mysterious guy and the connection she feels towards him but she is having trouble figuring it all out. She wont stop trying though until she uncovers the truth even if it means changing the future she has all planned out.
I fell completely in love with this book from the very beginning. The writing was astonishing and the plot line was great. There are enough twists and turns, romance and suspense to satisfy the reader through the entire journey. This was a page turner for me and had me up until the wee hours of the morning just to finish it. I am keeping my fingers crossed that there is going to be a sequel because what a cliff hanger that was!

This book was absolutely amazing.
The story was astonishingly original. It was wonderfully confusing and it pulled me in from the start.
There was so much to the story, there were so many layers and it was like they were pulled back one at a time, very slowly throughout the book. Or like a puzzle needing to be solved. While the story wasn't exactly action-packed, it was engaging, gripping in a wholly different way. It also made me think, both in trying to understand the story, trying to find out what was going on and at the same time I had to think about what it would mean if something like it existed and what it might be like if I came across it.
I also loved the quotes at the beginning of each paragraph, they added to the story in their own way, made me think even more about things.
The characters were real, relatable and had depth.
Jessie was interesting, smart and funny without even trying. It was very easy to like her.
And I liked both Steve and Gabriel for different reasons. They were both well-written.
I also liked Jessie's dad. He was very sweet and it was very obvious that he loved Jessie.
And the ending was beautifully done.
Ultimately this book was something else, it was beautiful, sweet and while I'm still recovering from some of the confusion, it was worth the read. And I will most likely read it again, because it's just one of those books. And I usually don't re-read books.

IF YOU ARE A YA ROMANCE LOVER WITH AN INTEREST IN TIME TRAVEL BOOKS, THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU! AMAZING!!!
That was awesome! The romance between Jessie and Gabriel was so intense and the theories of time and energy were close to what I believe about the universe that this book left me breathless. I have to admit that I am surprised that I love this book so much because at first I thought it was kind of fluffy and stupid with her prancing around thinking she was suddenly hot but when she started to get into the time and energy aspects of the story, it was amazing. There are a good 30 pages near the end that I will happily admit I could't help but read at least three times.
This book was overall an awesome read and the theories that they propose about the universe are worth thinking about. While I am not particularly religious, I do believe in science and this book was a nice balance of both (if you read all the science magazines you'll know what I'm talking about :-) and didn't make me feel like it was some religious book shoving it's beliefs down your throat but at the same time did not dispute the aspect of a higher being.
I am very excited to hear that there will be a second book as the romance between Gabriel and Jessie is so overwhelmingly intense that it was hard to finish the book. I will miss them greatly and may have to read the last half a few more times before the second one comes out. ;-)

I don't think I've been as affected or moved by a book since Twilight...until now. I don't even have the words to express how I feel. I have read a lot of paranormal romance lately and loved almost all of them. Excellent writing, characters, plot...I have even felt completely engaged in the story. But this book was different. I WAS Jessie...no, I'm not crazy, but the author's words were like actual emotions to me. The scenes between Jessie and Gabriel were so incredibly intimate and intense without them actually doing anything! They were breathing or he was looking into her eyes. Absolutely incredible! I often found myself crying. And at the end, I did cry. It was so perfect and moving.
In the beginning of the book, I was feeling like Jessie was a little immature. I could tell the author was good, but I wasn't sure how much Jessie would bug me. But then I got to know her and it turns out she's just spastic (for lack of a better word) and energetic and fun! I loved her! She made me laugh right out loud sometimes with her musings! Her internal dialogue was often hilarious!
This is just such an amazing read that if you haven't decided whether of not to give it a chance...DO! I will be anxiously awaiting the next book!

Tempus is beautifully written, sweet story filled with romance.
Jessie has turned 17 and for her last summer before senior year she has decided to shake things up. She got a makeover from head to toe and everyone was in awe with her beauty. Steve, her childhood crush, definitely noticed that the girl who ran around with a natural beauty but did not put any effort on herself or relationships was definitely blossoming.
Jessie had a gift, of knowing and would soon come to trust on blue eyed, sexy Gabriel. She confides in him because......well she doesn't know why; lets say she feels a gravitational force toward him.
I love this story...I sobbed toward the end something awful. I became Jessie and I wanted; no I needed things to workout. Tyra added mystery, humor and some sexy moments which gave it an extra flare. I was rooting for her to break him (haha! When you read the book you will know what I mean). I feel as if this story was personally written for a Romantic at heart as myself.
After reading this book I feel that fate could be classified as our own personal Guardian.
RECOMMEND: HELL YEAH! Great book. Tyra, don't have us waiting too long. I want the story fresh in mind for book two.

I enjoyed this book very much, it was more about remembering the past like Forgotten than a time travel book.
There was of course some time travel aspect but there was too much information at once that I felt as confused as Jessie when Gabriel tried to explain the phenomenon.
The romance was great and I felt that the autor put a lot of work on developing each characters to have there own voice. I enjoyed the interaction between Jessie and her dad as well as the relationship between Jessie and Steeve. I felt bad for him like Jessie when she fell for Gabriel because he behaved like the nicest boyfriend and I liked the fact that there wasn't a good and a bad boy, that it wasn't an obvious choice.
The author succeeded to build an intriguing story but I was waiting for more action and answers.
The ending was well done and there was a nice twist I didn't see coming.
Overall, I'm looking forward to read the next book of the series and hope that there will be answers to my questions, especially about the glimpses and the return of a certain character.

I was going to rate this book a 4, but found myself thinking about it hours after I finished the book. Since that happened, it gets a 5.
This book is fantastic. It has a unique concept that I love and for most of the book I had no idea what was going on. A lot of the book I spent trying to figure out the situation. There were parts that I thought were predictable and I called what was causing the resets pretty early on (well, the first time that Gabriel explains the resets).
I loved the characters, the plot, and just about everything about this book. The only reason I was going to give this a four is there were parts that I found incredibly confusing and I had to stop and go back and re-read sections a few times. I'm still not sure I fully understand parts of this book and having to re-read parts (sometimes 2 or 3 times) made the book not flow as easily. Other than that, an outstanding book.
