Giovanni Boccaccio (1313 - 1375) was an Italian author and poet, a friend and correspondent of Petrarch, and an important Renaissance humanist in his own right and author of a number of notable works including the Decameron, On Famous Women, and his poetry in the Italian vernacular. Boccaccio is particularly notable for his dialogue, of which it has been said that it surpasses in verisimilitude that of just about all of his contemporaries, since they were medieval writers and often followed formulaic models for character and plot.
Nu drie boekjes in deze Easy Readers Italiaans serie A gelezen.
Honestly, very wacky. Following Andreuccio's misfortune throughout the short story and still managing to return home with the amount he left with was almost comedic. I liked the writing style even though I felt certain things could've been described differently. Overall good.
It is one of the short stories (30 pages) of the "Decameron" from Boccaccio, adapted by "Easy Readers" for students with a basic Italian vocabulary (A2 level, so more or less 600 words). I had to search only a few words in the dictionary ( I studied Italian for 1 year ... 22 years ago, so I lost a lot of other!). The "Decameron" is a collection of short stories told by 7 women and 3 men while staying in a countryside house to avoid the plague in Florence in the 14th century. This one is about a young man traveling to Naples to buy horses and what happens once he is there. I liked vey much and encouraged me to read some more books of this publisher to improve my Italian. This collection proposes books in different languages and levels of knowledge.
