I doubt that anyone on GoodReads actually cares about my opinion but the Internet allows me to write something anyway.
I don't know if I want to read this book. In some ways it would be cool, but under the same ideology (right word?) as the movie, I don't want to have my "image" of Clary and Jace (and all the others) ruined. I want to see them how I see them. Yet I cannot help but be curious about how this will turn out. I mean, it might even be (God forbid I say this) good.

I was intrigued by this failed first attempt at a comic adaptation of Cassandra Clare's City of Bones, but it wasn't available anywhere online, seemingly having been purged from the internet. But I managed to find a copy of all the released issues. I didn't except it to be good, but I was surprised at how bad it was.

The formatting was occasionally horrible, to the point that it attributed dialogue to the wrong character, one time having a character reply to themself. This incorrect attribution ended up dissolving a lot of the establishing character details from the original book, which was disappointing to say the least.

The art felt mediocre but not expressly awful, so I didn't mind it on the whole. I appreciated that Clary was actually short and not weirdly long but scaled down like the current comics seem to have her (I haven't read it yet, but the images I have seen seem to have her be that way; suffice it to say, she does not look a little over 5 feet in the new ones, she looks average height at least). Besides that, everyone has a strangely old-looking face. Idk but they're supposed to look 15-16 and they look 30.

Plotwise, not much to say: it's an abridged version of the original with poorly executed transitions and exposition.

My favorite part was definitely when it ended halfway through and the rest of the book was just an extended preview for an entirely different graphic novel. It was actually intriguing with a compelling art style and I'm definitely going to look into it.

I finally took the time to read this and my review? It was just okay. The illustrations worked, but the story felt really condensed. And some of the demons were, well, not exactly what I pictured when I read it.

Entertaining for the most part. I wasn't crazy about the art though, and some of the scenes were not drawn accordingly, the characters would be talking and the art showed them nearly screaming with deranged expressions on their faces when they were just speaking normally or having a bit of a disagreement, it was too exagerated.

Here I was all angry that the COB graphic novel was only going to be a digital release, that is until I came across this: http://books.simonandschuster.com/Cit...

Looks like it'll be published by S&S in hardcover/paperback format next year. It seems they are aiming to release it around the same time the movie is set to hit theatres (August 2013). Good news for me considering I LOVE graphic novels and equally adore The Mortal Instruments series =D

I liked the artwork in this graphic novel. This is my first graphic novel ever so I was pretty impressed. Compared to the movie and the book it definitely does get straight to the point with the important scenes.

Not much else to say, but great work :)

The artwork in this graphic novel is stunning! I really like the style and much like the movie/book it contains a bit of info-dumping. I wish they had adapted this for people who are already familiar with the story though and kept the plot moving.

Besides that, like most graphic novels this is short but it is kind of ridiculously short considering it is a continuous story from one novel. For example The Walking Dead Vol. 1 "Days Gone Bye" is 144 pages. Yes, you can buy it per "episode" which is six separate comics, each bout 23-25 pages, much like this graphic novel, but the entire Vol 1 is all together in one book and 144 pages. Not sure why Cassandra Clare didn't do this same thing. They are just too short.

WHAT?! That's it?! Only 20 something pages?! And it stopped in the scene where there's an attack in Clary's house. WTF. >:(

Too short! Will there be a next volume or something? I wonder. Sigh.

Who likes graphic novels made by the book it's a read for fans only. Not for me. Drawing are lousy and it's just informative but it may push you away from a book if you didn't read it.

After witnessing a murder, commited by three teenagers with strange marking and strange weapons, Clary Fray is baffled by what she had just seen. Was the victim a boy? Were these people even real? She tries to report it, but seems to be the only one who can see these teenagers. Clary had finally had her first encounter with the Shadowhunters, warriors designated to rid the world of freely roaming demons. One of them is Jace, whom she will be pulled into a journey of vengance with. Within only 24 hours, their journey begins when Clary herself is attacked by a demon and when her mother is abducted by the demons. Who could the Fray be? why would demons have quarrles with ordinary humans like Clary and her Mother? Clary nor the Shadowhunters know the answer to that. But they will soon find out along their thrilling journey to save Clarys mother and to get personal vengance.

złapałam przez przypadek, bo chodziło mi o tą drugą serię autorki (nie jestem fanką i dlatego mi się mylą ;)). znam tą historię bo chyba kiedyś przekartkowałam książkę i oglądałam pierwszy odcinek serialu, więc wiadomo - nic specjalnego. bardzo mnie zawiodły ilustracje, bo okładka zapowiadała coś fajnego.
