Written almost a quarter century ago, this book reads like a walk into the culinary world of Burgundy, as seen from the cooking for a French Chateau.

Beautiful photos, this is as described in the book forward; “This is a personal story” by Anne Willan and her castle … le Château de Feÿ.

It reads like a dream, very accessible, fun but the recipes require concentration.

Anne would later launch the “L’ecole de Cuisine La Varenne” in Paris. The bios of chefs of the time are intimate and revealing.

This book takes you very squarely into the depths of Burgundian cuisine as a participant.

Redundant with Country Cooking of France, but not as good. Since I gave that one 3 stars, it follows that this one gets 2.

I love reading this book, and the pictures are amazing, but I've never actually made anything from it and I've owned it for years.
