The Fateful Trilogy continues with Fractured. No, it’s not called Fractured because Ethan and Danielle break up...in case you were wondering.
They had thought they’d escaped most of the danger surrounding them, when in truth they’ve made it worse by unintentionally sparking a civil war amongst vampires. Many vampires want to protect them for discovering the cure to the curse binding their kind. However many more want to destroy them for that same discovery.
Ethan’s and Danielle’s struggle for survival intensifies while they sink deeper into the midst of this danger. The romantic fairytale bliss they once had will soon fracture under the pressure of the curse....
Cheri Schmidt writes fantasy/paranormal romance and is the author of Fateful, Fractured, Forever, and The Order of Curse-Bound Knights.
Cheri will say that her head is a very crowded place, and she wishes she could write faster. She will also tell you that if you do not like glittering fairies, hot vampires with British accents, knights in shining armor, the dashing Mr. Darcy, girly-girls who wear skirts, or large amounts of snogging, then perhaps her stories are not for you.
I am very glad that I won this book in First Reads. Cheri Schmidt entranced me with the continuation of Ethan and Danielle's story.
Cheri has written a vampire romance story for OLDER teens. This book explores the relationship of Ethan and Danielle on a differnet level. At the end of the last book, Ethan is cured from his vampirism and they are able to pursue a "normal" human relationship. It's not that normal because many in the vampire community are unhappy with the cure being discovered and are after the now human couple. They are forced to have a contingency of vampire bodyguards with them at all times. Some can be trusted and some unfortunately cannot.
There are some major twists in this book. I don't want to say too much and spoil part of the story for you. I will say that they are now in a vampire civil war and that they are the targets. This book is full of adventure, kissing, romance, friendship, and violence.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next one. I would like to see if the fractured state of the vampire community can be repaird and Ethan and Danielle can have a safe happy ever after.
This romantic fairytale isn’t all that it’s made out to be. I love how there's vampires wanting to be a human not the other way around. I also love Ethan’s, Danielle's Mr. Darcy, charm with a dash of wit. He can dance, cook, and more. I understand why Danielle doesn't like doctors, we are alike like that. I enjoyed reading those scenes. Cheri Schmidt was developed a world that has pulled me in. Danielle has it the hardest in this book, more than any one. My heart snapped in a million of piece at one part. Everything she goes through and yet she has to become what she doesn't wait to. I wish there was something I could of done to help. But nothing, not even the wolds perfect cup of tea could of help Danielle. I couldn’t stop listening to this book.Only four days, and I was at the end. I enjoyed the old-fashioned air that’s weave into the pages.
I adore the characters, the older vampires I would love to read back stories of. The plot was unsure, I never know really where the story was going to go!With unforgettable characters, trouble around every cover with a dash of love; I can’t wait to sink my teeth in the next book!
Wow!! If I had any doubts that the Fateful trilogy was like Twilight they got squashed as soon as I started reading Fractured!! Cheri Schmidt has created a unique twist to the common vampire story and I loved the new ideas!! I was taken on an emotional roller coaster and the ride has left me thinking of the book hours after I finished it!! I loved Fractured even more than Fateful!!
You must read Fateful in order to read Fractured and please do not read this review unless you've read Fateful- I don't want to kill the surprises! Now that Ethan and Danielle are cured everyone is after them and a war is brewing!! Ethan is mortal and fears he can no longer keep Danielle safe so there is a lot of tension! Plus on top of the struggles of just staying alive, Ethan and Danielle are struggling to keep their relationship pure...which reminds me so much of the struggles most of us would face when we are in love and trying to do the right thing!!
Again I say Wow!! Cheri has created this enchanting love story with Ethan and Danielle that there were times I felt the tug on my heart when there was bumps along the road!! Thank you Cheri though for not adding a love triangle!! Sometimes I get bored with all the stories that have love triangles in them and it just refreshing to read about a relationship that has the same two people!
The passion in Fractured left me breathless at times! I could not devour it fast enough! There are so many surprises throughout this book that I couldn't even begin to let you in on any of them...you must read to find them out!
What makes Fractured even better as that as the love story progresses so does the new and dangerous threats of war and the breaking of the curse!! This book has so much to enjoy; passion, love, danger and excitement, with a unique ending that will leave you begging for more!! How can I wait for book 3?? Cheri is a very gifted writer and I think there are more amazing books to come!
I received a free copy of Fractured by the author for my honest and personal opinion of the story!! I honestly wouldn't recommend this book if I didn't think you'd like it!!
Wow! I just finished Fractured and am impressed, there was a lot going on in this book. Ethan and Danielle seemed to have a little more ease at the end of the last book (even though they were heavily guarded and had curfews) with Ethan being relieved of the curse. Then the attacks on the two just escalate and their future together is rushed as they plan on being married. Then just one thing after another happens and everything seems so dire. Anyway, I like this story, it has that old-fashioned air to it that gave a wonderful tone to the world of Ethan and Danielle. I love mortal Ethan, he takes full advantage of life and loves every aspect of it, even his flaws are endearing and he continues his unwavering affection for Danielle. With immortals and creatures constantly after them they had some difficult decisions to make, some of them may have been made to rashly but that always makes the story more interesting. I like the writing style of the author and I can't wait for the final book in this trilogy!
I read the 2nd book in this series as I borrowed the trilogy in one. In the second book, the characters are again running from magical creatures that will try to hurt them and somehow have even more devoted helpers. I beginning to not like the characters.
This is the second book to Fateful by Cheri Schmidt. I loved this book. I waited for a year or two to read this. I gave up waiting to read this and I wish I had read it earlier. THIS REVIEW IS GOING TO CONTAIN SPOILERS! Sorry guys I tried to write this without but it would have been a crappy review without it.
Guys, how can I possibly express how much I loved this book? This book was an emotional roller coaster. I was happy one minute, confused the next, and ready to die after that. This book brought out so many feelings that not even the first book brought out. I feel as if the problem in this book had a lot more problems that built around it that really brought more attention to that one major issue. When authors do that they are basically on the edge of a cliff. They can either pull it off and remain standing on the cliff or they can totally botch it and fall off the edge. Cheri Schmidt made it work, and for that I salute her. I've read many books that the authors just made the story to busy, and they end being the stories where you are all confused and end up hating it. I was so glad that I didn't hate this book, since I gave the first one 5 out 5 stars as well.
Now let's talk about this plot. Ethan, I freaking love you! Ethan is such a romantic even if he can be a tad bit over protective. When he proposed to Danielle...oh my god...
Can we just take a minute? I was soo happy! I was on the verge of passing out. I never thought that he would. Ethan is such a romantic guy.
Then when they broke that news to Beoin and Sophia I was so happy! I was a bit confused by the sudden occurance of that topic. I thought Ethan had made it up for a second because he didn't want them to well.."hurt" Danielle. Then when they confirmed it I was just shocked. They had given no hint about it before. (If you wanna know what I'm talking about then READ THE BOOK! I don't want to spoil too much.)
Can we discuss Dorin for a minute? I really thought that he was a nice guy, of course he had to be a jerk in the end. Why do the evil guys always have to be somewhat kind at first? I really thought he would keep Danielle safe. Turns out not.
The concept of Lilith that this book provides isn't really a new concept but I like this book didn't portray her as someone who was evil to the core. She sympathized with the ones who really cared and meant no harm. She was given a heart in this book. She had been hurt and she was bitter about that but she still cared. I really liked that.
The last line of the book really made me give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. That last line is the line that caught my heart. It was the perfect ending to this book and hopefully it will make the third book just as good as the first two.
Guys go read this book, then write a review or just tell me how you feel about this book. Of course if you haven't read the first book you should probably read that first....
We join Danielle and Ethan (who is now human) who are now famous for the conversion back to humanity. Most would think this would lead to the happily ever after, but not so in their case. While some most hate that they have found a cure to the curse, others want the cure….badly. While their relationship flourishes, it’s cute to see them interact despite all the chaos their relationship has made. Some portions of Ethan’s romantic side did have me giggling as it seemed to me was over the top, for most it will be entirely just right. I have to say that I fell in love the side characters more than the last book. The quirky, most of the times funny/heartwarming portrayal of them left me wishing that they were real and I had to chance to meet them. Out of all of them I would have to say that the Highlanders and Max are simply my favorite. The Black Prince touched a chord in me as well (I likened him to the same character in Blood Ties the series) and laughed at his expense several times. They are heartwarming in their old fashioned ways, but very comical in others. The interactions in the house during Danielle’s imprisonment for her safety had me feeling for the poor guys.
Not all situations in this book are happy or cheery but at the same time nor are they depressing. (There is a tissue moment in the book, you have been warned!) Even though Danielle lost some of the independence she showed in the first book, it was nothing to make me want to throw my Kindle across the room screaming “seriously?!” She becomes somewhat more dependent on Ethan, but does show her old spark at several times in the book. While Ethan is truly romantic and loving at some points his “old time” views show themselves heavily. There is always the question of how much he likes being human or does he simply hate that he is now in a sense weaker. The chapters flew by in engaging way, but the ending did feel a tad rushed. While the book basically built up to a journey and a battle, it was over fairly quickly not even covering a full chapter. The feeling that it was squished or rushed there may simply because it’s not the main focus of the book. Personally a little more time with the build up and searching for both Benjamin and Lilth wouldn’t have been unwelcome, along with a battle that was a tad longer. I would have to say I was waiting for the book to “end” and leave us hanging with a cliffhanger to start up the excitement of the journey and battle leading into the next book. (But that is just my opinion and does not reflect poorly on the story in any way.). Ethan’s quick decision at the end had me wondering since he had been so conflicted during the rest of the book for his previous decision (I can’t say more without giving it away). Even though there were some small disappointments, this is a great book. The quickness of the ending and the way it ended had me hoping for a third book (which is in the works now) as it seems to leading to somewhere else.
This author has become a favorite and I can’t wait for what else she has planned. I’m looking forward to where the next book will take us.
Okay so this book started off 7,000,000,000,000,000 times better than the first. Well that is my opinion. So the romance is so much more developed between Ethan and Danielle. Instead of the few stolen kisses and feeling guilty about ruined reputation, they go for the more than kisses and Ethan starts to want more than kisses and Danielle is soon agreeing with him. Lets put it like this; I was on the very edge of my seat when I got to the engagement. I was so thrilled and then later on when she found out she was pregnant with a baby I was upmost shocked and so excited. I was telling everyone and anyone about the soon to come baby. So what happened next made my heart break and tears well in my eyes. I am not going to tell you what happens. So one thing about it was when they lost the baby. They weren't as sad as most parents would be if they lost a child. I would have been so sad if my child had been murdered. I would have probaly never be able to move on... But maybe Danielle was a fast person to get over things. I am just saying she really didn't cry too much over a lost babe...
All together, I liked the new character of Lilith, well she isn't brand spankin' new either but she isnt old. She was introduced in the first book as a sorceress. She is a sorceress in this book and a pretty cool, neat one toward the end. I imagined her to cruel and evil but she turned out being not that bad of a "bad guy" She was kind enough to give Danielle and Ethan pieces of candy to change them back when they desired it. So she wasn't a complete evil vampire. So here is what I liked about this book, most and agreed with all the way with Ethan: "Ready for baby number two?" ... Am I ready??? I desire a baby that will stay alive, that is if Danielle can still reproduce after being stabbed with a dagger?, I do hope she is because I want a baby from the two of them... I want one more than anything else. I want a little Ethelle ... So I am definatly getting my hands on a copy
The Fateful series by Cheri A Schmidt has a different and refreshing take on vampires. I like how the vampires are put together and describes. They are more human during the day and more of a bloodthirsty vampire by night.
Danielle is the main character and the one the books follow. This character is such a huge fan of Jane Austen that she herself is Jane Austen to a "T"! Danielle is a huge girly girl, but she took Karate since her parents made her to make her "stronger". She is a very complex character, but at the same time simple and easy to understand. One thing Danielle wanted when she moved to England was to meet her Mr. Darcy and she does...
Ethan (Danielle's Mr. Darcy) was a true gentleman despite the centuries he has lived through. His jealous and possessiveness come off as sweet and funny considering he can use a sword, and treat a girl like a lady. When these two met, it was like they both already knew they were in love.
I really enjoyed the fact this book had morals. Most books you read, the couple would sleep together after a little bit, but these two waited until marriage which is what both of them wanted. Ethan wanted this because of his centuries old age and Danielle wanted it because it meant something more to her. They took on present day issues along with paranormal ones. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get into paranormal romances or is a Jane Austen fan. Of course anyone else would love this series as well.
Cheri Schmidt offers another thrill ride with this sequel to Fateful. Ethan is trying to settle into his mortal life thanks to Danielle. While he is excited to plan a future with Danielle it seems that he is struggling with the loss of some of his immortal abilities. Danielle strives to overcompensate for the loss with showing him everything that his mortal life has to offer. Although, it appears that being mortal has its disadvantages when you have a army of immortals after you. Many more supernatural creatures are introduced in this story; adding to the danger lurking around every corner. As the news spreads far and wide that someone has found a cure for this curse; Ethan and Danielle will be forced to take drastic measure to ensure their safety. Many of which, will contradict everything that we had expected in this next book. With many new characters introduced in this novel; that I found quite intriguing and beneficial to this amazing story. While rest assured the well loved favorites from Fateful are still a large part of this story as well. I look forward to seeing what the final book has to offer, and where it will take Ethan and Danielle in the future. With love and loss this book proves to be as good, if not better than the first. Cheri Schmidt is a new, but talented author that promises a fast and invigorating journey in the Fateful series.
As stated above, this is the second book in this series and is not a stand alone book. You really need to read Fateful before this book.
3.5 stars
I enjoyed this book more than I did the first book. I liked the first book okay, it was a decent read but the second book was for sure better. I guess I like the mortality of the second book better. Ethan is now a mortal man, being cured in the first book from the vampire curse. I really felt his frustrations of not being able to completely defend and protect Danielle like he had as a vampire. He becomes dependant on others and it really frustrates him. I enjoyed the growing love story between Ethan and Danielle and their desires for a “normal” future with children. And, as with the first book, I enjoyed reading a love story without love triangle. It was just Ethan and Danielle working together against the world. I didn’t have to pick sides or choose between two hot guys.
While this was a pretty clean book, it isn’t one I would put into the hands of my 13 year old. There is a lot of sensuality which is, in my opinion, more appropriate for the more mature reader.
Unexpectedly dangerous and gripping with captivating characters who will make you forget every other vampire book you have read. Tristan once again grabs your attention and holds it until the very end. Again I am not a huge fan of audio books but Cheri has done well with choosing a narrator who ensures that you still love the story as much as if read on your own. For the second book in a trilogy I expected a little bit slower of a pace in the storyline was delighted at the contrary.
Ethan and Danielle are seamless characters who work together through turmoil both with each other and a new situation and with the outside world who threatens at every turn. Cheri has created a page turner for the readers and the audio version I constantly listened to from start to finish. I was left anticipating the next book while wanting to go back and re-listen to this one! Artistic, inspired and impeccable come to mind when reflecting on this book and I am anxious to listen to and read the third book and fully experience the ending to Ethan and Danielle’s story.
First off this is book two in a three book series. So if you have not read Fateful you will want to read that first.
And the story continues in I loved watching the relationship with Ethan and Danielle grow. Fractured is an exciting read that kept me on my toes with adventure, danger, magic, faeries, romance, some heart break and the unexpected twist and turns. I could not put this book down. I needed to see what happened! At the end I was very surprised at how things were left. I did not expect it. I don't want to wait for book three. I want it now.
Cheri has a gift for writing and having you feel like you are experiencing everything as it happens. I would highly recommend this fantastic read. But you need to read Fateful first as this is book two in a three book series. I will be reading this one again soon. It is a clean and refreshing read. I will be on the lookout for more from Cheri Schmidt. So Cheri keep those books coming!
This is an exciting continuation of the first book. Ethan is slowly adjusting to human life with the help of Danielle; however, he regrets the loss of some of his immortal gifts. Ethan and Danielle struggle some with their relationship, they want to keep it pure and healthy. There is also many twists to their relationship in the story as well, the author doesn't make any of the scenes easy to guess.
Danielle and Ethan's relationship will resonate with the reader. They clearly love each other, their relationship grows and develops further in this book. The secondary characters, particularly Max, Cedric, and Richard, round out the whole novel. They make the book even better if possible!
The events in this book are very unexpected in some ways, will definitely keep the reader on his/her toes. This has to be one of the best love stories I have read...didn't once overly remind me of Twilight. This book is highly recommended to young adults/adults.
LOVED this book! The story picks up where "Fateful" left off. After curing Ethan of the age old curse of the vampire, it appears she and Ethan have either angered vampires who are not happy about the cure, or Danielle is now pursued by other vampires who want her to cure THEM. Amongst all of this danger, the love Danielle and Ethan have for each other is as strong as ever, but waiting until they marry for the intimacy of husband and wife is becoming increasingly difficult. Can they survive the army of vampires who are hunting for them? The story has dramatic twists and turns and parts that made me cry, but I love a good romance, and "Fractured" did not disappoint. I can't wait for the 3rd installment of the "Fateful" series. How much longer??!!!
This is such a great read! It picks up right after the first book left off. There are so many parts in this book that I can’t stop thinking about. It makes me want to read it over and over again. Ethan and Danielle are finally together but they have so many obstacles that they have to try to overcome. I just love when there is a damsel in distress in a book and this has it. It gets my heart pumping when Ethan has to swoop in and save Danielle. Oh, Ethan and his magical breath. There is joy, humor, danger, and loss in this book but Cheri has written it in a way that is creative and imaginative. The details in the story make you feel like you could just close your eyes and be with them. I loved it!
This book picks up right where Fateful left off. Danielle found the cure to the Vampire Curse, and of course, it's Ethan who has been saved. There is definitely a lot more action in this book given everything that Ethan and Danielle have to go thru... I think this is what I enjoy most about this series, is that in order for them to have their Happily Ever After, or for all of Eternity, she doesn't have to turn into a Vampire. It's the other way around!!! I absolutely enjoyed it!
I was definitely looking forward to Forever, so excited that I bought it the day that it was released!!!
This is a wonderful sequel to Fateful. I loved it just as much as I did the first. The amount of emotion that I felt toward the fictional characters in this book is incredible... The same theme of love and romance is still potent, and is mixed with an escalated problem and fear continued from the first book. With many unexpected plot twists and turns it keeps you reading. I love the relationship Danielle and Ethan have and continue to maintain throughout the book. I would highly recommend this book and it is well worth the 2.99 it is priced at.
SPOILER****This story keeps getting better. Can't wait to read the final book!
I liked Danielle as a vampire especially when she had the chance to use her self defense skills as one and when she got the chance to strike at Celeste! I really thought that she wouldn't take the the red pill (seems she wasn't sure of it) but in the end she as did Ethan to change back! Will be interested to see what happens to them in the next book. I was really surprised and saddened by her losing her child by the hands of Dorin. (was not expecting that).
As much as i loved Fateful, Fractured was even better. There were joyful moments and heartbreaking moments and i loved every minute of reading it. I thought the ending to the first book was good, but the ending to this one was superb. I love how all of the books in this series are incredibly romantic, but also funny at just the moments you would want it to be. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone in need of a good read. but of course i would make them read Fateful first :)
The 2nd book in the Fateful Series. Continues where Fateful ends. Ethan and Danielle are married and happy but always having to look over their shoulders for impending danger. A lot of vampires don't like the fact that they found a cure for vampirism. The only way to ensure Danielle's safety is for Ethan to be turned again and go on a quest for help. I absolutely love this series so far. 5 stars all the way!
Like the first book in this series, I loved this book. I absolutely love Cheri Schmidt's writing style. If you have yet to read her books, I suggest you start now. I enjoyed that this book wasn't predictable, and included numerous twists and turns. I am anxiously awaiting the final installment of this series.
This was an amazing story! I Read it in 4 hours. If you loved the first one then you will adore this one. Their journey continues. After finding the cure the two love birds are adjusting to a "normal life" I dont want to give anything away but this book will not disappoint. Get ready for another book that draws you in and makes you fall even more in love with the characters!
Loved it! I hope to see more from this author soon! While I hope the series doesn't end with Fractured I can honestly say I loved the last line in this book. Pure brilliance, or should I say it was "scrummy"
Just Starting have the whole weekend to myself my child is away!!! Best segueal i have read in a while i cried i laughed and i felt happy at the end. everything in this book wove in together just right.... i recomend the series!!!
This book kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish! Never a dull moment. I just love all the characters in this book and love that she has put other mythical creatures in her book. Cant wait to read book number 3!
much like the first book in this series i absolutely loved this book. it was captivating, i could picture everything as I was reading. cheri schmidt did an excellent job with this and i cannot wait to read the third book in this series called forever!! thank you for being an amazing writer!!
