Truth or Dare #2

Telling the Truth

Rate this book
Truth or Dare. The Blake brothers upped the ante in their weekly poker game. When Terry loses, his debt of telling the truth sets him free.

Terry has lived his life according to the guidelines, by studying accounting, getting an MBA, and working for the family business. And while his work has its own rewards, something has been missing, and his eyes have only just been opened to what--or rather who--that could be.

Terry's brothers have upped the ante in their weekly poker game. A Truth or Dare challenge. Terry can handle any dare his brothers dish out, but the demand for Truth is a different matter. Terry is honor-bound to divulge secrets he’s been ashamed to admit even to himself in the privacy of his own bedroom.

Twins Dex and Trick have finally found acceptance for their relationship in the homes of their friends. They'd never do anything to jeopardize that newfound sense of belonging. Fooling around with their friend Mischa Blake's prissy, domineering, oh-so-sexy older brother is risky. A one-night stand might be okay, but they close ranks afterward, pushing Terry aside.

Terry isn’t going to back down without a fight. Dex and Trick are meant to be his, and he’ll do whatever it takes to make them realize all the safety and protection they need can be found in his arms.

So umm....I guess I should have left this one alone. I can’t say I liked it as much as I did when I first read it. I've our grown the writing and the overall cutesyness of the story.

^^I'M TELLING YOU THIS STORY IS AWESMAZING!^^

4.5

Lee Brazil is an author to watch out for. I am just in love with the Truth or Dare series, Keeping House was adorable and sexy, but Telling the Truth is 'it' for me. It has two things that I love in M/M some twincest and a ménage relationship. I just wanna rip my clothes off and run through the streets (to be avoided at all cost), I just love it so much.

From the first novella Keeping House, we meet the Blake brothers at their weekly poker game. They all tend to get a little over protective of each other, but their closeness and love for each other is very apparent. Terry has just lost his hand at poker and its time for truth or dare, and the saying “the truth will set you free” has never been more right. Terry is the good one, he follows guidelines and has never done a crazy or out of character thing in his life until… He saw twin Dex and Trick.

Terry has been a little in love with them for a little over six months, and while fighting his attraction he can’t deny that he wants them something bad. They are so hot together and he wants in on the action. When Terry hits up a gay club in hopes of finding someone to take his mind off Dex and Trick, the outing proves unsuccessful in the club. He does get lucky though out in the parking lot (take your mind out of the gutter).

All three hook up and things seem all good until the twin have a run in with Terry’s older brother. They know they have found something good with Terry and it will be hell to just give him up. Terry is no pushover though, he wants the boys in his life and he will have them. Screw what others will say; screw what his family will say. Its time he found his own happiness.

I love every main character in this series. I love the strong family bond they all share. Because if you are important to one Blake brother you are important to all. It might seem like this book is about sex, but its not. It’s about finding that someone you love or two someone’s, and finally gaining acceptance for just being you. I recommend you read the first book in the series, because they both move together. Just a really cute fun time, and if loving your twin brother is wrong then I don’t want to be right (cheeziest line I'v ever written).

My only beef is that I wish it were longer.

Since my love of ménage is no longer a secret I am getting recommendations for all the ones I've missed.

This was a cute, fluffy quick m/m/m read with a dash of twincest, a helping of evil, vindictive female, a smidgen of annoying pushy family, a spoonful of the need for procreation.

*Oh and Vio says the car is cool.* I have no idea and don't care, but it seemed important to her so I thought I'd mention it. ;)

So I am re-reading the series again and I am still enjoying it just as much the second time around.

I was going to give this one a miss due to the twincest theme which I really don't like, in the end I am glad I persevered. Trick and Dex were adorable I truly loved them and Terry was perfect as their man! Once again I wish that this could have been a longer story as the ending was a bit rushed. I enjoyed it very much a sweet read!

The only big issue I have now is that the next book will be m/f nooooo! Oh well I guess Lee couldn't make all the brothers gay? Even though I wish they were lol.

P.S. I love the cover the car is gorgeous!

This was a hard one for me. After reading the first book and loving it I was not keen to learn the next one would be twincest. Its a purely personal thing for me, I just don't like it. Actually I'm not overly keen on threesomes anyway, although I've read a few that have worked, but incest just doesn't appeal to me. That said I found the story engaging and I loved Trick and Dex, I even loved them with Terry, I just wish they hadn't been brothers lol. Again I would of loved a longer more detailed story, especially concerning the twins and their parents. I would like to read more about the other brothers, although making them gay as well might be pushing things lol. My only disapointment was the ending

I loved this book...The Twins are adorable and exactly what Terry needed to break free of his shell.

I always look forward to Mr. Brazil's books which are on the permanent to-buy list.

Thank you for writing a delightful series on the Blake brothers.

Oh how I was waiting for the older brother's books to begin. And what a great brother to choose to start off with. Terry. He couldn't stop with his advice where Mischa was concerned, so all I wanted was to see him get his own. Yeah, yeah, eventually I wanted him to get his happy ever after…but the evil "baby sister" in me totally wanted him to suffer first. HA!

Okay, okay, I empathized with Terry from the get go. Darn it. I really wanted to be evil. I just couldn't. Terry is such an anal retentive, black and white kind of guy, so to see him take six months to plot the steps to him having Dex and Trick was sort of endearing. It was really cute how he announced at the brothers' poker game that he was gay and the three others just took it all in stride and moved on to a game of Truth or Dare. This time Mischa demanded Truth and his brothers wanted to know what his darkest fantasy was. Funny they should ask......

Terry always thought he had a low sex drive since he wasn't ever really interested. Not until he spotted twin brothers, Dex and Trick, at Mischa's barbecue. It took about five seconds of watching them kiss to realize he didn't have a low sex drive, he'd just been with the wrong people. Dex and Trick noticed him, too, but they're not about to start something with Mischa's brother. Not now, when the twins finally have a group of people who accept them and the love they have for each other. Oh wait, I found my evil self and trust me, she isn't directed at Terry. Oh no. All my evil thoughts are for the oldest brother, Brandon, and I'm going to have a tough time forgiving him all of his blunders when I read his story.

I adored this story. Trick broke my heart with his sensitive, gentle, and vulnerable self. Dex broke it with his unswerving dedication, loyalty and protectiveness for Trick. These three were great together and I'm loving these books. I'm totally looking forward to the next one! Thank you, Lee!

Twincest seems to be a theme in some of Lee's book. Doesn't bother me still good writing. The story started with book 1 left off which I loved seeing some more of Mischa and Donovan. But Terry's story is great poor guy seems to just not have the luck. He see's his sexy twins across the yard and falls in love.

6 months later he final has the nerve to not only come out, but go after what he wants who is dex and tricks. There story is sexy and fun and just crazy at times.

4 stars. I was in the mood for a sweet, light read and this delivered perfectly. I liked all the characters (especially the sexy twins!) and thought this was a great addition to the Truth or Dare series. (though I'd love it to be longer, as usual!)

I am wondering if there will be more in the series? (I'd love to see controlling Brandon get his HEA...after some angst anyways!)

Way too focused on the sex, to the detriment of everything else

Warning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS.

Rating: 3/10

Okay, so I liked the brotherly dynamic here, particularly how accepting all the brothers are when Terry comes out to them. But that was about all I liked, I’m sorry to say.

The characters’ focus is so much all-about-the-sex that I had a hard time finishing the story. Here’s a good example: “I have to file a report with the police who should be coming any minute now,” [Terry said]. ‘Oh,’ Trick’s disappointment was hard to bear. Then his breath hitched, and he moaned again. ‘Terry, I … want you so much.’”

I mean, come on.
I feel like a more appropriate response to this, even with a new lover, would have been something along the lines of, “Police!? Oh my goodness! Why? What’s wrong? Are you okay? Are you hurt? What happened?” Not, “Oh. I … want you so much.” Besides that, some of the language used to describe the sex scenes, especially as pertains to the twins, made me cringe: “rosy mouths,” “marvelous eddies of heat,” “slender white neck,” “rosy pink nipples,” etc.

And there’s something about the writing overall that’s a little awkward. This is the first sentence of chapter 1, for instance: “Terry Blake sat in his customary seat at the green baize game table, waiting for Mischa, his youngest brother, to arrive…” But we’ve already had a prologue, which introduced us to Terry and to the fact that Mischa is his younger brother. We don’t need to hear it again, at least not immediately.

Overall comments: The sex here is told in loving detail, which suggests to me that this author might be one who writes because s/he enjoys writing sex scenes more than any other part of the story. Sadly, the rest of the story suffers, and I don’t find sex very interesting if I’m not first engaged by the characters and finding their situation believable.

Delivers what it promised but in a much less salacious way than I expected. I also didn't feel like I missed out by not #reading the first book in the series. 3.5/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐🌙

This is book two in the Truth or Dare series. While I enjoyed much of Keeping House, the insta-love kind of ruined the ending for me. This book does not suffer that. And oh, lookey here, me and menage again ... wheee. Dex and Trick, twin friends of Mischa from book 1, have caught the eye of older brother Terry. He's recently admitted he's gay, but is far too shy to act on his attraction to the two whom he sees often at Mischa's house, but when Mischa recommends he find a gay bar and check out the action, he ends up running into them, and it seems the twins have been hot for him as well. They have a great night and are thrilled that Terry wants them both, however when leaving in the morning are confronted by older brother Brandon who tells them to get out, and threatens to reveal their secret. Even though Terry tried to contact them, they decide it's best to just stay away causing much distress on all sides as Trick falls into a depression due to the threats. This is twincest, although they don't "do it" all the way. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea, but I did like both guys even if there was the typically fragile optimistic twin with his more jaded brother watching over him, and I was glad that Terry gave his brother hell for what he said. You also find out about the child Mischa and his BF adopted and that he's older and has special needs, which makes the all too sweet ending in book 1, much more palatable. So while I know this book won't be for everyone, I still enjoyed the author's style, a bit of humour and the fact that Terry had known the twins for 6 months before they got together made the fact that they moved quickly after that seem more acceptable.

This is another one for the easy read pile ... nice for when you need to relax with something quick and simple. We get more of the Blake brothers which is a lot of fun, but this time Terry is center stage. He is instantly attracted to twin brothers Dex and Trick, but has to work out his own sexuality before he approaches them. Even with the wait the book has an insta-love feel to it that romantics will definitely enjoy. The major conflict is handled well and quickly which leave them to tackle a few other issues as a team.

And while this trio involves twins, this in not a twincest story.

The only drawback for me was the baby at the end, another baby=family scenario. It didn't bother me near as much in this one, though, since there seemed to be a better "wait time" involved.

Oh my...! I made the mistake of starting this book before work this morning and had to drag myself away on page 20, when Terry and the beautiful, seductive twins finally... Okay, I won't tell you what's going on, but, yum! Now I have to wait until the hubby goes to bed tonight before I can pick up where I left off. Agony! If you're looking for a read that gets your blood singing in your veins and you breathless, this is the one!

Yea! I got my happy ending. Fun, sexy story full of true love and acceptance. Enjoyed every scene.

I'm so glad that the twins Dex and Trick got their story next, and I really enjoyed it! They're already hot just the two of them together, but add Terry into the mix? Hotness times a hundred. I enjoyed getting to see Mischa back as well, and I hope there is more in this series!

Well, how to explain this?

It's a sad day for me when twincest can't save a book.

I could not buy the twins being in love with Terry. (Or him being in love with them, but that's not as important somehow) It just seemed so out of nowhere, like they barely had any conversations--they just jumped from talking about the weather to sex to fights to moving in together and having a baby (??????) way too fast, it just made no sense. Also there were too many conflicts for such a short book and somehow they took too long to resolve themselves while also resolving in barely any time at all. Maybe if it had been longer or if their connections had been fleshed out a little more, I'd have enjoyed this.

Telling the Truth (Truth or Dare book 2) by Lee Brazil
* I received a copy of this book from Breathless Press in exchange for an honest review*

During a house warming party at his brother Mischa’s house, Terry spots Dex and Trick over in the corner. It is the hottest thing he has ever seen and he is more than a little turned on by it. After dancing around the twins for six months he decides that it’s time to make them his.

After coming out to his brother’s during their weekly card came. Little did he know, he is the selected target for their new Truth or Dare game? It was harder than he thought it was going to be but all he saw was acceptance in Mischa and Dan’s faces. Now he just needs to convince the twins that he wants a life with them and he will take care of them, no matter what’s in their past.

This book is Terry’s journey to discover who he really is. He hasn’t been happy with his current life for awhile. He has always done what his older brother Brandon wanted him to do, including the way he dresses, what he majored in at school, etc. Mischa gave him the courage to follow his heart and it led him to Dex and Trick.

The three of them are so hot and sexy together. It is easy for the reader to see that there is so much more to their relationship than just sex. The tenderness was evident in the little touches and caresses. I felt so bad for the twins after their run in with Brandon, I kept waiting on Terry to come out of his room and step in. In the end his family rallied around them and supported Terry and the twins in their new life.

Overall I really liked this story. There was so much love and tenderness shared between the trio. I can’t wait to read Brandon’s story next. This is a fabulous series that will appeal to many different people. I give Telling the Truth 4 Flaming Hearts.
