Voxeran Fated Mates #2

Ihr Alien-Retter

Rate this book

I love reading romance, baking (well... eating) cookies, and binge-watching sci fi shows with my husband. I'm a sucker for a dirty talking alpha with a heart of gold, and I write stories about fierce aliens and the strong Earth women they fall in love with.

Long trek home!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 🙃🥹☺️🤭

The heroine: Sadie - She has anxiety resulting from her former life, she grew up a child star and has nightmare’s of a man that made her life hell. So she went a bit crazy when she was awoken from a cryopod after crash landing on an alien planet. Especially after finding out her own government sold her as a sex slave to aliens in return for technology.

The Hero(es): Jaro - He spent years as a slave on a planet far from Vox. When he was stranded on the Alien prison planet, he spent days alone and nearly died before the colony of the Voxeran found him and let him join their community. He has learned to trust them after years, but is mistrustful of any strangers including the human women they found on the crashed space ship.

The Story: The group of Voxeran males and human females faces quite a few obstacles now that they are together. Though they are at the crash site and need to make it back to the settlement. Jaro and Sadie get separated from the rest of the group and have to make it to the settlement alone through some very dangerous circumstances. While they are alone together, they become close.

Like the first book in the series, this one was also told in dual points of view with dual narration. The narration was again done by C.J. Grey and Kat Auden. Both did a great job. Kat has a very pleasing voice which sounded age appropriate for Sadie and I just love C.J.’s deep and gravely voice which works perfectly for the huge alien males.

The one thing I didn’t really like was the amount and length of the steamy scenes. There were just too many and they spanned multiple chapters. Also, though the timing fit with the storyline, the time they spent in steamy situations while they were traveling through dangerous territory seemed a bit too much for me. I kept thinking they were putting themselves in danger by stopping to get busy when they should have just waited until they were safe.

I am totally in love with Jaro. And in love with the idea of he and Sadie together.
The circumstances of their coupling, and their own previous experiences before knowing one another, are beautiful and heartbreaking. This 2nd book was pretty intense. A lot of near death encounters that were balanced out well with deep emotion and passionate reveals... I barely remember book 1. Though I know I liked it, it was not nearly the gem this 2nd book is.

Please read series in order. I am off to book 3 now.

Based on books 1 & 2, I would recommend this series.

It been a while since I read the first in this series. IDK, just felt very cut and paste to me. I was bored half way through, was just hoping it would grab me again later BUT then it ended. It wasn't BAD it just wasn't really surprising. Popcorn, a bit fluffy.

Eh. I think this had quite a bit of potential, but no execution.

I get Sadie is in an impossible situation. Abducted from the only home you even realized existed, crash landed on a prison planet, and now you're trying to come to terms with the fact that THIS CAN'T BE FIXED. You're not going home. Add in the trauma of her own sordid past and yeah, I can see having off the charts panic attacks.

Jaro ended up there as a former slave, now Voxeran warrior after being found by his exiled King. He mistrusts these "Terrans", and rightly so. I would too, to a point.

What I can't really get on board with is the almost instant transition from two damaged people, wary of everything around them, to almost instant "You're my everything". I get the fated mate trope, but at least make it a LITTLE hard fought! I didn't feel any chemistry between them. It seemed forced.

Well, hell, I enjoyed the crap out of this book! It's just one delicious pile of steamy sweetness!

Once in a while, it's nice to read about a couple that's totally open and honest and respectful of each other from the beginning, and watch their relationship unfold. There was no drama, no bullshit. Jaro and Sadie we're totally committed to each other, no matter what happened, and it was so satisfying and sweet!

And damn, there is some good smut in this book. LORDDDD! My hubby tried talking to me at one point and I must have jumped about a foot in the air.

Like the first installment, I've read this book a few years ago and had given a rating that was well above what it deserved (4 stars) so I'm here to correct that. I think I was right in giving it a higher score than the first one but I don't believe it was all that much better, story-wise.

The plot continues where it was left in Her Alien Prince but this time we follow Sadie and Jaro's story. The Voxerans help the women move from the crash site to their settlement where it is safer, but on their way there, Sadie falls into the river and Jaro jumps after her to go help her. But the current is so strong that they end up far away from their people and they have to find their own way to the settlement. Both Sadie and Jaro have trust issues because of their past, and they'll have to put aside their lack of trust towards another to work together to survive.

I think I really liked Sadie. I appreciated that she was one of the only women who didn't fully trust the Voxerans. Because of past trauma, of someone in her life who betrayed her trust and made her believe she was safe with them, it made sense that she would be wary of aliens claiming they can protect the women. She didn't want to blindly follow them but kinda had to because all the other women werre pretty much on board with that idea. Sadie was compassionate and brave, no matter how scared she might've been. She was resourceful when she needed to be.

“I don’t believe you are broken. Certainly not in your mind or in your heart, no matter what hurts you have sustained. When we get injured and then heal from those injuries, our scars are not a sign that we’re broken. They’re a sign that we are strong enough to survive.”-Jaro

“Can I show you? Can I show you that you aren’t broken?”-Jaro

As for Jaro, he was a broody and serious. Like Sadie, he wasn't really on board with the idea of moving the women to the Voxeran settlement. He was very dedicated to protecting his prince and his clan, and he didn't know what to think of the women and whether they should trust them or not. He was very observant, and noticed Sadie pretty quickly. Not necessarily because he was attracted to her (although he did think she was beautiful) but because she acted differently than the other women who seemed more open and happy.

The only way out is through.-Sadie

Overall, I think the romance was better developed here because the characters actually get to know the other before getting intimate, even with the fated mate bond that connects them. They had many conversations about nothing and everything. And i think their intimacy was much more powerful than the instalust within 24 hours of knowing each other in Her Alien Prince. They communicated, they learned to trust one another. Their chemistry was more believable and cuter as it unfolded through their journey together.

Now why did I reduce the rating I gave when I first read it? Mostly because the plot essentially didn't go much further than where the first book left us. Something does happen at the end, but most of the story only focuses on Sadie and Jaro. I think I would've liked if they made it back to the settlement faster because the journey seemed to be dragging on at times.

Overall, better than the first book but also pretty average.

Overview: Another cracky good SFR series, it seems to contain the Presley Hall formula - huge, protective heroes who love wearing loincloths and nothing else. The Voxerans were banished to a prison planet called Nuthora and have lived there for 5 years when they see a spaceship crash and, thinking that they can salvage the ship for parts, head towards one of the crash sites. Unbeknownst to them, two human women have just found out that their world leaders basically sold them off to alien warlords as sex slaves in return for alien tech. Fantastic. When the ship they're on accidentally crashes on Nuthora, they also found out that there's a whole bunch of other women on the ship with them. The fight for survival begins, but along the way, you guessed it, we got some fated mate situations happening.

All in all, I like this series alot more than the previous series I'd read by Ms. Hall, the Kalixian Warriors. The premise of being able to reject the mate bond is still in effect, but I think the storytelling here is better and there's much more character development on the way to that HEA. There's also a cohesive overarching storyline that snaps into place and keeps the reader turning that page to find out if they succeed in their plans. I liked alot more fo the books here. If you're into SFR where the romance is central, then I'd recommend this. Now onto the individual books:

Book 1: Her Alien Prince (Charlotte and Droth) - solid start to the series, romance was right blend of insta and built up love. May have issues for those who would struggle with married heroine. Husband basically helped her get on this flight/no love, and there's no way she's going back, so I'm counting that as his fault, it didn't bother me. 4 stars
Book 2: Her Alien Savior (Sadie and Jaro) - I liked the couple, no external complications, all character driven. Deals with anxiety issues and survivalist action. 4 stars.

I enjoyed this book so much more than the first one. Maybe because Jaro is the other guy. He has a completely different history than the other men and was kind of accepted into the group rather than starting in it. He is suspicious of the human women too and I loved that because it meant the love wasn't instant. It seemed reluctant and I adored that about this couple. Sometimes with fated mates, the attraction is too quick and unjustified. I mean, i get it. they're FATED, but I still want to see a relationship develop. I like to see a couple either slowly realize their bond or give into it after fighting it for some time because then they can really create some chemistry to feed off of.

Two people suffering from physical, mental and emotional trauma find healing in each other's arms. This is Sadie's and Jaro's story. There aren't any great battle scenes in this book but it isn't without its drama. We get to see more of the flora and fauna of this wild planet as Sadie and Jaro have to find their way back to the village separately from the group. It's a dangerous and scary adventure with a great discovery made during the journey, a discovery that can change the future of the banished group for the better.

The first one was better. This just didn’t have the emotion necessary and it was also very predictable.

I hope the next ones are better because there is potential.

Wasn’t holding my attention, I kept stopping to mess around on my phone.

I liked the MCs.
I don’t like when the alien has no idea about how things worked on Earth but the humans talk to them like they understand all the words instead of trying to explain things to them in the most simplistic way. ( h talks about being an actor and having a stalker )

I prefer a slow burn so I started losing interest when the MCs were getting physically intimate while they were in a “very dangerous “ jungle trying to make their way to the village. If they weren’t having a dangerous encounter then they were doing sexual stuff there didn’t feel like there was much in between

My curiosity was piqued by Jaro in the first book so I just had to read this! I absolutely loved it. Such a beautiful story. I loved seeing Sadie battle her anxiety and learn to trust Jaro. And watching Jaro not realize he was in love with her was adorable. So precious.

What a nice enjoyable read! Great author. I didn't expect to read two Sci fi books in a row, from the same author. I wasn't even planning to. Like I said from my first review, from the first book of this series, I'm not into Sci fi romances.Yet unexpectedly I enjoyed that first book.

So surprisingly this second book had me enjoying it more. Not only that it has most of the ingredients for a lovely romance, it has great main characters too. it got me along for a thrilling ride and more edge of the seat action packed scenes, while the couple tried to survive their dangerous journey back to their people. Also, I appreciated the lovely, heartwarming and passionate scenes, as this two eventually discovered their strong connection while they navigate slowly through their feelings and mistrust for each other.

What I liked about this two was how they started. How they eventually felt the pull of their bond, despite some doubts and mistrust for each other, but once they knew what it was, there was no wishy washy thoughts, push/pull internal monologues. Maybe because they already knew what it was.

I loved this couple more than the first book. I doubted I could since I was into Droth😛. I appreciated how they healed from their dark pasts, embracing fully the bond and connection they felt, helping them fought and survived the dangerous challenges, their journey back had them faced.

This heroine, I loved. From a weak broken mistrusting woman, she rose up from the ashes, came out of her shell, fully trusted the bond and her mate, then became a fierce and brave partner for her alien man.

The hero, oh I loved this alien. Despite of what he had been through from his dark past, and what he thought would be his shadow as long as he lived, he fully accepted it all belonged in the past and was happily looking forward having a fruitful life with his mate. The bond changed him into a trusting, loving, sweet and warm alien 😛 from a stoic, non smiling, distrustful one, yet so loyal to his clan.

Despite me, not into Sci-fi romances, I'd gladly devour the works of this author. From the start, she got me into a thrilling enjoyable ride with her easy flowing, light yet passionate and full of depth writing style, considering it wasn't that easy for me reading this subgenre.

Overall, what a lovely read. Moving forward to continuing this series for more enjoyable reads and hoping they surpass these first two books.

Well, I liked this one much more than book one. Alot had to do Sadie and Jaro being far more interesting tbh. At first I wasn't vibing with Sadie's sad distrustful attitude and it was bringing me down. And Jaro with HIS distrustful attitude too wasn't helping. BUT thankfully that was a small part of the first few chapters before things got moving and we see Jaro and Sadie work together to survive.

I truly felt for both Sadie and Jaro's pasts. Jaro especially had the worst of them IMO. And I adored Jaro for being so patient with Sadie and putting her needs first regardless of the intensity of his urges to be with her completely due to the mate bond.

Still a little "hmmm" about that mate bond. I've read ALOT of alien romances and there just doesn't seem to be anything special or unique about this author's version. No special markings occuring after it's completed, no telepathy with each other, no feeling each other's emotions, no DNA changes etc etc. It all feels so normal even that it doesn't fit with the alien world we're reading, ya know? 🤷‍♀️

Again, I'm not a fan of ending the book with an epilogue about the next MC's POV essentially setting up the next book. Nope. Not at all. ESPECIALLY because the author thinks it's clever to offer a "sweet and steamy" bonus epilogue of each couple after the epilogue ends. Hm, nah don't think so. Fact is, how is that a "bonus" epilogue of this books couple when you didn't even have that couple in the first epilogue? Feels more like a cheap ploy to get email subscribers and though I fell for it with book one I'm already unsubscribed. Likely another sex scene tbh so I'm not missing nada.

Hmm that came off really ranty. Oops! 😬 Anywayyyy I DID like this one. It WAS better than book one, thank God. And though the pacing was fairly quick (as in days) with the mate bond being recognized and them boinking it felt far more organic and genuine in this book unlike the previous one. Especially because the MCs actually talked and learned one another which we never saw with book ones MC.

I am loving this series so far!

They carry a lot of emotions & very little action in this one... and although I do find the whole “broken” woman/person bit a little annoying at times (I won’t get into the what’s & why’s of that here... but the whole thing just gets old sometimes—and it is, in my opinion, kind of overused). However, despite all of that, I truly enjoyed this story. I liked the first book a little more, but this one was very sweet & heart-touching in a lot of ways that the first book was not. I can’t wait to read Elizabeth’s story! I hope the author did Elizabeth’s amazing character some justice. Idk why, but after Charlotte, Elizabeth is my second favorite female character so far in this series. Maybe it’s because they are both strong, resilient, & very adaptable. Things happen in almost everyone’s lives at some point or another... some just handle it.... eh, better? No. Perhaps “differently” is a better word for it... than others do. I resonate very deeply with those who don’t let even a terrible past or a single bad moment cloud or alter their judgement of others, either present time or in the future, it doesn’t matter. Everyone is not the same. Everyone is not out to get you. They didn’t let anything or anyone change them, or make them afraid of who they really are &/or what what they want, nor did they allow their past experiences to control them in any way. Eh... okay, I’m rambling. I like the characters, I just like some more than others. LOL — Shutting up now!

Oh, one more thing; if you’re on the fence... just get the darn book already. 😉 If you enjoy sticky-sweet romance, intense devotion, & some life-shatteringly-unadulterated love... then, I promise, it’s a very good one. 😋

So so good💖 5fabulous🌟's

Jaro was one of the Voxeran warriors from the first book. He's highly suspicious and doesn't trust these human women not to bring trouble to his King and their village. Even though he is deeply suspicious he can't help but be drawn to Sadie she is beautiful but closed off and suspicious herself she's not sure she's believes the Voxerans are truly there to rescue them. Jaro, was stolen from his family and his planet when he was 12 he lived the life of a slave up until being sent to this planet. When he was found by his King he swore to do all he could to protect him and his new tribe. Sadie is one of the Earth women that was sold by Earth gov but crash landed on Nuthora the prison planet. She was a childhood movie star that became a recluse after someone close to her betrayed her in a very terrible way. She is distrustful of everything and everyone. When everyone starts out and heads back to the Voxeran village both she and Jaro they separated from the group. The danger come fast and potent for both of them. They have to work together in order to survive and make it back to safety. Along the way they discover each other's secrets and realize so much of what they were seeing was each other's self defense mechanisms. As the danger intensifies so does their attraction and understanding of each other. Passion blooms and love begins to grow. The story is well told the lead characters have incredible chemistry and it's just a terrific read. Highly recommend 💖💖💖💖

Jaro and Sadie

Mark was taken in by the Voxeran when he was dumped on the prison planet and was found half dead on his first day. He is Voxeran but was abducted and thrown into slavery when he was 12. He was sent to this planet for killing his Master.
Sadie was stalked on Earth and was drugged and kidnapped but found and her stalker arrested but it left her with emotional scars. She ended up on this planet when her ship crashed and found she had been kidnapped by her own government to be traded for tech.
They are a little interested at first but were having problems with each other because of trust issues. After the men helped the women fight off Raiders it was decided they would strip the ship of what they might be able to trade or use then the next morning they would head to the men's settlement.
The next morning they pack up and set out. As the day wears they come upon a swift running river. It was decided that they would push a tree down and use it as a bridge. When it is Sadie's turn she gets most of the way but her next step lands on loose bark and she falls in the water, Mark drops his pack and dives in after her. He catches up with her as she's pulled under by a tentacled beast. He fights it but as it is dying it throws him against the rock and is knocked out. Sadie grabs him to keep his head above water, manages to grab a jutting shelf and pull them up on top.
They awaken the next morning and decide to climb up the wall to the cliff top. Things are going well until she loses her grip and is falling when he reaches out and catches her. They make to the top and start making their way home. Later in the day they have begun talking some when a large boar like creature with large tusks and fur attacks them. They injured it and it runs away. They are beginning to trust each other. They are foraging for food along the way and stop for the night under a weeping willow looking tree but the limbs are longer and thicker and hide them from predators while they sleep.
They are becoming closer and are trying to get to know one another a bit better. They both smell something and found a red man that had been stabbed to death, then another that had been killed by another and then another. Mark find what they all fought and killed each other for. He tells Sadie about the mineral that is turning a small pool of water turn red. They go inside a small opening and follow the water until they find a vein in the cavern. They only have time to get a small amount when the area is shaking and they get out of the cavern just as it collapsed.
They travel for a few more days and finally reach the settlement and are greeted by everyone. They feared that the couple had died. They had mated on their trek an we're glad to be home.

Saddie and Jaro both don’t trust one another due to their past life experiences on their other world.
Now they are both on this prison planet going back to the safety of Jaro’s and Droth’s village. While going back the group stop by the river and don’t have a way to get through to ther other side. Saddie slips when attempting to cross to the other side and Jaro is fast to react to get to her. But, they are now separated and wild adventures happen when attempting to get back to the group and village. But, during their trek back, they both discover mineral rocks that could help them communicate off that planet. Jaro, had mentioned before he knew of this substance because of his late parents were traders of this and he was familiar of what it is. They bring this discover to Prince Droth when they finally make it back to the village. This sort of makes me hope they all will find away off that Prson planet and go somewhere else.

Anyways, a long story short, I thoroughly enjoyed this action pack book and enjoyed reading about Jaro and Saddie. I can’t wait to read about Elizabeth and Axen. Well all of the next couples to find their true mates..also, what was found here in the story does that mean they will leave that planet? I hope so.

Slow passion

Sadie and Jaro’s story is the second installment of the Voceran Fated Mates and what an interesting read! These two characters history doesn’t allow them to trust easily, causing hesitancy of the unknown species.

Sadie is a former actress who steered away due to her anxiety issues. She has never been able to maintain friendships, let alone a stable relationship. And now, she’s stuck on an unknown planet to fend for herself, along with a few other women from Earth. So when the Voxeran’s prince invites them all back to their village, she doesn’t want to go but the remaining women have agreed to their help.

Jaro was never raised as a warrior with the other men, but he’s true to his kind. But, he’s also hesitant about the Prince extending his hand to the Terran women just because he has bonded with one. He doesn’t trust them, but he’s not able to keep his eyes from one that leads him to save her in time of danger.

These twos story is filled with a tremendous amount of passion once they overcome their own dark history. The simple admiration for one another, the draw towards the other will leave you breathless and filled with excitement. Plus, there’s some really interesting intimate scenes included that will have your pulse racing.

Highly recommend story and series! Great escape from the reality that is the pandemic

Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence.

While this could be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend it be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are reoccurring characters and an overall storyline arc.

I gave this 5 stars despite still having a lingering question that should have been covered by now ... what causes the Voxorians’ skin to glow? Based upon the storylines, I can infer what causes it, but it seems to be an obvious omission to not have included the specifics yet.

This story starts as the first story ends and focuses on Sadie, who suffers from anxiety and panic attacks. She was an actress on earth and had a stalker that caused her a lot of problems. Her warrior has also experienced a traumatic past. They end up separated from the rest of the group as they are all making their way to the Voxorians village.

Presley Hall really made the alien landscape come alive and it was easy to become immersed into the story.

Jaro had lost his parents and been sold as a gladiator slave at twelve, Sadie had been stalked and kidnapped, then kidnapped again to be sold as a sex slave by her own government.

When two damaged people meet after the wreck of the spaceship from Earth, they strike sparks off of each other. Both are wary, uneasy with anything new and unknown. But after raiders attack the group, the women survivors decide to join the Voxerans at their village, rather than stay at the wrecked ship. During the trek back to the village Sadie falls off a makeshift bridge into a rushing river, and Jaro drops his pack and dives in after her. After he saves her from a kraken-like water animal but is injured, Sadie grabs his body and floats him downriver til she can get them both out of the raging torrent. It's a case of each saving the other multiple times before they realize they actually like each other, then the mate bond slaps them both and things get hot, and hotter, but fear of being hurt again puts brakes on everything. Can two damaged souls find a way to join and men's their broken lives?

Just way too hot!!!

Her Alien Savior: Voxeran Fated Mates Book 2
By Presley Hall
Kindle unlimited purchase
In book one we learned that our government is sending women into space to appease aliens. The ship crash lands on a Prison Planet. Now, this is book 2 but I can't put it down.
Sadie ran away in book 1 because of a panic attack causing Charlotte to be out where a big bird could fly off with her. Now Sadie is a weak character but as this story goes you learn what she is made of. Even she is surprised by her change in such a short time.
Jaro doesn't want the Terran woman to come back with them, he does not trust them. He has even told the Prince (from book 1) his feelings.
I loved how this one is a slow burn. Both characters had to work through stuff so they could be the best for each other. I can see that this is going to be the kind of series that is going to pull me in until I've read every one of them needing more at the end. Sorry to say ( no I'm not ) this series is for readers OVER the age of 18. It's just way too hot.

Sadie and Jaro

After crash landing on a prison planet, the human women have met up with some Voxeran males, who will escort them to their village.
Jaro doesn’t quite trust the women. He’s been through some traumatic experiences before, and knows that danger can come in many guises.
Sadie was once an actor on earth, and suffered her own traumatic experience. She isn’t quite sure she trusts the Voxeran males to be doing the best for the women.
When an incident leave Sadie and Jaro stranded together, they will have to learn to trust each other in order to survive.

Another good book in the series, this time with two characters with trust issues, learning to trust each other and experiencing the mate bond.
The prison planet is quite deadly, but they persevere, learning a lot in the process.

A quick read, but not a standalone. The romance is complete, but the story is part of an ongoing one, and you should read book one first!

Recommended for those who enjoy sci-fi romance.

This second book of the Voxeran Fated Mates series tells the story of the mating bond between Jaro, a quiet, strong warrior and Sadie, a human dealing with anxiety attacks. It opens at the site of crashed spaceship. The group has stripped what they could carry and are making their way back to the Voxeran’s village. Sadie inadvertently becomes separated from the group and Jaro follows her in order to save her and bring her safely back to the group or to the village. Along the way they encounter danger, their own insecurities, affection, respect and a budding bond between them.

I so loved this book, and this couple. It was refreshing to have a MFC not freak out when the bond is forming, but actually embrace it. Jaro brings out strength in Sadie that she never even knew she had. And Sadie brings out a softer side to Jaro that he thought long dead. My heart broke when he told her his backstory; losing his parents, made to fight in the arena and forced matings. But as they grow closer together, they each find their own worth inside and also help each other heal. And I loved every moment of it.

I definitely recommend this book, and the series, to any fan of this genre of romance books.

Clunky

I like the world building and the characters are really likeable. The story premise is interesting and building, but there is something clunky about the style of writing.

While I appreciate the characters “talking” out their line of thinking, a lot of the story is talk and not actions that show changes. It’s kinda hard to feel camaraderie with the characters when you are being constantly told and reasoned with rather than being shown. It gets repetitive too. I’m not sure I need to be reminded about the full past that is stopping characters from making one particular decision versus another. It’s missing the balance of exposition and actions of change.

The heated parts of the story were good, but I also felt a little deprived because the romance seemed a bit too contrived, flat, laid out, and not hard won. It would have made the steam the story did pack that much better.
