2.)The boy in the story loves bugs, and he searches for them in his backyard. He uses descriptive words to list the reasons he loves the bugs, discussing both a variety of different bugs and some of the bug parts. In Bug Parts, the author discusses the different types of bugs, explaining the differences between insects and spiders, and also points out the different bug parts. Both books look at bug parts, one in a more creative/descriptive way, and the other in an educational way.
3.)The text structure the author uses includes both description and comparison/contrast. The author uses labels to point out the different bug parts, and describes the bug parts in the text below the photograph. The author compares the different types of bugs, discussing spiders and insects. The author shows the difference in the number of legs, number of body parts, and points out the differences through the labels in the photographs. Students can clearly see the comparison between the different types of bugs through the photographs and labels.
