Forced to endure London society for the sake of his younger sister, American Alexander Fiarbourne longs to leave England behind him. But when a stray kitten—all black but for a star of white—unexpectedly wins him over, Alex allows the tiny creature to lead him to a surprising discovery...

Deemed a traitor and wanted by the British crown, Cora MacGillivray lives a shadowy life in hiding far from her beloved Scottish Highlands. Her one joy is the affection of a black kitten—so when it disappears, Cora is desolate with loss. Then her little Starlight miraculously returns in the arms of a handsome stranger, a man who captures Cora's heart with one charming, wicked smile. But fear and danger still haunt Cora, and only a very special magic will give her the courage to surrender to love.

Cora and Alexander. She is hiding, he is in London to get back a debt owed his father. She is hiding from her past.
I couldn't connect with Cora, accept when it came to her cat Starlight. Love for her cat was easy to relate to.
Alexander is your normal charming, handsome man who falls in love with her on first sight. Then it's working out who is trying to kill her and why.
I'm glad she did confide in him.
At times it dragged a bit, but over all it's a nice, simple romance. An easy read.
