Bev Prescott grew up in the Midwest. Shortly after high school, she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. She considers it one of the best decisions she ever made because it exposed her to a world of possibilities and experiences that, otherwise, a blue-collar kid from Indiana could only dream of. The only decision she considers even wiser was marrying her partner of 20 years. Bev is an environmental attorney. She and K.C. and their clever calico cat, Lilliput, share a home in New England. Bev writes stories about everyday lesbian heroines who make a difference. (from the publisher's website)
Wow. This book truly took me on an emotional roller coaster. I felt like I was in the middle of the emotional dilemma, and then the bottoming out. Well written and the more I read the more I wanted to read. Really makes you feel the truth that when you find that one person... it is forever. Thanks Bev!
Interactions between Madison (soldier) and Isabella (social worker) are the basis for this twist and turn-filled romance with angst/drama. Ms. Prescott does an admirable job weaving a compelling tale and I read through the night not wanting to stop. Great book for anyone to read. Easily rates 4.5 stars
3.5 star rating I think my eyes are aching me from so many eye rolling after reading many childlike actions especially by the Soldier babe (Madison). I just can't seem to believe the author would make her so immature despite painting her as mature sexy reserved etc. Luckily, General's character as well as the family reaction brought in some realistic appreciated read.
This story has the predictable beats, but it stands out in its exposition on how war could impact veterans, the pros/cons of DADT repeal and the significance of having to choose between love and blood family who are not accepting.
my soldier, too is an excellent lesbian romance. Capt. Madison Brown falls in love and faces the complications of being a soldier who loves a woman. Just when you think “don't ask, don't tell” has solved everything, through Madison's eyes we get a view of how much and how little has actually changed. Nicely written and a captivating story, I highly recommend this one!
Needs a little polishing but not a bad read. There were the inevitable cliches, the 'are you sures' and the 'I don't want to hurt yous', but an ok story. It could have done with another chapter or two, I'll not say why so I don't spoil, but it seemed unfinished to me on several levels conflict wise. The ending just seemed rather hurried, like the author couldn't wait to get it over and done with.
Loved this book. It is a great story and very realistic. So moving and emotional, it touched my heart deep inside because I have friends in the military and I know how they feel. Definitely it is a re-read book for me.
