The mystery is more interesting than the romance that unfolds between Pippa and Callum. And if we're going by couples, it's more fun to read about the bad couple, Etienne and Annabel. Pippa says the word "bother" too much.

Charmed is a duke switcheroo revenge plot where Callum Innes, the rightful Duke of Franchot, was switched at birth with Etienne. Callum has no proof of his birthright, however he decides to get a look at the man who is living what was supposed to be his life at a ballroom party. Callum ends up seeing Pippa, Etienne's betrothed. The book blurb suggests Callum will use Pippa in his revenge against Etienne but this does not happen. Callum never does anything in a malicious manner where he uses Pippa's attraction for him to incite conflict with Etienne. Any conflict is accidental and based on innocent exchanges.

Calum Innes, the rightful Duke of Franchot, has been switched at birth with a vile imposter. He seeks to regain his position, and the woman betrothed to him at birth.

Good read.

Would have been five stars if the book wasn't so long in certain parts, only for the ending to feel super rushed. Also while I loved the writing overall, in some places it was a bit off (particularly with Callum's behaviour and thoughts changing in a manner very tangential to his overall character).

Callum and Philippa are super cute together and would have loved more steamy scenes of them as a couple, but I love how he respected that since they weren't married he gave her pleasure in other ways without 'taking her reputation or claiming her' as it was in those days.

"Започни така, както искаш да продължиш. Всичко, което се иска, за да се справя човек с тези неща, е да позволи на мъжете да си мислят, че те ни водят. Позволи им да крачат наперено и да си представят, че са главата на семейството. Но ние сме истинските водачи, скъпа ми приятелко."
