Bottom Bridge

Rate this book
Cackles and curses surround an old stone bridge that leads to a newly developed island off the eastern coast. Rumors of a boy’s death and hundreds of mysteriously dead fish have begun to surface beneath the shadows of Bottom Bridge. The fishermen think it’s a curse. The authorities think it’s a hoax. But an unlikely hero will be the first to discover the truth.

Fox Fitzgerald and his family just moved to the island of Driftwood Sound. Unmotivated at thirteen, Fox doesn’t care that his teachers want him held back a grade, or that military school looms in his future. He has been sentenced to a summer of solitude, void of everything but his overbearing grandmother. That is, until he meets an island boy with a mysterious past...a past that should have killed him.

Inexplicable secrets lurk beneath Bottom Bridge’s dark waters, secrets some men are willing to kill for. From sewer drains to stolen diamonds, Fox will soon find himself elbow-deep in adventures leading to new discoveries about the island, its inhabitants, and—more importantly—what’s inside himself.

Bottom Bridge is a book where the characters really come to life through the relationships they build and adventures they share. It's definitely a good mystery that combines a bit of that coming of age tale too. It’s a book absolutely worth recommending!
