This was a cute enough story featuring a green tea actress who died and woke up as a 6 year old unfavored princess called Lin Feilu. Since it's the beginning of a new life, initially she wants to "retire" and live peacefully, but she realizes that's not possible in the cutthroat harem and uses her acting skills to take down the people scheming against her family and win the favor of her royal siblings and her father the emperor.

The FL is a kid for most of the story, so don't expect too much romance. It mostly follows her around as she turns her situation around, more like a slice of life than anything else. Her mother is an unfavored concubine due to giving birth to a foolish prince, the FL's elder brother. Because of this, the emperor hasn't visited them in years, and the FL has never met him.

To change her circumstances, she starts befriending her royal siblings one by one by reading their personalities and adjusting her behavior to match what they like. By being on good terms with them, this opens up opportunities for her to attend school and meet more people, and eventually she meets the emperor and completely wins him over as well. It felt like collecting pokemon, or in the FL's words, conquering NPCs lol

As she's befriending her siblings, she also has to watch out for schemes against her family. Other concubines sense a potential threat to their position when they see the FL gaining the emperor's favor and start targeting her mother. For example, one concubine tries to arrange for the FL's mother to pass through the woods where a guard is waiting for her to get caught in their "affair." Others are more direct and hire an assassin to kill her. Luckily the FL is there to mitigate the threats and scheme right back against the concubines who tried to harm her family. Along the way, she uncovers the truth behind her mother's poisoning during pregnancy many years ago which led to her elder brother being born foolish.

What little romance there is comes near the end, when there's a 6 year time jump and the FL is 13, the age where she's old enough to marry. The ML is a foreign prince called Song Jinglan who was sent to the Lin empire as a hostage. They grow up together, and because the FL is the only one to treat him kindly when everyone else in the palace looked down on him and didn't provide him with sufficient resources, she has a special place in his heart and he refuses to wed anyone else, even when he rises to the top and becomes emperor of the neighboring kingdom himself.

Overall the book was entertaining and I enjoyed it. I did think the FL had it too easy winning over everyone around her, but to be fair when you put an experienced actress in the body of a cute 6 year old, that is a very powerful combo lol
