"Lasette I love you" said the voice in my head.

I burned from the torture those words meant. I had done the unspeakable. I knew he loved me and I loved him. How could I go back? How could Tyler a mere human have this much a hold on me? The love I have for Anthony is trying to pull me back but the mistakes I've made are fueling the fire to stay here with Tyler. Do I love him . . . .is that's what's holding me here? Anthony hurt me; tore my heart right from my very chest but what I had done was unspeakable.

Walkers the first published novel from Kyra Gates will leave you yearning for more as you embark on the journey of Aaliyah and Lasette as they race to save the ones they love and the species of the walkers as they know it.

Born and raised in Ohio, Kyra Gates became an avid reader late in life. After being encouraged to read a popular series she couldn’t stop. The only issue is that she continued reading the same series over and over again until her husband said, “Why don’t you just write your own book,” after writing her first book Walkers, a fantasy fiction romance that later turned into a novel she fell in love with creating her own alternative world in stories.

A few years later, her manager now close friend introduced her to Urban Fiction…wasn’t her favorite but from there she found African American Romance and is often not seen without her nose buried in her iPad or book. With two kids, a husband, a dog, and a successful youth volleyball program she has to find odd and creative ways to read and write; the bathroom and her car has become her sanctuary.

Soon after she began her first romance series Serenity which is based loosely on her own life’s situations a new part of imagination has opened and she hasn’t looked back. She’s not quite where she wants to be yet but is working toward that goal of one day being a nationally known author.

Her work includes, Walkers, Tortured Soul, and Infinity which is the fantasy fiction series Walkers. Her romance collection includes, Serenity, Is Your Heart Still Mine, Chocolate Angel, One More Night, and A Promise to Keep all part of the Serenity series. There are two more books coming to conclude this series.

Her latest series Harris Family Values includes All I Need Is Patience and coming soon Beautiful Storm, Cherish, Surrender, and Second Treasure.

Kyra Gates is the founder of Dunebug Publishing and Program Director of Precision Volleyball Academy still residing in Ohio with her husband, two children, and the dog. You can contact her at kyragates@rocketmail.com or drop by her website @ authorkaigates.wordpress.com.

Walkers is one of those book that you can't put down; Great story but I gave it four stars becuase it needs a bit more editing. However I'm not one to judge a book off of ,.?" If I can't put it down then to me its other wise a good book. Excellent seeing that this is a first time author. Lot of potential; I look forward to reading more of her work.

Not my type of book; but I chose to read it becuase it was from a first time author. The story line was pretty good and it is one of those books that once it gets going it keeps going. I would compare it to a good roller coaster ride with a serious rush. I recommend it to anyone that wants a good love story. I'm not into myths and legends but I love how the author wrapped history into the story. I recommend this book. I grabbed in when it first came out; it is available on line in an E-book and for those who reside in cleveland or Columbus I believe some of the smaller stores have it there. King Gallery in Cleveland.

Gives a new twist to the old vampire cliches that many are used to reading. Loved some of the in depth personality traits that were given to the characters. Tough read as a proof copy but cannot hold that against anyone; hopefully many are taken care of before it was published and sold.
Some of the first person perspectives felt kind of confusing towards the end of the book but was able to clarify whose perspective that the reader was looking from. Can't wait to see what the next in the series will unveil.

New Species of Vamps 4 stars
Story telling around historical events 5
Relating to real life situations 4.5
How likely I would recommend it to someone else; definitely.
Overall 4.5

At first i thought it would be difficult to read on two different levels. First when you know someone personally you already have a bias opinion about what you want to read and how they write or whether the characters are based off real people lol . secondly i am not a vampire person, so if you dont grab my attention the first few sentences i'm throwing it to the side. But i have to commend kyra for this to be her first book i thought it was well written and had great facts . the story line was great and wasnt jumping all over the place. although its vampire based it wasnt the whole book the characters had lives that you could relate to. i just cant wait for the second one!!!

I loved it! Can't wait for part II. I only had the ebook copy but I plan on buying the hard copy. If I were in that city I would definitely come to the signing. I thought it was well thought out. It will definitely hold me over until breaking dawn. I saw also where you were going with the characters...that was intense. I'll keep that too myself though. I wish too that I would have seen the ebook on here before paying the 10.00 on amazon but it was worth it. What a rush...thanks

This was a great book! I used to always read, but due to my schedule I haven't been able to do it as much as I would like to. But this book was just what I needed to get my mind back on track! Thank you so much for sharing your gift!

Pretty Good Book for her first self published book. Different from the twlight series. A bit more on the adult side, definitely not unlike vampire diaries.
