A tender tribute to his sons’ far away childhood, and the poems that Steven Herrick distilled from their eager chatter, and daily life. Many poems tickle the funny bone with lots of Dad humour, like ‘Cooking’ and ‘The Menu’, (pp. 130-132) and so many more. Other poems are achingly poignant, moving and nostalgic, like ‘My Dad’ and ‘Happy Birthday 1 and 2’ (pp 26-28).

A special treat is ‘the 10 Commandments or [10 things your parents will never say.]’ and ‘advertisements for poetry… 9 out of 10 Doctors recommend poetry for a longer life’.

These poems are also excellent for reading aloud and sharing.....
