A stylish and sexy pageturner about the pursuit of truth - and the power of temptation ...

Star prosecutor Alicia Maldonado needs a high-profile case to rev up her career, and gets it when a candidate for California governor is murdered. Charismatic TV reporter Milo Pappas shows up to cover the nation's top story, only to find himself even more intrigued by the beautiful assistant D.A. than by the courtroom drama.

Ethics demand that Alicia and Milo keep their relationship strictly professional. But that's easier said than done when passion ignites ...

Author of the Beauty Queen Mysteries, Diana Dempsey never competed in beauty pageants herself but she did the next best thing: she worked in TV news. After a dozen years of war zones and 3 a.m. wake-up calls, she packed up her mic and her Emmy and morphed into a writer of fast and fun romantic fiction.

Diana’s novels have been called “almost impossible to put down” (Romance Reviews Today), “skillfully plotted and filled with realistic detail” (Library Journal), and “spicy, sexy, and sultry” (Booklist). Her first novel, FALLING STAR, was nominated for a RITA award for Best First Book by the Romance Writers of America.

A fast moving story that's fun and romantic along the way. Alicia is an up and coming prosecutor looking for her big break and Milo is a reporter for a tv channel. I love the relationship between the 2 of them. Its a great combo of a love story and a murder mystery. The plot was clearly well researched. Such a pleasure to read.

I said that I would not read this author again unless I was at the beach or in bed with a cold. Well, thanks to a cold, I have discovered that Ms. Dempsey has some substance to her work! It has a very nice twist at the end, something I always enjoy and will not reveal to you.
I do think Luella ends up with the best man in the end, but Alicia holds her own throughout the story and comes across as a strong, likeable character.
This author has matured in this book over Ms. America. . .I only wish she would do a tad more research. The Concorde no longer flies and has not for some time. Michael Phelps has more medals than Mark Spitz. This book was published in 2011 for heaven's sake!!

I was looking for some fun summer reads akin to Sophie Kinsella and found this on kindle for 2 bucks! What a great deal for the price! I will definitely be checking out more of her books. I wonder, though, if what we are reading is the manuscript version, due to the fact that there are several grammatical errors throughout. For 2 bucks, though, I'm not complaining!

Lots of references to American stuff - roads, travel, food, that didn't mean anything to me in the UK. An enjoyable read but I prefer some of Diana's other books.
