Key learning & notes from a book are:
1. Self- esteem arises from personal negative thinking or PFF( personal fault finders). PFF based on our own belief rather than valid facts. Do not try to defeat PFF but acknowledge where it's coming from, try to understand it. It's a good idea to keep a track of your emotions, thoughts , behavior. Test new ideas , write 3 good and grateful things from your day
2. Desire for Perfectionism only will set you to fail. It's great to improve yourself but it's not good to criticize yourself if it's not to the standard
3. Healthy self awareness- understanding own feelings and wants. When situation arises evaluate your emotions, reflect on possible outcomes, be calm and constructive
4. Positive thinking is a key, there is no problem there is a challenge

This is one of the books that actually changed my life for the better. I've never been to see a medical professional about low self-esteem, but I know that it has been negatively and severely impacting my life, but I didn't know how to change that.... until I read this book.

As it is a book on CBT, it is very practical. I like that they try to slowly introduce concepts, with examples, to you in each chapter, so you don't feel overwhelmed by all the information. After getting used to the concepts, you are able to more readily apply it to real life. The most useful thing is probably learning about the distorted thinking patterns and how to identify negative thoughts. Because this book is so easy to understand, with very practical steps to follow, I could actually apply the concepts to real life and it improved my mental well-being tremendously. I am going to be forever grateful to the author of this book.

I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for beginners-level guide on how to improve their self-esteem.

To be honest, I don't think this book was well suited to me. My self-esteem is not particularly low at the moment - I hadn't actually realised how much it had improved, so that's one really great positive from reading this. The book did raise some good points that I recall having come across previously, so it provided a good reminder. I also previously thought that I aligned a lot to the CBT approach but have consequently started rethinking this.

Very interesting information presented in simple, jargon free language. Perhaps too simple and not quite gripping enough to hold a readers attention..
