Ugh. This book annoyed me. The MC was not likeable, at least to me, and I can't believe his actions. The friend turned out to not be a friend at all and turned on him. Really he should have told the truth about what happened right away, instead of waiting until they got caught.

Personal Response:
I thought that this book was really good. I liked how it was kind of a mystery and kept me on the edge of my seat. I liked how I knew what was going on and was able to see other characters reactions when they found out. Overall, this was an excellent book.

Plot Summary:
Bang is a book about two best friends named Quentin and JD. One day they decided that they wanted to go get high, so they went to a park not to far from JD's house. When they were at the park an older guy saw them, so they decided to head back to JD's house. The next day Quentin and JD wanted to get high again, but as Quentin led JD down an old alley they found a food truck with no one in it. Quentin thought that since no one was around that he could get away with stealing some food. All of a sudden the owner caught them, so he grabbed Quentin. JD got scared and remembered that he had a gun on him so he shot the owner of the truck. JD and Quentin left the scene right away, they did not want anyone finding out. At school the next day the cops go and try to find witnesses and some clues to find out who killed the guy. They try to act as if nothing happened, but JD ended up turning in Quentin even though he didn’t have the gun. In the end, Quentin learned that he should have just told the cops on JD right away.

Recommendations:
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery's and crime books. I think this is definitely a high school level book because of the murder scene and because of the substance use. I would also recommend this book to anyone who wants a short book that is still interesting.

Personal response: I like this book because I like reading about crimes. It had a lot of twists and action which got me more interested.

Plot: The main characters are JD and Q. They are both 16 and they are best friends. JD and Q go to smoke up at a park. Two little kids come by because they want to get on the swings. An old man heard JD yelling at the kids to go away. The old man came yelling at them and threatens to call the cops on them because they were smoking near children. They take off running when the old man started yelling at them. Laters Q tried to steal food from a van that was left open. The owner came back and grabbed JD by the shirt. It Turns out that the owner was the old guy who was yelling at them at the park that one day. Q decided to shoot the guy because he was filling for citizens arrest. Later on they saw the man on the news. They burned there clothes and buried them with the gun too. JD then betrayed Q because he didn't burn his clothes instead he left his clothes in his room for the cops to find which they did. JD put all the blame on is own best friend, the cops didn't believe Q's story. JDs twin sister Leah visits Q and gave him a book to read, inside the book there was a picture of them of the day that Jd shot the man. When leah left the detective came in to talk to him about his side of the story while they were talking Q's book fell to the ground. When the Detective saw the picture he saw the date that it was taken and noticed that he wasn't wearing the same clothes that JD gave to the detective. The detective then asked where JD might of buried the clothes and the gun, Q told them that he likes to go by the ravines. The detectives ended up finding the gun. They found JD's fingerprints on the gun

Setting: Beach, School, Alley,

Recommendation: I recommend this book to kids that are older than 13 years old because there's a lot of

My book is Bang and it’s by Norah Mcclintock. It is a fun and interesting book but i don’t like it. It’s a book about murder people and killing and hiding and all that stuff. There are the main charters Jd, and Q. They get into a lot of trouble and cause a lot of murders and a lot of mischief. I wish there was more non real things in it but the only reason I kind of liked it is because of the less word count. I don’t like reading books, and this book was good for a one time read but if you don’t like murder and killing i would not suggest this book for you. I did not like how it had a gun of the front of it. Over all i would like to say that this book is a trash book and not to get it but if you like short books and they hook you on this is the book for you.

Bang: Bang by Norah McClintock was a pretty okay book. I did like a lot of it but some part of the book were very plain. Another things that I couldn’t decide if I liked it or not was how the point just got to the part with little details. But other then that the book was kinda a thriller to me and a surprise. These two friends Quinten and JD who been friends for a long time. Now in their teen ages. Go hang out, go to each other houses, discover around town. A lot of stuff can happen when doing some of those thing. Good and bad. That’s why I believe the author is trying to put out an message of what we can “friends” can change into bad person with situation going bad. Kinda gives the reader something to think about with old friends. Basically all I got out of the book was not even the ones that’s been there the longest with have your back. I would recommend this book if you want to read a book within a time limit and get something out of the book . But other then that if you’re trying to find something interest and enjoy this isn’t the book for you.

In the book “Bang” by Norah McClintock two teenage boys named Quentin and JD, who had been friends since they were children. However, after getting in trouble with the police, JD gets sent to a military school and consequently is unable to see his friends and family. Eventually, JD leaves the school, Quentin soon realized that JD isn’t the same as before he went to the school. While Quentin is hanging out with JD at the park, JD got into some trouble with an older guy. While they were hanging out at the beach, trying to pick up some girls, JD shows one girl that he's dangerous by showing a gun to her. Later in the story, the two boys are caught stealing from a food truck, that was owned by the guy who JD previously had some trouble with at the park, but the two boys did not know this. In order to escape from the man, JD pulls out his gun and BANG!
I would imagine you would BANG your head against the wall if I told you that the book, “Bang”, is mediocre at best. I say this since, despite the book having the potential to be full of action, excitement, and keep you on the edge of your seat, there isn’t much of any of those. This book doesn’t really have anything about it that makes it stand out from other books, particularly because it is pretty dull and lackluster for the duration of the book. Although I did like that the book spaced important/exciting events fairly evenly throughout the book, even if the book only had like 4 or 5 semi-exciting parts. I would recommend this book to anyone who has nothing better to.

Personal Response
I personally thought that this book was okay. It had a good story to it and I liked the plot twist that this book had. I give it a three out of five stars because it was not a bad or a good book, it was right in the middle.

Plot Summary
This book is about two boys in their teens named Quentin(main character) and JD. These guys like to ride bikes and explore new places. Quentin and JD get into trouble a lot. Quentin and JD decide that they need to try to do something new. They want to steal a man's wallet. When they were about to do this Quentin tried to grab the wallet but the guy noticed and held him really tightly. JD was mad that the guy was holding his friend like that. JD decides to do something crazy. JD had a gun with him so he shot the man. JD said that he would burn their clothes and stuff so they don't get caught. JD doesn't burn Quentins stuff so instead he has framed Quentin. The police found out about this and Quentin was being held by the police, he is trying to tell them the truth about what really happened. The police found out that JD was the one who shot the man, but Quentin was still a criminal according to him trying to steal from the man.

Recommendation
I would recommend this book to anyone from the ages of 14 to 18 because this book does talk some stuff about violence and has some drug references in it. This book also talks about crimes that these two teenagers commited. If you're into books that have crime then this is the book for you.

Characterization
The book is about a high school teenager named Quentin. This book is narrated off a first person view. It shows that even a high school student can commit crimes and get tricked by their friends just so the other person doesn't take the blame. It even showed that Quentin trusted his friend and that he was hoping that they would both get out of that mess, but that didn't happen thanks to JD.

In the beginning of the story there was two guys named JD and Garret. JD had a gun in his pants when they saw a food truck full of food but nobody was around. So they decided to rob the food truck, and when they were about to leave the guy saw them. JD split but Garret got caught. JD came back around the corner and shot and killed the guy. It was the same guy that told them to leave the park because they were smoking weed. When JD shot the guy, Garret was freaking out because they just committed a crime. Murder was all that was in Garrets mind. JD, on the other hand, was perfectly fine with it. At the end of the book, Garret finds out that JD tricked him because JD said he would burn the clothes and hide the evidence, but he only burned his clothes. JD secretly put Garret's back in his room under his bed. When the police came to inspect Garret's apartment, they found his clothes, and the blood of the man that they killed. Garret went to jail. JD, on the other hand, was home free until they found the gun in his closet because Garret told them where JD hid the gun, and then JD was put in prison since JD was the one who shot and killed the guy. Garret was in jail because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but Garret decided not to tell the police about what happened, so he's going to spend some time in the slammer.

I recommend this book to kids 16 and up because it has to deal with kids committing crimes and about killing someone. You hear all the time on the news that there was a school shooting with a 16 year old or an 18 year old, so I recommend it to this age group because it has to deal with tricking each other over a stupid situation were they could have avoided it.

In my opinion, this is what I think should have happened. JD should have went to prison and Garret should have went on probation because the only thing he did was steal. He should have just left the food truck alone and kept on biking to where ever they were going and none of this would have ever happened.

This book is about two boys, Quentin and JD, getting in trouble with the law. They started out as good boys and gradually became big trouble makers. JD was influencing Quentin to constantly break the law and get in trouble. It all started when JD convinced Quentin to steal from a vendor for lunch after smoking weed. Quentin was madly in love with JD's sister and would do anything to be with her.

The author's purpose for writing this book is to show the obstacles of being a teen in the inner-city. They wanted to give an example of why it is so hard to make it out of the hood. This book just shows how danger and temptation will follow you everywhere you go. It also proves that your closest friends can corrupt your life and not do much good for you. I believe that the author was writing from a personal past experience.

I do think that this book has a lasting effect on the audience that reads it. It does have a lasting value. This book has valuable lessons that everyone should learn. No matter where you're from you can learn something from this book. This was a very captivating book. I can relate to certain parts of the book such as I have been influenced to do bad things by my friends. Not exactly how Quentin was being influenced.

Bang Norah McClintock

Q and JD have been friends for along time. On the day the man was shot it started out like every other day they hung out. They were going to go smoke some weed and try to pick up girls on the beach. When Q sees JD has a gun he should of left right away, but he don't. When they get caught robbing a guy Q thinks this is bad, then JD pulls out the gun and shoots him, then he gets scared. Q realizes JD is really not his friend when he frames him for the murder. Q finally tells the cops everything and hopes for the best.

Quentin, or Q as his friends call him is a typical teenage boy. He likes his friend JD's sister, Leah,so they hang out a lot. JD pretends to be Q's friend but he met some not so nice people in a detention camp he went to for getting into trouble earlier. Leah and JD are twins so they are. Dry close and she worries about him a lot.

The story takes place I think in California. The way they described the beach and town reminded me of shows I have watched that are in California. I think the time would be today. The characters acted and talked like kids do today.

I would recommend this book to any high school boy. They may learn a lesson about choosing your friends carefully and owning up to their mistakes.

The story is about two guys who like having fun and smoke weed. One of the boys name is JD and another ones Quentin but most of people call him just by nickname Q. Both of them are sixteen years old and JD has a sister who Q likes but he never got a chance to tell her that.
Once they got in a trouble on a playground with some guy who was defending little children JD and Q were bullying. The next thing you know is that one day when boys got high Q got very hungry. He saw the truck full of food, looked around no one's around, decided to steal something to eat ad while he was doing that the same guy that was on the playground a few days before showed up. He got Q. JD had a gun so he shoot him as for defend he explained.
Then they got in a big trouble, Q was worrying that cops will catch them and they will go to jail. JD set Q up for what the guy went to jail, he was trying to explain the officer that he was not the one who commited a crime but the officer didn't listen to him. Then finally with the help of JD's sister they've got the real killer and Q was free.

Personal Response: I think that this book was very good, but I also thought that it followed the same kind of pattern every other book follows. The characters didn't really change too much throughout the story. I think that the book's ending was good because it left the reader thinking. It also has a very good plot twist right in the middle of the book, so I felt that it was more interesting.

Plot Summary: Q and JD are two normal highschool boys who get into trouble a lot. Until JD decides to do something that will change both of their lives. He shot a man, and now he has framed Q. Q is now being held by the police, and he is trying to tell them the truth. The police found out that JD was the one who shot the man, but Q was still brought down with him.

Recommendation:This book should be read by kids. This book should be read by people who have an interest in action. Boys or girls could read this book.

Characterization: Q was a normal kid who went to school and did his work. He started to hang out with the wring crowd, and he got in trouble. He went to jail.

The book that I read is called “BANG” by Norah McClintock. The book is a quick read so it's not that long. So the book is about these two teenage boys named Quentin and JD. So these two boys been friends for a very long time and one day they both get caught up. So one day when they were hanging out Quentin founds out that JD has a gun In his back pocket. When they were out on a bike ride and they got caught in a robbery and JD pulled out the gun and it ended up in a situation. With both boys one of them ends up in even deeper problem with the police homicidal detective. I really loved the book because it's was interesting how the ending turned out and how friends can really be. I feel like someone would like this book because it's not a long book but it teaches you a lot and shows you how people can really be.

This is a great high-interest, low-readability book for your reluctant boy readers. It moves very fast and each chapter leaves you wanting to read on. Also, it gets really good towards the end so you don't want to stop. The only thing is that the ending is a little abrupt.

This was a pretty short book. It does a great job of giving a glimpse of what bad decisions will cost you and how it affects those around you. It also does a decent job of showing why it’s important to be careful about the people we call friends.

Personal response:
I personally thought this book was good. It had a mystery feeling to it. It just always had you guessing on what was gonna happen next. I could never tell what was about to happen around the next corner.

Plot Summary:
The book is about two boys named Q and JD. the two boys love to ride their bikes around and find new adventures. They also seem to find their way into trouble a lot. That is their way of having fun. One day the two boys were on their way back from the beach when Q realizes that he is starving. He then sees a food truck in an alley unattended so he decides to take some food. Q comes out of the truck with a bunch of food when he sees the owner of the truck. The boys run, and the owner grabs Q and confronts him. He tells Q that he is going to call the police. Then all of a sudden there was a bang. Who shot? It was JD. He shot the owner because he didn’t want to be a part of a robbery. For the next couple of days nobody knew who the men where that killed the owner of the truck. JD told Q that he had washed and burned their clothes. But little did Q know JD didn’t wash or burry his clothes. JD actually snuck into Q’s house and placed the bloody clothes in his hamper. JD told the cops to check Q’s hamper. They did and took Q into custody. You will be shocked what happens next.

Characterisation:
I think that the character that changed the most was JD. In the beginning of the book after the killed the man he told Q he could be trusted not to say anything. He also told Q he was gonna take care of all the evidence. Little did Q know, JD could not be trusted.

Recommendation:
I recommend this book to those who like books that keep you on the edge of your seat. I also recommend this book to teenagers, because the story is about two teens at what they go through.

Bang! Orca Soundings, 2007, 95pp. $9.95
Norah McClintock ISBN 155143654X

Quienton went from worrying about school work and getting to work, to running away from the law. His life changed drastically when his troubled best friend JD persuaded Queinton to take their lunch from a street vendor and the owner arrest. Under pressure JD did the first thing that came to mind and shot the man. The rest of the story they try to keep themselves out of prison. The story was very interesting to me and actually felt like I was in the story with them.

The only problem was that the reading was to simple. The transitions were really in inappropriate places. they would be in the present and just jump back to the past without explanation. A small period of the story had me reading a page over through out the book. But I would recommended the book to someone third through fifth grade. They will probably really enjoy this book, Because it’s climax is very intense and it has a great twist.

I really love that these Orca Soundings books are so interesting! I picked this up at the library today–it was calling my name. Bang is a great coming of age novel in which the main character, Quentin, learns valuable lessons about truth, lies, and friendship. It speaks volumes to teens about the destructiveness of drug use, anger, and idleness, while directly showing that there are always consequences for our actions. And, while the novel has wonderful themes for exploration, it also has an extremely engaging format. McClintock did a superb job creating the voice for Quentin, who narrates his story just like teenagers speak today: very conversational and jumbled. Instead of telling a straightforward story, McClintock engages the reader through small revelations. The first chapter draws the reader in through an explanation of events, though nothing is given away, and the reader is kept guessing throughout. Each chapter builds off the next, revealing a small portion of the “incident” that Quentin is trying to describe...
