Though they have both opted for careers far from the city smoke, even amidst the calm of the York Moors the lives of Constable Nick Rowan and his doctor wife are never less than eventful. Part of the Constable series which inspired the largely successful TV series Heartbeat.

I've read most of Rhea's Constable books and although they are partly fiction I believe that much of the content are the author's own experiences.

In contrast Constable on Call is a script for a TV Heartbeat episode...with him as Nick Rowan instead of himself married to Mary.

Good as a television programme but not as a book. . Didn't enjoy it as much as the rest.

Rhea himself probably though the same so reverted back to his usual format.

I have not seen the TV show but this was sort of cut up and it built really high in the first chapter and then met this Disney type ending in the last 3 pages. It then lept to some other soty line and I felt it all sor of disconnected. Not much suspence with that.
