I bought this book since my daughter gets the hiccups all the time. It’s such a sweet story. I feel like this book is written for older children. I know when she is older she will enjoy it more and will love the reason why I bought this for her.
Funny story about a little pig named Snuffletrump who can't seem to find a remedy to his hiccups. It's his birthday, and Snuffletrump is sad: no one seems to have remembered. So he wanders around, meeting other animals that offer a cure to his hiccups. First he meets a cow, who offers a glass of milk: it doesn't work. Then comes a rooster, who tells him that the remedy for hiccups is juggling some eggs. It ends in disaster, as the cruel hens make him a laughingstock. A nice horse gives him a ride, suggesting that that is a remedy to hiccups, but Snuffletrump ends buried in a haystack. A duck hears Snuffletrump's hiccups from a distance and tells him the best way to make hiccups go away is splashing cold water all over oneself. It doesn't work, but at least now Snuffletrump is clean. His parents call him out: a wonderful birthday party awaits. Surprise!
The ending was a bit abrupt, that's why I gave it four stars instead of five.
Nice double-page illustrations; I love the onomatopoeias in the text.

Hic is about a piglet who ends up with a bad case of hiccups on his birthday. Everyone seems to have forgotten. He asks some farm friends for help getting g rid of hiccups but just ends up getting all dirty. Finally mother duck and her ducklings get him clean, but the hiccups remain. In the end, a surprise party cures the hiccups.
teaching application- This is a good read aloud because there are repeated lines for the kids to repeat as the story goes along. A fun book to read anytime a student has a birthday.
My children absolutely adore this book. Reading literature is so important to the development of a child's mind, and I cannot think of thing I would rather do then sit down to read to them in the evenings. Imagination and growth are so vital in those so young.
This is a farm story about a pig who believes everyone forgot his birthday. He goes around asking his friends to help him get rid of his hiccups while his parents are setting up a surprise party for him.
Snuffletrump, the piglet, is not a happy piglet. It is his birthday and he has the hiccups, too! As he travels around the farmyard, his animal friends give him lots of advice about how to stop the hiccups but nobody seems to have remembered his birthday.
Sharing this book with my toddler is such fun for us both. He joins in with the hiccups as Snuffletrump tries various tricks to cure them. Along the way we meet some great farmyard characters. There is a happy ending for Snuffletrump as he loses the hiccups in time to celebrate his birthday.
From a parent's perspective, the illustrations are fabulous. There are a couple of clues as to what is going to happen (I don't want to spoil it), and my toddler picked these out from the illustrations, to his delight. It is a fun, tongue twisting, noisy read! Great fun!
5 out of 5!

This book is definitely a read to a child. It’s so engaging and has multiple messages and qualities to teach a child. I suggest to have this book read to a child multiple times and teach the child the significance of every interaction with the little piglet who has hiccups.
The child will definitely develop proper social etiquette and strong self esteem and independence with the reinforcement of this book.
Hic is the story of Snuffletrump the pig, who happens to have hiccups on his birthday, and the crazy things the other animals tell him to do to get rid of his hiccups. The story has adorable illustrations that really help to emphasize what is going on in the text. This would be a great read aloud in a class full of little ones because of hilarity behind the story.
