Read this western for Museum Of Texas Tech University Illustrators Book Club 4/18/2023. The painting for one of the cover’s is in their collection. The story was more interesting than I expected and the book club discussion was exceptional.

Gregory Quist is a consistently engaging protagonist, and McDonald's series is a fantastic mash-up of a noir gumshoe character in a western frontier setting. Action at Arcanum is a fantastic mystery with plenty of death, action, intrigue, and suspense for fans of noirs and westerns alike.
