Molecular Diagnostics: Fundamentals, Methods and Clinical Applications

Rate this book
This exceptional resource introduces the fundamentals of nucleic acid biochemistry as well as the advanced concepts integral to professional practice in today's laboratories. With a focus on the application of molecular concepts to diagnose diseases, the 2nd Edition reflects the many advances in this rapidly developing field. Inside, you’ll find in-depth explanations of the principles of molecular-based assays as well as reference material and trouble-shooting tips for the laboratory. Discussions of general diagnostic procedures reflect the continuing emergence of new diagnostic technologies to prepare you to meet the challenges of the future. “I would like to say that once published the second edition of ‘Molecular Diagnostics’ would be a significant addition to the advancing science of molecular diagnostics. It would serve the multi-purpose of a textbook and a reference guide as well as troubleshooter. I can imagine it would be equally admired by the educator, student and scientist.” Hamida Nusrat, PhD Lecturer, CLS Internship Program San Francisco State University, San Ramon, CA

I used this book to study for a couple of board exams successfully (ABCC and ABB). As a molecular diagnostics professional I highly recommend this. It will not go in deep depth for all aspects of molecular diagnostics but certainly it will form a strong background for molecular biology/techniques with some advanced concepts. It certainly is a great start and has multitude of good questions to help you with understanding concepts.

A very good and comprehensive review of molecular diagnostics as a general introduction for people of all levels. Definitive reference for non-doctoral laboratory professionals. A go-to reference for ASCP-MB study prep. Fixing the fair number of typos for the next edition will give it five stars.

This is as much a reference book as a textbook. The advanced concepts sections are particularly helpful. It should come in hardbound because it's getting some serious mileage.
