The important Scholastic Aptitude Test is soon to be transformed into SAT I, placing greater emphasis than ever on student verbal skills. This updated book reflects those coming changes. Short quizzes have been revised to reflect the kinds of questions that will appear on SAT I. Includes the 350 "tough" words that appear most frequently on SATs.
Advice from an SAT instructor: vocabulary is even less important on the SAT than it was before its most recent change, so focus on your test-taking technique rather than on books like these. Expanding your vocabulary as life-long pursuit of word-learning is never a bad idea, but wasting lots of time poring over Hot Words has very little in the way of payoff.
