"Frank Fradella gets superheroes -- in the same sense that Hollywood finally got it right with the Spider-Man and X-Men films. Swan Song is a compelling murder mystery, involving two superheroes falling in love. Fradella's characters are not the least bit campy -- they're believable, and that's the key to Swan Song's success!" - Jim Salicrup, Editor-in-Chief, Papercutz
When Permafrost's father is murdered, she enlists the aid of The Swan to root out his killers, embroiling them both in a conspiracy that could have global consequences. With a viral pathogen threatening the lives of everyone on earth, Permafrost finds herself in the arms of the one person she cannot bear to lose.
I met Frank in Atlanta on Dragon Con and he sold his books to me with charme and by making me curious about his writing.
Swan Song is a superhero novel like few others I've read so far. The main protagonists, Permafrost and The Swan, are two superheroes knowing each other from past experiences. When Permafrost asks The Swan to help her find out why her father was murdered, and avenge him. The story gets more dangerous, though, when they find out there was a huge reason her father was killed.
The novel goes mostly into the problems superheroes face with their everyday life, and I really liked the writing style and the ideas Frank had. The characters are lovely and multi layered, the tension between Permafrost and The Swan is a great add to the story, and the tight knit group of superheroes, despite their need for secrecy even between themselves, moved me a lot.
A really good book, and I would suggest this to everyone who likes a good superhero story.
