So I guess I didn't realize quite what this book of short stories was when I decided to read it, which seems really strange to me now when I went back and read the description. I sort of enjoyed it but at the same time I guess I didn't expect all the wheel chairs, which makes me sound bad.

BUT I do love short stories, although I really don't feel like the last two (The Best Friend and The Surgeon) should count as short stories since they were both like 20 chapters long! The heroine in The Best Friend was also a super weak, dense character that really annoyed me and I don't believe in getting back together with someone when they've cheated on you and their reason is basically "just because but I'm really sorry now."

I guess that I liked The Surgeon best but I was very dissatisfied with the ending. The first two short stories, were both definitely short although the second one, Knight in Shining Metal was almost a PWP FLUFF story, . And I don't even feel like that was really a spoiler.

This is probably the most hesitant review I have ever written but I don't think I've read a book before where I was as surprised by the content (which is really, really stupid of me looking back now). It was interesting to see life through a very different perspective, however, so that was a plus. I just don't think I would fall into the devotee category (now that I know there even is such a thing).

I wouldn't not recommend this book but mostly because I definitely learned some medical stuff from the last story and I did sympathize and like Joel's character. The first three, however, were pretty meh.

I enjoyed all the different stories but hated the endings to The Best Friend and The Surgeon!!! For me, I didn't think those women deserved them. (But that's just me!) :)
