World War II in Photographs a selection of around 900 amazing photos, mostly from WWII but also including a few from the 1930s. They are arranged in chapters usually relating to particular campaigns with some accompanying text explaining the events in order to provide a context. The blurb says ‘900 comprehensively captioned images’ – I would disagree, as the captions tell you very little and a few of them are spectacularly wrong, which is a pity the as excellent selection of well reproduced images often tell you a great deal in the detail, which the author could have easily reflected in the captions through a minimum of research. Many areas are omitted altogether, but this may be due to the American bias.
