I loved this wee book. Its full of interesting facts and tales, many you might have heard when growing up. What are fairy rings? What's behind the standing stones, ancient walls and mysterious carvings on the hill side? Where to make a wish, why the hares like to box in March and where to make a wish and why do birds dance the ballet in the sky? Everything you have ever wanted to know, however strange is in here. It's wonderfully funny, totally factual and so engrossing I couldn't put it down 'till I reached the end a couple of hours later. I mean haven't we all asked about the strange ecology of the mysterious cowpat!! Well worth a look.
I have received this book in my secret santa from work and it is right up my street. It is full of amazing facts about the countryside along with traditions and folklore. It explores things such as standing stones, fearie rings, wishes at stiles, the Witch of Wookey Hole and so mnay more. A quirky little book which can be picked up time and time again.
Nice little book to dip into for with interesting facts about the countryside, and it encouraged me to add a couple of things to my "must visit" list. would've liked photographs to illustrate the items. I found myself googling things from every page
