Climate Change gave me a clear and accessible overview of one of the most urgent issues facing our planet. In this book, Benoit explains the science behind global warming, its impacts, and the choices humans can make to protect the Earth. The major themes in the book were environmental responsibility and scientific awareness, shown through explanations of rising temperatures, extreme weather, and human activity. The main genre of this book is informational nonfiction. Through reading this book, I learned about greenhouse gases and how individual actions can contribute to solutions. This book was a WOW book for me because it made complex science easy to understand.
The author used multiple literary devices and other forms of writing craft in this book. First, Benoit used text features, such as diagrams and sidebars. An example is the chart showing carbon emissions over time. This technique enhanced the book by helping readers visualize data.
Second, he used a cause‑and‑effect structure, explaining how human actions lead to environmental consequences. This technique enhanced the book by making the information logical and clear. I would consider this book anti‑bias because it encourages global responsibility and highlights how climate change affects vulnerable communities.

This topic is so important, I wish it were highlighted even more in elementary classrooms!
