People seem to be more interested in my name than where I get my ideas for my stories from. So I might as well share the story behind my name with all my readers.
My momma was born and raised in New Orleans. At the age of twenty, she met and fell in love with an Irishman named Patrick Riley Dwyer. Needless to say, the family was a bit taken aback by this as they hoped she would marry a family friend. It was a modern day arranged marriage kind of thing and my momma downright refused.
Being that my momma’s families were descendents of the original English speaking southerners, they wanted the family blood line to stay pure. They were wealthy and my father’s family was poor.
Despite attempts by my grandpapa to make Patrick leave and destroy the love between them, my parents married. They recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
I am one of six children born to Patrick and Lynn Dwyer. I am a combination of both Irish and a true southern belle. With a name like Dixie Lynn Dwyer it’s no wonder why people are curious about my name.
Just as my parents had a love story of their own, I grew up intrigued by the lifestyles of others. My imagination as well as my need to stray from the straight and narrow made me into the woman I am today.
This is going to be a 3-in-1 review, cause the whole Were Trilogy is, essentially, the same book. And for the purposes of the review I'll treat it as one entity and post this same review under all three books.
This trilogy had so much potential to be great! The concept is fun and sexy and has some adventure. However, the execution was a little painful (no pun intended). This was a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, because I liked the story and actually read all three books, which is why I gave it 2 stars. But I couldn't give it more than 2 stars, because the writing was awful.
All three books have heroines who are sexually inexperienced, independent women who had to survive on their own. All the heroes are Alpha wolves... blah blah blah. I get that cliches work and people like them. I read the books, so I'm no exception. However, a little variation here would have been appreciated. Also, the sex scenes were so repetitive that I had to start skipping over them. A little bit of creativity could have gone a long way.
What drove me crazy with this author is that everyone "states" everything. When I imagine someone "stating" something, I think of an authoritative, matter of fact type of statement. Kind of deadpan, even. Dixie Lynn Dwyer, however, thinks that everyone can state anything in any context.
"I love you," he stated. ... deadpan ... In the heat of passion ... "Mine," he stated... umm in the heat of passion, I'd expect him to growl it. He's a wolf for god's sake!
And just so you don't think my snarkiness is unjustified, I had my e-reader count the number of times "state," "stated," or "statement" appeared in all three books - Were She Belongs, Were Love Found Her, and Were Love Conquers All - and the combined number is over 400 times. That's scary.
Other quotes that make me sad:
"His eyes roamed over the cleavage of her chest..." as opposed to the cleavage of her ... ass? do we really need that distinction? I'd let it go, if it only happened once, but...
"Charity awoke, finding all three brothers holding her stare." umm... does she have three sets of eyes?
Also, Dixie Lynn Dwyer likes for her characters to "lock gazes." A lot. Folks were locking gazes left, right and sideways. In all three books there were a total 56 "locked gazes."
"She moaned and withered from the triple onslaught of sensations..." withered? that is not a word I'd associate with mind-blowing pleasure, more like slow horrifying death.
These are just some examples from all three books, I can go on. But I'll stop. I think you get the point.
I gave the trilogy two stars because I really wanted to like it. I actually finished it and the story itself had potential. But the writing was just ... not good. I tried out some books from Dixie Lynn Dwyer's other series and it's just more of the same.
Ok so I've fallen for a guilty pleasure. For anyone that may or may not give my grief for this, I fail to see how fifty shades is any different other the. Anywho, to this book.
The third installment to the werewolf erotica series, I was really excited to see how everything was going to sum up in the end, as it delivered nicely. At least I felt so. Dixie did a great job rounding the characters together from the three books as well as still giving a character who isn't just aware of her role and abilities an interesting dilemma to deal with but also avoiding making her too overpowered all the time.
We're the characters a little flat at time, yes. But I didn't expect Jane Austin character for this novel and frankly looking at the cover, who would. The book delivers exactly what it promises, a heated ménage romance with three utterly alpha male werewolves and one Aphrodite like woman. For erotica, what more do you want?
I love the previous two books, both of which were quite individual, and I do enjoy reading this one too, but I do have a couple of issues with it, however I’ll get to them later.
I enjoyed learning about the Chosen one, and seeing the previous Characters pop up so we can see how things have gone hears down the line is nice!
I enjoyed the addition of new Characters, and seeing more magical elements rearing up in this tale. As with the previous ones, the sex scenes are steamy and interesting, with a few provisos.
It frustrated me that in book three, Lexi and Toni seem to have different personalities suddenly. People grow and mature, but they seem entirely different in this book, and that’s frustrating.
Also, as much as I like the authors writing style, the fact that once again the female says no and the men basically say “tough” annoys me. These are strong, independent women. Or so they are described to be initially, so it has irritated me that this seems to go the same way at each point in the Trilogy.
Perhaps something for the Author to consider, would be having them try to build a relationship to get her attention? As much as I love Were type storylines, and I have reread these a few times, this is my least favourite purely because it once again is a strong female character, whom is pressured by use of sex.
I get it. We all get it. They’re attracted to one another. Mating instinct. GREAT. But I don’t see why this has to mean their relationship building the same way each time, through the men pressuring her into sex and using sex to then influence her emotions. It seems odd to me that this Character is supposed to be stronger and more dominant as the chosen one, yet the relationship still begins in much the same way.
Yet. That is just one thing that frustrates me. I still very much enjoy reading the trilogy, and it was my first delve into Reverse Harem romance, which has become a favourite genre for me! So the trilogy is WELL worth the read!
Maximus, Luther, Dante and Charity made this and exciting story to read and one of the best in the series. It is a well written paranormal romance that drew me in with the action and suspense surrounding the characters.
The final conflict in the ultimate paranormal battle royal is about to begin. It will bring together weres, Fae knights, vampires, a goddess, the last remaining royal were family, the Venificus triplets and at long last The Chosen One.
Were Love Conquers All is the third in the Were Trilogy series. The stories began with Lexi discovering her own inner strength with the help of her mates Paul, Sabre and Andre in Were Love Found Her. Book two, Were She Belongs, joined Antoinette together with Luke, Brad, Jacob and Troy. Without giving away too much in case you haven’t read the first two books, Lexi and Antoinette discover they have a connection that will only be complete when The Chosen One is revealed.
Ms. Dwyer knows how to build suspense and anticipation! She teases just enough in the first two books to have readers impatiently waiting for the final installment. It did not disappoint.
Princess Charity Massano has been in hiding since the fateful night her parents were viciously murdered. She has always known that she would one day have to face the evil that has tried to capture her and steal her powers. As with Lexi and Antoinette, Charity wasn’t meant to do battle alone. With the help of her fated mates, the very powerful Venificus triplets Maximus, Luther and Dante, Charity learns that there is strength in numbers, help is only a thought away and when the battle seems lost love is more powerful than evil!
Each book in the Were Trilogy is focused on the relationship of the heroine and her fated mates. They could be read as stand-alone stories because the plots are so detailed and engaging but I don’t suggest it. The underlying evil makes a steady progression from book one right up to the end of book three.
After having read all three in the series, the direction Ms. Dwyer chose to take the stories makes all the more sense. Lexi’s story had to be first and then the introduction of Antoinette and finally the revealing of Charity to the were world. One of the hallmarks of Ms. Dwyer’s writing is the strong female lead. They may be broken a bit but they refuse to be doormats. It’s easy to understand why the men are completely devoted to their care and happiness.
Charity’s character was slightly different than Lexi or Antoinette. After meeting the Venificus men I understand why she had to be different. These men are the Alpha’s Alpha and their mate had to be just as strong in spirit as they were. Charity has talents and skills that match her men but do not overshadow them. That ability to lead and be led is central to their relationship. One of my favorite scenes in the book is when Dante is pursuing Charity while giving her a tour of their house. The word that comes to mind is SENSUAL! I was every bit as breathless as Charity by the end of that scene!!
I don’t know if Ms. Dwyer plans to continue the series but there are some wonderful secondary characters that I would like to follow as well as some blessed events that give hope to the future of the were society.
If you haven’t read the prior two books in the trilogy then this is the perfect time to start at the beginning and read all three straight through. The stories are fast paced and the characters are wonderfully developed. If you like lots of exciting action as well as steamy romance check out Ms. Dwyer’s Were Trilogy today.
I really enjoyed Were Love Conquers All. It was my absolute favorite in the series. I enjoyed how the entire story came together. It was great seeing some of the same familiar characters and learning what's been going on with them. The chemistry between Maximus, Luther, Dante, and Charity was intense. But so was the power struggle. I can only imagine how hard it was for Charity to submit in a way her Royal Alpha males needed her to when she herself was of power. And in my opinion, more power than her mates. But I thought it was great that she was able to put her position aside for love. The battle between the many creature of good and evil was interesting. I really hope to see more of some of these characters in future books by Dixie. I really enjoyed this series and highly recommend it to others!
Anyway, this was a satisfying conclusion and a very good book. Full of love and action, and of course smex!
If you haven't read this trilogy, I recommend it, but read the whole thing from book 1 or you won't know about a lot of things mentioned in this book (or book 2 for that matter).
My only problem with this book was in the last chapter where a certain amount of something is mentioned, then a paragraph or two later, that number was mentioned again and it was different! Bad proof-reading, but most of the book was fine aside from that. It's just that it happened in an important place and was really distracting.
It's okay. What I observe is that all hero/heroine from book 1-3 is describe the same a virgin blonde with belly button. And all of them easily have tears on their cheeks everytime they hear a sad story. What a cry baby.
And some of the scene is like jumping from one place then another. It says they're together then the next page they are separate. It's distracting your flow of reading. It needs more fine editing.
But overall, it's a nice conclusion of all 3 books.
I really liked where this story went and how all the mystery stuff can't together but my only issue is the alpha's at times were completely annoying with their barefooted and pregnant thoughts. did at time spoil story because I was busy rolling my eyes and saying to myself 'what a dick'. other than that Good ending and HEA for all packs.
This book is great! This is the best one in the series by far. I absolutely love Maximus, Luther, and Dante. They are great individually and all together. I think the story and all the obstacles that the brothers and Charity had to overcome made this book a favorite for me.
Mega happy ending. Loved the final episode. Was hoping for a big battle and was not disappointed. Love Charity. Nice seeing everyone all together. Great series. You should really read them in order.
The trilogy comes to a conclusion. Did good overcome evil? Royal lines this time, accompanied with scorching hot scenes and plenty of dirty talk and alpha dominance.
