UN JEU VERS LE SOLEIL
Véronique a besoin d'air?! Cet été, c'est décidé, elle ira travailler en Ontario, question de se dépayser un peu. Garder un enfant de 4 ans, pour elle, ce n'est pas un boulot très exigeant, mais à son arrivée dans la famille de Max, elle aura la surprise de constater que son petit protégé a un grand frère... de 19 ans?!
Secret et distant, Thierry a tôt fait d'intriguer Véronique, qui décide de se mettre sur son cas. Pourquoi refuse-t-il de sortir de la maison?? Et, surtout, pourquoi évite-t-il son regard?? Gagnant peu à peu sa confiance, Véronique découvrira le drame qu'il vit, ses craintes, ses douleurs profondes et essayera de l'aider. Même si c'est malgré lui.
Pour son premier roman, Pascale Gingras nous offre une histoire remplie d'humour et de bonne humeur, mais surtout délicieusement romantique. Un récit intense qui se déploie tout doucement, comme les nuages s'écartent devant le soleil.

Un Jeu Vers Le Soleil - A Game Towards The Sun
I'll forever remember this story as one of the books that really got me into reading back when I was a teenager. It was written by a French Canadian author, so if you can read French, I would highly recommend reading it.
It's the story of Véronique, a teenage girl who gets a babysitting job in Ontario for the summer. It's a sort of immersion for her as she is learning to be more comfortable speaking in English and she'll be able to teach the four year old boy she's watching over to speak some French as well. But she never expected there would be a much older son around. Thierry, who has lost the ability to see, struggles with his new life, secludes himself and refuses to see anyone. Will Véronique be able to get him out of his shell?
I was looking through my bookshelf and when I saw the cover, it reminded me how obsessed I was with that story back then. The characters are likable, the romance is super cute and well done. It's too bad that it hasn't been translated to English, I feel many people would like it.

Clairement mon roman d’ado préféré! J’ai dévoré ce roman plusieurs fois pendant mon adolescence. J’en garde tellement de bons souvenirs! Une histoire touchante et différente de ce qu’on aurait pu s’imaginer.

Je n'ai pas gardé beaucoup de souvenirs des livres que je lisais plus jeune, mais celui-ci m'a profondément marquée. la plume de l'auteur m'avait complètement enchantée. Suivre Véronique alors qu'elle parvient peu à peu briser les barrières de Thierry m'a réellement touchée, au point où j'étais totalement investie dans leur histoire. Quinze ans plus tard, j'y repense encore très souvent. Quel magnifique livre.
