I read this quickly as a bit of a filler and it did an admirable job keeping me interested. It has good pace and I was convinced by the authors understanding of the legal process and his narration of the court scenes. The plot was hard to believe but 'want to believe' if you get my drift and I did have some reservations about the portrayal of criminals as hard done by victims, but by the end I felt the author had just about done enough to convince me that the Three strikes law had been abused even if he used some drugged out bums to prove his point while demonstrating the same callous disregard for their rights in setting them up so he could use them for a greater good. If you enjoy legal thrillers you will probably like this, but it does stretch one's credulity in terms of the main protagonists ability to morph from simple hard nut bum to tough sophisticated lawyer.

Great first novel. I wish that the author would write more. Touching back story, too.

In high school I loved John Grisham and the like, this book was similar, familiar as a crime and law novel like an old friend.
