Every child who has ever been tempted by blue skies and sunshine will identify with Tom's predicament: it's a beautiful day, and he wants to play at the swimming hole…not on the piano. So crafty Tom hides from Aunt Polly--what youngster in his place wouldn't? And that's what makes this perfectly crafted excerpt from an acknowledged classic so enjoyable on its own.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens, known by the pen name Mark Twain, was an American writer, humorist and essayist. He was praised as the "greatest humorist the United States has produced," with William Faulkner calling him "the father of American literature." His novels include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), with the latter often called the "Great American Novel." Twain also wrote A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1889) and Pudd'nhead Wilson (1894), and co-wrote The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today (1873) with Charles Dudley Warner.
Tom Sawyer is a very fascinating book. I 👍 how the author wrote the book and how easy it was to get the book! This is a great book to read in your spare time and I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to pay much money on a book. I will be starting part two.
I'm honestly unsure what all the fuss is about. I struggled to get through the story. This was a bad intro to Mark Twain. I will try one more story I guess...
I have not met a soul who has not loved this story that has been the part of their childhood. I love the naughty (Chapter 1) ingenious (Chapter 2) and the innocent, fragile and vulnerable Tom in the chapter 3. We were like him in some way or the other and the connect makes reading this story so much entertaining.
Just rereading books that are considered classics, some forty years later for this one. As the saying goes, it's not my cup of tea. There's quite a difference in the language than what I was expecting. Very short read so try it, you might like it.
