Zumdahl's chemistry textbooks are among the very best introductory chem textbooks I have ever used -- as a student or a teacher. I used this one (and the previous edition) for 10 years as a high school chemistry teacher, and it is probably the best HS chemistry text out there, bar none.

The language is easy to read and to understand, the examples and problems are straightforward yet challenging, and the occasional sidebar is interesting without being distracting.

Bought this for school but find myself rereading a couple times a year to brush up on basics and keep myself engaged in chemistry.
