I, Dandelion “Dani” Wright, am twenty-six years old and have yet to be deflowered. No man has hosed my hyacinth, fondled my freesia, or diddled my daffodil. You get the point. My excuse? I was too busy running my family’s flower shop and winning floral-design competitions.Suddenly that whole pesky virginity thing becomes a big deal when Jacob West walks back into my life. He’s the boy I once loved―the boy who once humiliated me when he stood me up for prom. This Jacob is no boy he’s all man now―confident, charming, and so sexy my metaphorical blossoms are getting scorched. I can almost forget I’m supposed to hate him forever…almost. To make things worse, he’s my main competition now, since he took over his parents’ flower shop. If I give in to this sizzling attraction between us, it could jeopardize everything I’ve worked so hard to achieve. But if I’m not careful, he might not just be the first man to pluck my petals―he might also be the only man to capture my heart.

A brand new romance incorporating two characters that have a past that brings them together in the present for the best of ways...

Okay... but okay... Oh my god! I am so excited to actually write this review! This novel is one of those books that you were expecting something light and fun to enjoy, and when you start reading it and it makes you laugh out loud, you just KNOW that this is an IT novel. Iris Morland is a new author for me and I am beyond glad that I gave her a chance. This novel, which I am hoping is the first installment to a brand new series in which I am already hyping up and want more and more of. And can we talk about this cover?! Oh my goodness, the color yellow is making a hit pop this year with all these amazing covers! I mean, just look at The Bride Test and at Meet Cute, two of my favorite books this year featuring the popping color yellow as well. Petal Plucker has become one of my favorites this year as well! Is it because of the spring fever? The spring vibes? If so, then count me in!

Now, let's talk about this novel shall we? In this beauty, we are introduced to Dandelion aka "Dan" and Jacob, childhood friends who become enemies and then lovers. All the amazing tropes in one novel!

But in all seriousness, something this novel has and does not as well due to the fact that it made me laugh so hard in some scenes, Iris has created a brand new novel that will take your breath away with the chemistry they both have. Dan is a family flower shop owner who comes across Jacob after so many years of not seeing each other. After many heart broken moments and one in particular in highschool, Dan learned not to trust Jacob because of the actions he took and after so long she is unsure of whether she can trust him ever again. But Jacob is different, and giving him a second chance is hard for Dan. Especially when he also looks different, and makes her drool over how attractive he turned out to be. His history with women is also something Dan is aware of, but after many encounters and some passionate kissing, Dandelion knows that having a guarding wall up for her emotions is one that Jacob is slowly breaking down.

Knowing of her innocence, Jacob needs to take that into consideration when being with Dan. And once he does have her, that possessive alpha male I was looking for has arisen. Dan knows that getting emotional with Jacob is going to destroy her if it does not turn in the bright way. When they are finally together though, Dan is in this lovey-dovey world where she has become obsessed with... yup, SEX. Once she had it, she cannot get enough of it and to be honest, I can relate. I love everything about Dan! She is just a sun filled with so much energy that makes you want to be around her all the time. Jacob is this strong minded individual, who yes had a past with Dan but does change for the better good of himself and his family. And when they are together both physically and emotionally, the passion and connection is real.

Overall, I am so glad I gave Iris' novel a chance because I am forever madly in love with her writing. If you do not add this baby to your TBR, then I have no idea what you are waiting for! Thank you so much to Iris for letting me read her novel, I am beyond excited for everyone to have some fun as well. My hands are already itching for her next novel, which I am keeping my fingers crossed it's Kate's novel, Dandelion's younger sister ;)

THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD UNTIL IT FUCK IT UP. I'M SO MAD. WHY????

This book started so good!!!!, and it was so entertaining. It was fast, cute, hot, and funny. And then, the last five chapters fuck it up so bad.
Since the beginning of the book, you kind of assume what the eventual problem is going to be (though I was wishing it wasn't going to be that). And then when the guy fucks up I got so annoyed.
Like, this fucking moron fucks up very badly and kind of implies it Dandelion's fault because she has high standards and I don't know what the fuck more. But the thing is, that she had trust issues because of you and then you go and fuck it up again. You literally prove her point.
I'm glad the moron of the guy tried to fix the issues by telling the truth but still, they solved their problems so fast and immediately fuck as if nothing happened!!! And then all the excuses he said and bitch, do I look like I give a damn? Go choke. He played her throughout the book; hell, he played her even before the book "started", when they were younger. He used her and manipulated her, and it was very gross. Fuck you, Jacob.
And the end? When she decided to help him? Fuck that, I would have been like: go fuck yourself, idc.
I'm so very disappointed because this had SO MUCH POTENTIAL. I was robbed of a great book and now I'm fucking pissed.

As you see I can't write something coherent because I'm fucking mad with the author, the characters, the story, everything. I'm might read the second one, but I'm not sure. If this mess of a plot is what I'm going to find, then no, thank you.

Very poorly written and even though the mc is 26 she is very immature. The main love interest is underdeveloped. Just because a woman is 26 and a virgin doesn’t mean she’ll think about it and talk about it all the time. It doesn’t mean she’s immature either and it doesn’t mean she has to get rid of it just because

Petal Plucker was a fun, flirty and steamy read perfect for springtime—it was all about the plants and buds and blooms in this one. Although as much as it had its highs, it also had its lows. I ended up feeling torn over this because it honestly had a promising start for me. The story had so much potential. And don’t get me wrong, there were moments that did make me laugh and snort a little—those plant metaphors were seriously witty and hilarious—and some that even made me go aww. I was enjoying Dani and all of her quirkiness… But somewhere down the line, the vibe of the book just kind of plateaued.

I liked Dandelion Wright (aka Dani). I even saw a little bit of myself in her with the way she loved coming home from work, parking her butt on the couch and just watched Chopped to chill. She had such an interesting personality and had even more entertaining inner monologues. But as much as I liked her, I don’t think I was really able to reach that point where I fully connected with her character.

And don’t get me started with Jacob West. I think I’m still pretty much undecided about him even after finishing the book. His personality just ran extremely hot and cold that it almost gave me whiplash. I also held onto hope that he’d be able to redeem himself after that prom night incident, but I didn’t really feel his effort to do so. He said his piece and apologized, but it was done in such a nonchalant way that threw me off completely. It just lacked emotion—like he didn’t truly care about what he did and the resulting blow of it to Dani all those years ago. I mean, he did try to make up for all of it later on… I guess it just wasn’t enough and didn’t hit the spot for me.

Although Petal Plucker fell a little short for me, I’m still excited that Dani’s sisters, Mari and Kate, will be getting their own books too. Especially after seeing glimpses of how they were in this one, I can’t wait to get to know them more and see who they’d actually end up with.

26-year old Dani runs her parents’ flower shop—Buds and Blossoms—in Seattle, Washington and somehow, Dani is still a virgin, yet to be deflowered. The irony is not lost on Dani and she wants to remedy her virginity status fast. Dani hasn’t had the best luck when it comes to dating. 9-years ago, her childhood crush stood her up at prom and her love life has been doomed since.

The boy who broke her heart, Jacob, is the Romeo to her Juliet—their parents run competing flower shops and the two families have always been rivals. But Dani fell hard for Jacob—on 3 separate occasions—before he wrecked her heart when she was 17-years old.

Dani doesn’t expect to see Jacob again after he leaves Seattle for NYC, but unexpectedly he walks into her flower shop, back in Seattle for good, after not seeing each other for nearly a decade. Jacob’s return to Seattle causes some unresolved feeling to resurface for Dani. And some new ones appear to be blossoming as well.

Although she said she’d never trust Jacob again, the heart wants what the heart wants, and Dani not only wants Jacob to take her virginity, but she wants him to give her his heart in return. But if Dani opens herself up to Jacob, she could be left heartbroken yet again.

Petal Plucker Iris Morland is the first book in The Flower Shop Sisters series. This is labeled as a steamy romantic comedy and I agree, that’s exactly what this was! It was a little on the short side at only about 200 pages, but I enjoyed this quick gem! I really liked Dani’s character—usually I’m not a fan of the virgin trope, but here it worked. I wish Jacob’s character was flushed out more, rather than remaining on the surface. Maybe this story could’ve benefited from dual perspective instead of being from Dani’s until the epilogue. This certainly won’t be my last time reading a book by this author and I can’t wait to read book 2! 3/5 stars.

Whyyy??? Why is this happening to me??? 😭😭😭

I started this book in hopes of having a great time reading a fun rom-com with a possibly good chemistry and banter. But don't get fooled by the pretty cover guys! I just wasted 2 hours of my life 😭

This book is about Dandelion (Dani) and Jacob who were best friends in school but ever since Jacob stood her up for prom, they have had no contact till nine years later, when Jacob walks into her flower shop. He has come back to town to take over his own family flower shop since his dad isn't keeping well to run the business. And voila, they start talking... and even though Dani is scarred for life and has grown up with trust issues because of Jacob, she cannot get over her undying attraction to Jacob. Few minutes later, they start boinking 🙄
That's it. That's the story.
Oh, also that Dani is a 26 year old virgin and the author never let's us slip that part 🙄 because of course, how is a girl supposed to be accepted in the world if she's a virgin at this age?!?

Oh man! I wish I could say this book was funny, but it was not. If it actually was with 17-19 year old characters, it would have been slightly more believable because I refuse to accept that someone at 26 could be this immature. And I don't know what her obsession was with connecting everything to sex?!? Like, a person could be talking about global warming to her and she'd somehow manage to connect it to sex. 😥 Even eroticas are better, honestly. At least they don't promise you one thing just to deliver something else that's half-baked.

I literally could not stand our heroine. She was so judgemental and she was so damaged from being dumped at prom that she let it control her for majority of her adult years. That's why she can't commit and im like girl... Girl... She was also so obsessed with her not having sex I got so tired bye. Also our hero was nothing to write home about. And this book was a lot steamer than expected judging by BOTH cover changes. It was very misleading. However, i didnt care about the steamy scenes lol. You have to read the books in order because the other sisters life blows up in this one.

2.5/5
1 star for the book, 1 star for the cover and 0.5 is for the flowers.
This book is useless to me.
Beautiful cover but weak plot and boring characters.
Why some chicklit books always have hasty relationship? I feel like the 2 main characters just need 2 minutes to fall in love and 5 minutes to have sex with each other == Chemistry and fluffy moments are nowhere to be found. I couldn't believe that I wasted 2 hours to read it in hopes of finding some cute moments.

"I get that. Sometimes it's hardest to admit the truth to yourself, let alone to people you love."

Humorous, raunchy, and refreshing. Petal Plucker has rightfully earned its way,in my opinion, as one of the best romantic comedy book this year, with all the right reasons. This is a second-chance friends-to-lovers story between two people who got reacquainted after almost a decade apart. As I was reading this, I could imagine a movie playing out in my head. Proving the author skilled writing in making it life-like and entertaining.

Dandelion 'Dan' Wright had been unlucky in love as far as she could tell. Dan lives in Portland with her parents and two sisters, aside from running her parents' flower shop, her hobby includes creating floral designs for a competition she'd never lost before.

Never in a million year she would've thought that her life-long crush would walk inside her flower shop; Jacob West. The golden boy everyone loves. The one who moves to NYC and dates supermodels and the likes. The one reason she only date douche bags with zero commitment plans. Now, he's staying and working for his parents' flower shop A.K.A her competition.

Dandelion and Jacob's story is a romantic comedy at its best. They have past history together and it did not end up well for Dandelion. What follows is a rekindling passion between two friends-turn-enemies-turn-lovers. As Dandelion tries to see reason over what happened and learns to forgive Jacob, she's slowly opening her heart to him.

I wasn't expecting it to be as steamy at it is. But I love it. They have the perfect chemistry together. Dandelion is a bashful character, the typical girl-next-door. I LOVE her energy because she's a radiant being. Jacob has redeeming qualities about him. He's not very altogether at first, especially with what's been going on. But his effort is undoubted.

Their romantic development is in a fast-track to steam town. When they finally break the barriers of emotion it is explosive and edgy with a streak on the wild side. I like that they don't have any inhibitions when it comes to each other.

All in all, this a book you don't want to miss. I am so glad to be able to receive an e-ARC for this book! I enjoyed my reading experience with this book. So, get ahead and pack this book on your tbr right now!

This was my first book by the author and will not be the last. This was a super cute, and absolutely hilarious romantic comedy! It’s the first in a series about three sisters. This one is about Dandelion (Dani) and her childhood crush, Jacob. She runs her family’s flower shop and he has come back into town to run his parent’s flower shop. It was a bit like Romeo and Juliet with florists! The parents had a big rivalry, that the kids really didn’t play into. It’s all from Dani’s POV with some of her past memories interspersed through the present.

There was a lot to love about this book. I personally loved the sisters and the relationship they had. The parents were also pretty funny too. Dani was seriously the best! She was hilarious, quirky, strong and determined. But, she also had a few flaws, which definitely made her a more realistic character. She was also a virgin, which resulted in some pretty funny comments from her throughout the book! It was a bit like a second chance romance, except that she had always had a crush on Jacob, but they’d never actually dated. She did put him on a pedestal; one I don’t think he deserved.

The only thing I struggled with was Jacob. You really can’t get more than surface level with him. I couldn’t tell you much about his character, and what I did learn, I wasn’t impressed with. Then, he did something pretty horrible. You kind of understand why he did it, but I don’t think he ever totally redeemed himself. I wish the book had dual POV because I feel like I may have understand and liked him more. The epilogue is from his POV and it kind of summed a lot of the book up but I wanted a little bit more from him.

Overall, the book was a lighthearted, truly funny romantic comedy that I really enjoyed reading. I’m so looking forward to Mari and Kate’s books!

* I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Okay, so I dove into Petal Plucker for a specific challenge. So I'm just going to be completely honest - it was never on my radar until yesterday. But since I'm a sucker for romcoms, I was kind of excited for this one.

In it, you will meet Dani and Jacob. She's your typical virgin who gets hot and bothered by the sexy confident man who just waltz into her life. Entering into the steamy romance scenes between these two and I was definitely hooked. I will admit, though, that I wanted more after I got what I got.

These two had the Romeo and Juliet romance vibes. It didn't seem completely forbidden but the competition between family owned flower shops drove me to think this way. So when the drama came between these two, I wasn't completely surprised by any of it. It was bound to happen and in some ways it felt a bit predictable.

Not sure what's going to happen in the next two books but I'm down to dive into them.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Boys who stand girls up for prom should end up with a beer gut, a large hairy mole on their face, and a distinct body odor that no deodorant could eradicate. It was only fair.

I had been wanting a light and fun novel to read. I got that along with full on laugh out loud moments from beginning to end! First, I fell hard for the cover. I mean, it is such an eye-catcher! And then Cristina from @cristiinareads sold me when she would share screenshots of some hilarious moments of the story and I knew I had to jump in.

There were no chairs light enough for me to throw at Jacob. Also I was pretty sure that, like poisoning someone, throwing chairs was illegal in Canada.

Dani and Jacob were childhood friends until they weren't. Years later, Jacob is back home and Dani can't help all that rush of feelings coming back at the sight of him. At the same time, she isn't sure if she should trust him. Jacob came back to run his parents flower shop, which Dani's parents think it is to take over Dani's family flower shop. But Dani sees he's really just trying to save his family.

I had to either turn around and face Jacob or stare at the wall until we both died. I decided on the latter choice. I refused to look at him.

I loved Dani from the get-go. She's so beyond outspoken! It's like she doesn't have a filter at all, which I adore so much. It makes for some funny scenes. And being inside her mind is unbelievably funny. Her thoughts are some of the randomest, funniest thoughts you'll ever come across. I love how light and free she is, with so much energy! Her friendship/relationship with Jacob is so sweet! Jacob becomes such an alpha male once he has Dani and that was amazing to see. I also like how he truly changes for her and makes up for the mistake he had committed in the past (I aw'ed so hard at this particular scene!). The connection between these two characters is unreal. It's like they never had gotten separated and had always been together.

I totally panicked, and I started running. Another thing I never do: run. Running is terrible. It was invented by Satan and pushed by people who hated themselves.

Overall, I'm keeping Iris in my eyesight. I need more of her writing. I cannot wait until more books come out featuring some of the characters in this novel because I just know they will be amazing. If you're in need of something funny to make you forget real life and have your own comedy show in your hands, I highly recommend Petal Plucker! I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment, which is on Dani's younger sister, Kate!

Things I liked: set in Seattle, the flower shop setting, an older (26) contemporary virgin heroine who doesn't have anything "wrong" with her, it just never happened.

Things I didn't love but didn't dislike: the sex scenes, which is honestly on me, when something bills itself as a steamy contemporary you're either going to get a lot of sex you really like or a lot of sex you're just meh on and this was the latter for me, which is a problem when it's such a focus of the book!

Things I wish had been different: I'm not entirely sure when they fell in love? I mean, the heroine has been in love with the hero on and off since childhood, so fine, I get it, but the hero just came back and took one look at the heroine and fell in love? It could happen, sure, I just didn't feel like they knew each other as ADULTS (and hell, from the sounds of it, not really since they were actual kids, not even the teenagers they were when he stood her up on prom night.) I get why it ended with a proposal, since she is but I personally would have been much happier with a HFN ending instead of that.

Still, glad I took a chance on this all things considered and that cover is GORGEOUS. I may pick up the next one because accidentally married in Vegas is decidedly my jam.

This was such a disaster!
Petal Plucker looks and sounds like an easy, light, funny read but you get a 26 yo girl who is acting very juvenile and thinks about sex all the time. Someone mentions ANYTHING and she finds a way how to connect the thing with sex. It was so irritating. Also, there are funny scenes but they are very artificially created and therefore not funny. And I will not get into the insta-love and ridiculous storyline.

Happy Reading, friends!

If you’re ready for some steam, be sure to check out Petal Plucker by Iris Morland, pronto! I always love starting a new series. Even better, if the series is sexy, fun & the books are quick reads. The Flower Shop Sister series is a blast. Iris brings all the heat & I’m here for it.

WHO NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK?
Read Petal Plucker by Iris Morland if you’re in a slump. Surely, the new take on Romeo & Juliet with dueling Flower Shops in Seattle will reinvigorate your love for reading. If you love Happily Ever After novels, then you’re in luck. Iris leaves me beaming after finishing Petal Plucker & I want more books in this series right now! We are in luck because book 2, He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, is out now!

Rom-com lovers rejoice. Petal Plucker by Iris Morland is cute, swoon-worthy & hot as hell. I also love the sister relationships. I’m so glad this is a series! I can’t wait to see where the storylines go.

THE VERDICT

I am Really Into This book! I have to mention that Iris references George Michael’s Careless Whisper several times in Petal Plucker. As if I could even love this book more as of course, I love George Micahel so much!

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book*

5 Stars!!!

*happy sigh* I’m in romantic comedy heaven. I’m bursting with so many happy feelings. From start to finish this book hooked me and had me laughing nonstop and smiling so big. I couldn’t get enough of everything this book offered. I’ve already gone back and read my favorite parts, but honestly who am I kidding, the whole book is my favorite.

Dandelion (Dani) is quirky and she embraces her quirks and without care what people think. She doesn’t trust easily and rightfully so. She’s known Jacob since they’ve been five years old and became fast friends. And at her young age, Dani’s crush on Jacob started. But later on something happens that has left Dani heartbroken and has her seeing Jacob in a different light. Dani didn’t think she’d ever see Jacob again, but when he comes into her flower shop she’s surprised to see him, and it brings back all those trust issues to the surface.

There were so many things I needed to know about Jacob. He was sort of a mystery to me. I didn’t understand what led him to some of the things he did, so I needed answers. And I needed to understand his hot and cold behavior because it frustrated me. Little by little I did get those answers and it made things clearer. And another thing that was clear was the feelings Jacob was developing for Dani.

It was clear that when Jacob returned back to town that there were sparks between Dani and him. And what I liked the most was the progression of their friendship. They caught up on the past years and got to know about the people they are now. And slowly their friendship evolves and feelings grow big. And let me tell you, Dani and Jacob are something spectacular.

Petal Plucker, the first book in The Flower Shop Sisters series was a great introduction to a series that is sure to be addicting. It has an abundance of laughs, it’s steamy, and is filled with fantastic characters. I can’t wait for the next book, I need it now!

I wanted to like this book. I wanted to LOVE this book. I will instabuy anything with florists or botanists and this book had TWO so I was prepared to puffy heart eyes love it.

Friends, this book is terrible. Every chapter is told exclusively from the perspective of our heroine, “Dani” Dandelion, a 26 year old virgin suffering from arrested development with the emotional intelligence of a 16 year old. We see almost nothing from and hear almost nothing from the “hero,” Jacob, until he starts spewing out really badly written dirty talk somewhere in the back half of the novel. This first person narrative is so firmly entrenched in Dani’s experience of Jacob, her memories of their childhood relationship, and her atrocious parents’ perception of his family that there’s very little time for Dani to interact with the actual grown man who has returned to their neighborhood after nine years supposedly scoring success after success in NYC as an NYU MBA grad and career in finance. Dani is insufferable, and Jacob appears to be nothing more than a sexy lamp she’s panting after because she fell for him as a kid. He has no personality (none. None whatsoever. In flashbacks, he’s vaguely the shape of a perfect guy, in the present, he literally only avoids her or is dirty talking her,) no clever dialogue, no reason to like Dani that I could detect, but he keeps coming around anyway.

This book really reads like a bad YA story from a decade ago and all the characters skew younger than they are. Attempts to make the audience laugh are mostly just gross (Dani’s father accidentally showing her a nude pic of himself comes to mind) and her best friend calling her b*itch, sl*t, and wh*re. Do women still talk to each other that way?

All the drama for the first 80% of the book exists solely in Dani’s head and all of it could’ve been avoided if Dani and Jacob did something totally wild and TALKED to each other, instead of be evasive and angsty for no reason and then have improbable sex? Dani’s immaturity was bad enough, but then Jacob finally DID SOMETHING in the book and that something was freaking terrible. The climax of their dramatic tension rests on Jacob literally stealing Dani’s intellectual property and then gaslighting her about her trust issues and calls her insane...after he STOLE from her. And her best friend agrees with him??? Friends, no, that’s not forgivable or acceptable, no matter what his motivations were or what Grand Gestures he staged that evidenced his apparent affection.

It’s a mess. It’s a childish, unbearable mess.

Overall this was a good read. Dani and Jacob grew up together. Of course Dani has been in love with him on and off her whole life. When he comes back to town they start spending time together. It would have been better if Dani wasn't so high and mighty. She could mess up but nobody else could. that bugged me. However, they got it all worked out in the end. I did like her sisters so I look forward to reading their stories next.

My holy grail of romance novels is sweet but sexy, one that brings on the feels as well as the steam. Petal Plucker is a holy grail romance! 😍

Dandelion (Dani) Wright runs her family’s Seattle flower shop, Buds and Blossoms. She finds herself in the awkward position of having a vase stuck on her hand one day when the one who got away, Jacob West, walks into her shop and back into her life.

Dani and Jacob have history. They grew up as childhood friends and Dani has always crushed on Jacob from afar—until high school, when she got up the nerve to ask him to prom and he said yes. That joy was short-lived when Jacob stood up Dani on prom night. Unforgivable, right?

Now twenty-six, Dani spends all her time devoted to the shop and to her one-eyed, three-legged cat. Although she’s dated some interesting characters, she has yet to find a serious boyfriend…until Jacob comes back to town.

Jacob is back from New York to help his parents run their respective flower shop. Dani’s parents and Jacob’s parents have always been rivals, lending the story a Romeo and Juliet air (think more flowers and less death). As Jacob re-enters Dani’s life, she discovers that the boy she once dreamed of has transformed into a charming, sexy man.

Petal Plucker hits some of my favorite tropes: friends to lovers, second chances, and the good old fashioned hero grovel. In fact, this book contains a grovel so epic, I might have actually clutched my nonexistent pearls when I read it. I’m a huge sucker for a well-written grovel and Petal Plucker delivers the goods.

It’s also a fantastic mix of humor and steam. If you like a dirty-talking hero, this is the book for you. In addition, I adored Dani’s sense of humor, along with her equally entertaining sisters. I’m looking forward to more stories about the flower shop sisters.

The author managed to pack a lot of heart into a shorter story, but I love this book so hard and cannot wait to read more from this author. I adore Petal Plucker and highly recommend it!

Many thanks to the author for providing me with an advance copy of this book.

In Iris Morland I’ve found a new go-to author. Petal Plucker is an amazing read that I can’t recommend enough. In Dandelion Wright and Jacob West we get a love story built on unrealized childhood crushes, and an enemies (family grievances) to much more love story, and ultimately a story about taking chances and forgiveness.
When Jacob returns home to help his family run their flowers store, he and Dani begin to find themselves u each others company, and the effects are glorious. As Dani recounts the many times in which she’s fallen in love with Jacob, we get a view of their history and discover why Jacob isn’t the hero she once thought him to be.
“My knight in shining armor. I still hated him, because he never failed to turn my entire life upside down and I was tired of it.”
There’s a bit of angst and heartbreak and while the wall around Dani’s heart remains intact, we learn just why she should rise above and forgive. It’s not all about their chemistry, but indeed that plays a large part of it. Jacob is a dreamboat and quite frankly a man who does “dirty talk” a service.
Family members, especially older sister Mari and her best friend Anna are front and center in the wonderful cast of secondary characters. I’m thrilled to recommend this book and I look very much forward to reading more about the Wright sister, and hoping for Anna’s story too. In the interim I look forward to gobbling up the rest of Iris Morlands’ library.

If I didn’t know any better, I would say that the author lowkey hates Dani.

She ended up with a guy who used her unrequited love for his personal gain. The Hero point-blank manipulated her. So, no offence, but I don’t see the romance ideals in this whole shenanigans.

I don’t understand the attraction between the two. This was addressed a little in the book but I don’t feel that there was ever in the book where Dani truly loved Jacob. She idealised him too much, put him on a pedestal as this perfect being who could do no wrong.

Except for the time he stood up for prom with her because his beautiful ex-girlfriend wanted him back. But even that was easily forgotten, because Jacob has a beautiful face and a magic dick.

Literally the only thing that goes inside her head when Jacob is around is sex. I’m not sure if it was intended to be hilarious but it was so unfunny it physically hurt. C+ for effort but it just made the heroine seems vapid, shallow and weak. Like she didn’t have the strength to stick to her resolve to make Jacob work for it.

In a twist of irony, Jacob who was idealised by Dani throughout her whole life ended up being just any other douchebag. That was the funniest part of the story, I think. I never truly felt like he redeemed himself because Dani was too pussy-brained to even make him work for it.

I was provided a free ARC of this book for an honest review.

The premise sounded cute. Sadly I did not enjoy this book at all. I disliked pretty much all the characters, but I particularly couldn't stand Dani. She spoke about love frequently, how many times she had fallen in love with the same man over the course of her lifetime. Yet everytime she was in a room with him her sole focus was sex. She thought about nothing else, they did nothing else. What little plot that existed was also extremely predictable.
