I confess. I'm feeling like I don't quite have graphic novel literacy yet. Sure, I can follow the cues for when we're in a dream or when something's happening in the mind, not out loud. But these stories have a lot to take in! It's tempting to follow the action and rapidly flip the pages, but watch out...you'll miss some finer points on the characters, critical details for the future storyline and some a-mazing artistry. Wow, this guy can draw!

I love how the distance scenes almost look like a picture. The coloring is so crisp and perfectly set to the create the mood of the moment. I can't imagine the work that went into each page; I feel guilty just turning pages to follow the story. I've taken to reading it again, after I've read it, just to stare at the pictures some more.

As always I thoroughly enjoy falling into the worlds that Mr Kibuishi creates. I've learned to take my time enjoying the illustrations as well as the storyline and the character developments the way the Chinese enjoy their tiny bowls of rice.

Vol. 1 The Stonekeeper ~ Well, this has definitely caught my attention. Interesting characters, intriguing premise, fascinating world buckling, beautiful art. I can certainly see why so many people like this series.

Vol. 2 Stonekeeper’s Curse ~ I enjoyed this volume a bit more than the first. In part, most likely, because things are making sense now that some explanations were provided.

Vol. 3 The Cloud Searchers ~ A fun romp that moves the story onward, with increasing complexities to backstories and motivations, but still maintains its whimsical origins.

i like this book because it is a comic book and really easy to read. this is a story about stone keepers who has magical powers. a important lesson i learned from this book is always be your self and don't let people change you. there is a bad character that tries to take control of you and use you.
