When a man with mint-green eyes steps from a lake and offers to rescue Danii’s dog in exchange for three days of total obedience, it’s obvious he must be either joking or crazy. She must be the crazy one, though, because somehow, she ends up saying yes.
Being a police officer, she usually knows how to handle the crazies, but when it comes to Heketoro, she’s the one being handled. Each day their lovemaking becomes wilder and Danii discovers exactly how far this man can take her. Though the tattoos drawing themselves on his body make it clear he’s not quite human, to Danii what’s more important is their burgeoning love for each other.
To Heketoro, what's important is one last ritual of love needed to break an ancient curse that prevents him from returning to his world. But as the time draws near, his enemies return and threaten to destroy him by using his only weakness -- Danii.

Heketoro is a Fae who was cursed to the human realm for 100 years. He now has three days left to break that curse and for that, he's chosen Danii who he's gotten to agree to three days of dominance, aka total submission for the curse to be broken. The charm for breaking the curse is sex, and it's crazy hot sex. Danii had a feeling there was a connection to Heketoro, she seems to remember from childhood. There is no way I can describe the complex attraction or abilities of human and fae, but it works and it steamy! I was thoroughly interested with all that occurs to break the 100 year curse and the power Heketoro has over Danii, plus her own compulsion to be with and do anything for him. I highly recommend this book for a great read with an unusual premise. I also would love to read a sequel to see how everything turns out. This is not a cliffhanger but it does leave you wanting to know more.
This was an interesting version of Fae and their interactions with humans. I enjoyed it. As suggested by the title of the book, there were D/s elements to the story. I found it interesting that Danii dreamed about him/it before it actually happened. I also found it interesting when the Justice explained to Danii that water tops fire, so does earth. Made me kind of wonder whether Danii could top anyone, lol. I also found it interesting that the curse would make humans forget, but Danii was able to resist somewhat. I loved that while Heketoro was so dominant, he could also be so incredibly tender -- I'm thinking about the ceremony they did for her friend and brother.
This story was chock full of sex, but I suppose that's one thing the Fae are known for. I was happy with how it ended. I'm wondering if there might be a follow-up to show us how Danii fares or what happened with Heketoro's half-sister.
Three Days of Dominance is a story full of heat, passion, and intrigue. Author Cari Silverwood has managed to create something unique in the paranormal genre, combining elements of BDSM with fantasy. The result is something that is refreshing, although certain elements fail to reach their full potential.
The heroine, Danii, is a police officer who has no problem standing on her own. Her job isn’t easy, so she turns to alcohol to dull the pain she experiences. Fortunately, happiness exists in her life in the form of her companion and dog, Killer. One day while walking Killer she finds herself in a spot of trouble. To her shock, a man offers to help her in exchange for three days of obedience. Thinking he’s a bit confused and out of sorts, Danii agrees, although she has no idea what exactly it is she’s signed on for.
Several elements of Three Days of Dominance ensure a reader will keep turning the pages; namely the hero, Heketoro. He seems to exist at the lake where Danii encounters him, but ultimately he is a mystery. As his story unfolds and you learn of his history the book takes on a paranormal/fantasy edge. At this point Danii has to reconcile her feelings for the strange man she can’t stop thinking about, decide if she believes he is what he says he is, and choose whether or not she wants to help him. These portions of the story are heightened by sizzling sex scenes that erotic romance fans are sure to enjoy. Although it should be stated that the scenes, while containing dominant and submissive undertones, do not delve too deeply into BDSM play. Never fear, however, as the chemistry between Danii and Heketoro is explosive.
While there are many positive things to state about Three Days of Dominance, there are negatives as well. First and foremost, there are scenes within the book that, at first glance, appear to serve a purpose. However, they are never fully explored or utilized to the fullest extent. For example: the reader is told on numerous occasions that the ceremony that must take place to return Heketoro to his realm is very dangerous and could put Danii’s life in danger. There is a lot of build up to the actual scene, in which the reader is informed Danii will have to show absolute obedience. Yet when the scene arrives, it’s extremely hot but disappointing. Likewise the ending leaves much to be desired. While the Danii and Heketoro have their happily for now, their journey begins anew. Perhaps Three Days of Dominance is part of a series, which means readers will discover what occurs at a later time. Considering the genre and source material it is worth noting that, while the book does resolve the primary conflict in Three Days of Dominance, the ending appears to be the beginning of a new story.
The technical aspects, such as writing, pace, and style is solid. Ms. Silverwood has a lovely voice and an ear for dialogue. The interaction between her characters feels very organic and her sex scenes sizzle. As an added bonus her world build is fascinating and she’s laid the foundation for a very compelling series if she decides to take Three Days of Dominance beyond one book.
I would recommend this novel to fans of erotic fantasy with BDSM elements, particularly those who enjoy stories involving magic and mystical creatures. If you’ve not read Three Days of Dominance this just might be the story you’re searching for.
A protective water fae saving a troublesome dog propels Danii into a mythical world she never knew. He only asks for one thing in return for saving the dog, sexual submission. Hot diggity dog! I love water creatures and sexual submission!
Since Danii is drinking her life away, meeting a man who has been starring in her deviant sex dreams is a shock to her system. Heketoro is a water fae trapped in the human world. He needs Danii's help to break a curse and allow him to return home. They make a bargain – Heketoro saves her friend's dog and she submits to him for three days.
Depressed Danii has nothing to lose, as she is all alone. Her brother is missing in action searching for the Taliban. Her sister, Amy, is in a different country, happily married. Danii's job as a cop brings her to a low as people she's trying to save don't want to be saved or are too hopeless to be saved.
From there, the story becomes a bit foggy and waterlogged. The reader is treated to sex, lies and memory erasures. At times, it's hard to follow along the story as Danii is kidnapped or having her mind wiped. What I can confirm, some of the sex in the story is quite lovely. The forced female on female touching was delicious. I wasn't expecting any fisting and to find forced female fisting, it was quite the treat. Since the story is about three days of dominance which will generate enough energy to break the Heketoro's curse and then some, I found the sex scenes to be the best parts of the story.
I do need to clear up a slight perception or misperception. This is not a BDSM story. This is a kinky story with light bondage. If the reader is expecting a BDSM themed story, this is not it. There are kinky scenes with a bit more than vanilla sex, but that in itself will not classify this story as BDSM. Heketoro doesn't dominate Danii and doesn't come across as a strong dominant. He is rather sweet and seems to be very mixed in what he wants from Danii. Danii is a submissive little thing, despite her job as a cop. While Danii frequently reminds the reader and herself that she's independent and a strong female, neither the reader nor Danii is convinced. I certainly was not convinced. I felt that Danii was weak and best served as a pet or plaything for Heketoro to keep. Frankly, I'm surprised Danii hasn't killed herself yet with her alcohol abuse.
Still, the world Ms. Silverwood built is interesting, despite the weak female lead. I'm more interested in the fae world and what will happen next. My sincere hope is for Danii to be turned into a sex slave to serve a strong mistress, if a follow up book is forthcoming. I say mistress only because the two fae females mentioned in the story were more dominant and stronger than Heketoro.
I recommend this story to those who like a bit of spice with their sex scenes. I also recommend it for those who like fae stories with a happily ever after.
Danii is a police officer. She is accustomed to taking care of herself. However, she has a weakness. She is deathly afraid of water. As a child, she fell into a lake and almost drown. When her dog becomes trapped on a small island in the center of a lake, she panics. A man shows up, apparently out of nowhere, and offers to save the dog if she will submit to Three Days of Dominance. Heketoro has a problem. He is a Fae cursed to live on earth, in a lake, for one hundred years. He must break the curse, or at the end of that time, he will die. In order to save himself, there is a ritual, but it requires a woman to completely submit to him. He believes that woman could be Danii. However, when his enemies, come after her to prevent him from succeeding, he has to hope that he can keep her safe.
I must say I enjoyed this book. The story is total fantasy, unless you truly believe in faeries and alternative worlds. A handsome, magical man taking sexual control over a strong, capable woman? If you're into that, as I am, this book is so there. In my opinion, the BDSM elements in this book are more on the light side. They are all focused on allowing the man to take control during sex. There is some bondage but that's about it for the physical aspects.
I felt there were some things that could have been fleshed out a bit more. There were a couple of references to Danii experiencing "visions", but nothing ever came of it and so it felt a bit disjointed. There are also references to her mother that weren't really explained very well. Am I being nitpicky? Well, yes, because there aren't really all that many downsides to the story.
This is a fun, fast, light read. There's a bit of heaviness at the end, and a couple of things got a bit confusing for me. However, I can't explain it without giving spoilers so you'll have to read it to find out if they are confusing for you. There were many things left open ended that I would love to have followed a bit further. (Nudge to Ms Silverwood, a follow up book perhaps??) Overall, if you want a pretty lightweight, fun BDSM read, this book should be on your list.
I won this book on the Erotic Enchants group here on Goodreads and this was my first "fae" read and I enjoyed the concept of a human woman and a Fae male.
The garden scene was breathtaking and the bridge scene was (whew) HOT!
There is a lot of room to have this book as the first of a series. I'd like to see where Heketoro & Danii go from here.
In this novel we meet Danii, a police officer, and Heketoro, a Fae. He is trapped on earth with his half-sister because of a curse from his people.
I was very curious about Heketoro I admit and overall I liked him as a character as well as Danii she was a strong woman, a good police officer and pretty okay with throwing herself head long into submitting to him for the allotted time he needed. Three day’s. In three days if he did not have the energy to break the curse he and his step-sister are to die. Fro what I understand this is kind of like prison, so many days banished to a certain place before eventually they are ‘executed’. I am curious as to how they would have died. By what means? Would they have just simply gone ‘poof’? Danii had the same question as well and the police officer in her would not, no could not allow anyone to die if she could help even if she had to submit to a man, almost a complete stranger really, totally and completely.
Danii doesn’t like it at first. Hmm, maybe it is more accurate to say that she finds it frightening that she does like it, but eventually admits not only to herself but to Heketoro as well that she does and is willing to submit to him so he can break the curse and open the portal to go home. Though her heart feels like it being ripped apart at the thought of him leaving.
We do meet his step sister Aura and lean first hand that she has gone quite mad. Still though even with the danger that the complication brings Heketoro can not do anything but hope that when he gets her home it may be reversible but cautions Danii not to let her or any strange female in her house as Danii refuses to let it stop her from helping. The only problem is that with the curse coming to its peak Danii is loosing her memories of Heketoro and her time with him while he is away from her and the pull of his prison is strengthening each day.
I liked this book overall, for a first book by an author it shows great potential of said author; potential that I know Cari Silverwood not only lives up to but maybe even exceeds with her next novel, Iron Dominance.
But I have to admit that I felt like a lot of things where left unanswered, I suppose this is great if there is a second book to follow? But if not then I feel like things were not completely resolved on all fronts of the plot.
But as above I did like the novel and look forward to reading more from Cari Silverwood; I would recommend this novel to anyone looking for a good light BDSM read.
*I received an Ebook copy of this book for free to review from the author.
Three Days of Dominance by Cari Silverwood Paranormal Romance- June 7th, 2011 3 ½ stars
Three Days of Dominance starts quickly with a very sexy bondage scene and teases the reader with the sexual build up between the two main characters.
Danii is a human with a bit of faerie blood. She has been having highly erotic dreams. And when a powerful water fae named Heketoro asks for a gift in exchange for rescuing a neighbor’s dog, she agrees. Little does Danii realize that she is agreeing to Three Days of Dominance, where Heketoro can do anything he wants and she must submit!
Heketoro has spied the lovely Danii for a long time and he wants her. He plans to use the sexual chemistry between them to help him return back to his own world. He was tricked by his mad sister and his actions resulted in the death of another faerie. He and his sister were cursed and sentenced to exile except for one chance to return. But to harness the energy he needs to return to home, he must perform a powerful sexual ritual, will Danii agree to his demands or will he be stuck on this world forever?
The first scene was very erotic but then the story slows down quite a bit as it introduces the characters and their back stories. Danii is heading toward being a drunk since her beloved brother died and Heketoro is searching to help his sister and find a way back home. I understood the author adding wanting to add more about each character but in Danii’s case, it made the story drag in sections. I found myself skipping to the areas of the book between Danii and Heketoro, especially anticipating their third day of dominance. The heroine was a bit bland and predictable. The author does a great job of stringing the reader along. However, I found the title misleading; those looking for a highly dominant hero will be disappointed. Heketoro is very sexy and the scenes between the two main characters were really well written and hot, but he is not an alpha male. The bondage is light and Danii doesn’t seem to truly submit. However, I liked how imaginative this story was and still found the scenes between them scorching hot.
This fantasy has a great premise. I loved Heketoro’s curse and the only way to break it was to use sexual energy. The scenes between the main characters were entertaining and sexy. But unfortunately, the other areas of the book dragged a bit and the story was not as erotic as I expected.

Circa March, 2012 I'd never read an erotica book/story/whatever - none. It's never been something I've found appealing, or even thought that I might. However, there's a romance story I've wanted to write for some time, so I figured I'd better learn how to write a decent sex scene. How do authors write them? What works? What do I find off-putting? What's smoking hot? To that end I bought Stacia Kane's marvellous 'Be a Sex-Writing Strumpet', and a dozen erotica books by various authors and got to reading (it's a tough life!). My expectations of written erotica were that they're the literary equivalent of cheap porno videos - made to get the viewer off but otherwise devoid of artistic merit.
There are not many things in this world that surprise me but, so help me, Cari Silverwood has managed it. This lady can write! The characters were reassuringly solid. The mythological elements were coherent and frankly showed more creativity than I've seen from most mainstream novels. The writing was fluid and well-paced, the descriptions evocative, and she has a lovely turn of phrase.
What I didn't like is that there were elements of the story that weren't followed up on, either oversights or intentional hooks for a sequel, I can't tell. The whole master/slave thing doesn't much appeal to me, either in reality or fiction, but thankfully this book never went towards any practices which I'd be loathed to even read about (for me, anything non-consensual, extremely violent, or humiliating is a show-stopper. There may be others but that's all that springs to mind).
The word count is around 56k - I knocked it over in an evening - and I found it particularly impressive given that it's Ms. Silverwood's first book. I look forward to her second book, 'Iron Dominance', which is also in my to-read pile.
Interesting story. I don't normally read much fantasy, not liking to have to acquaint myself with a whole new world but this wasn't a big stretch for the imagination and I liked that.
Danii is a cop who is used to being alone and taking care of herself until one day on a walk with her dog and the neighbors dog she meets a stranger who will change all that.
Heketoro (seriously, how do your pronounce this name? I started calling him BOB!)means fairy spirit and that is what he is, a Fairie, a Prince of the Underworld who has been cursed to live in a lake for the crime he has committed. To break this curse he needs the help of Danii and her promise of three days of dominance.
The book was not hard to follow, the lemons were plenty and pretty damn hot! Love what this hot fairie could do with foliage and flowers!
What bummed me out about the story would be the language of Heketoro. I guess I feel let down when a Prince of the Underworld uses common human speak, it is as if it cheapens his character. I do like how the author explains how he knows the language though having watched humans for 100 years, it would be similar to picking up a accent.
What was never explained, or I flat out missed it, was what was the point or Emana kidnapping Danii and why wasn't she able to remember it like everything else. This seemed to be pretty damn important, important enough to add it to the story, but nothing was ever said after she returned.
Three Days of Dominance was an good short read. Not something I would read again, but another fantasy book that I was able to handle.
It’s no secret that Cari Silverwood is one of my favourite writers of all time. So when I brought Three Days of Dominance I knew I was about to read a book that was rich in emotion, with well developed characters, a storyline that is rich in twists and turns as well as scorching hot sex scenes. And as usual I wasn’t disappointed. This books mixes with the paranormal/mystical with our world. Heketoro is an alpha Fae while Danii is a strong willed human. The best thing in this book is the storyline and the sexual tension between the two as well as the originality of the story, Heketoro can only break his curse by using sexual energy, genius! This book is for anyone who loves books with kink but now that I’ve finished it I would love there to be more. So get your finger out Ms Silverwood and write a follow up book.
I really wanted to like this book but I just didn't feel the love. It has moments of "Wow" and then some yawns when it had me skipping pages of Dani's endless internal debate.
I love the concept of the story but it just seemed to get kind of lost along the way. Heketoro kept hammering home how she would have to obey but then the actual scene where she would have to obey him or suffer the consequences just sort of fizzled.
By the title I guess I was hoping for more from the dominance angle and definitely more hot sex like the garden scene. :-)
Still. I liked the story well enough and I am always glad for an ending that is happy.
2 1/2. Average. It is like many of this same template: fae needs human's help to return to their own world. Nothing really stands out or is really bad. The title and summary makes it seem much more BDSM than it is. In fact, I would call it just borderline BDSM and nothing extreme. Everything is consensual.
I wish there was more information about the main characters previous interactions and why he picked her from a relatively young age. If it is a bloodline thing why not try on her mother?
Lovely writing!!! In erotica I find a good story is often sacrificed on the altar of sex. Cari doesn't do this, the story is solid, enjoyable and enhances the sizzlin' sex. The hero is alpha without being obnoxoius and the heroine is strong, flawed and spitfire without being grating. Thank you Cari for appealing to the mind not just the hormones!!
Excellent work, I loved it! I can hardly wait for more.... a totally sexy, hot read. The characters and flow of this story kept you glued to it....sticky in a very nice way! I highly recommend this read it will not leave you wanting except for more please! joanne, Tx.
I wasn’t sure about this book when I started reading but it dragged me in and kept me going till the end. Danii and Heketore were both.strong characters that pushed and pulled each other to the end. A different story to what I expected but definitely one I recommend.
I really liked this book. It had been a while since I had read a PNR and this one was great. Cari did an excellent job making the characters seem real. I would definitely read more of her books.
I really liked this book.. but there were some things about it that I didn't like... I didn't like how Dani was so confused about everything all the time.. But it was also apparently apart of the curse so it kind of makes sense but it was just annoying when she just kept going around and around with the same arguments with herself about what was going on with Heketoro.
I also don't like the fact that some of the questions I had about this story remained unanswered. I wanted to know if she ever remembered what happened with Emana Tatu? If she remembered that she needed to warn Heketoro about her? So many questions about that remain unanswered...
I hope there will be another book about this story that will answer those questions. And also give us a look into what her life will be like when she gets to this new world. So many questions remain and I hope we will get the answers to them.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, but I enjoyed it overall. It’s a shame there isn’t a sequel because the fae world sounds delicious. Do check the author’s website for all triggers, but a few include dub con, bdsm, and submission.
To what length would you go if your brother was being held prisoner? Exactly! Sarah is prepared to do everything in her power to free her beloved Con. She needs to win the trust of Commander Kai Trinder by any means necessary. Kai has adapted to the world he lives in. As the Commander of his settlement he’s able to approve or deny women’s petitions to become part of his household. He can do whatever he pleases with them. In turn he offers his protection. The second he lays eyes on Sarah he’s bewitched. Kai simply cannot get enough of her, even though he knows she’s hiding something. His heart has been broken once before, and he still isn’t over the betrayal.
Hot! Boy, oh boy! I’m still fanning myself and start drooling every time I think back to the sex scenes. They were sooooo hot. Great job, Ms. Hunter! I should add a warning. Danger of spontaneous combustion! Keep a fire extinguisher nearby. I like my smut explicit and kinky, so I got my money’s worth - big time. For me, it’s not just about how the scenes are written, but also whether or not the author adds some variety. Some of you might find bondage, a bit of domination, and other sexual content not enjoyable. If that’s the case, better stay away from Beyond the Shadows. My advice would be to read the book in bed, or curled up on the couch. Had I chosen a public place people would’ve wondered about my crimson complexion and the frequent wiggling of my eyebrows. There was some serious chemistry between the characters. I’m a chemistry-junky! Quick! It’s a short read with just over 150 pages. The good thing about it was that I was able to get a quick fix. Sometimes I’m in the mood to take a break from whatever I’m doing and get some reading in. It truly was the perfect book to do so. However, its shortness had a downside. I’d call the setting an alternate universe. I’ve read reviews labeling it a sci-fi romance. The plot was awesome! Such a great idea to divide the world into settlements that were commandeered by high ranking individuals. What’s wrong with an interesting plot? I thought it had a lot of potential and could’ve been made into a 300+ pages Erotica novel. I saw many possibilities to take it several steps further, and was kind of bummed to have it end so soon. It doesn’t appear to be the first in a series either. Satisfying! I loved both Sarah and Kai. Sarah for having the courage to try and save her brother, and Kai for being the ultimate Alpha! He oozed control in all aspects of his personality, except for when with Sarah. His emotions developed a life of their own at the mere though of her. I pictured this gorgeous man letting loose, claiming the woman as his. Yes, please! I wasn’t disappointed, for it was exactly what happened. Sexaaay! Kai was set in his ways. Therefore it really was not surprising to have his dominant side take over in the bedroom. Yes, he was rough at times, but never once did I feel like he was forcing himself on her. Some authors walk too fine a line in terms of dangling their feet in the reluctance pool. Cassidy has her craft down pat. Kai had a lot of responsibility to deal with. The people in his settlement all depended on him. I sometimes felt like love was something he didn’t want to permit himself. Maybe it was the anger about his own stubbornness that gave the sex such an edge. Not saying it deflated once he was brave enough to admit he loved her! Sarah had her priorities. She never gave up on her plan to get her brother out of Kai’s prison. Not even when she admitted he was the one for her. I also knew Kai would be beyond livid about it. Good! If she’d decided to choose a man over the freedom of her flesh and blood I would've lost all respect for her.. Was it insta-love? Partly. Did I have a problem with it? Partly. I had to take the genre into consideration, though. Erotica! It’s just that I would’ve loved to read more about the two of them. Especially about Sarah’s past (as a rape victim) and Con’s future. Those two elements of the story I saw as a door-opener to add a hundred or so more pages. As it was, a few questions were left unanswered....or maybe just open to imagination?! Had a fun time reading. A keeper! 3.5 stars to Beyond the Shadows by Cassidy Hunter.
Beware of Spoilers! Two of my favorite quotes for those of you who are interested: ° “He wished he didn’t give quite so big a damn.” ° “I need you to accept how I feel about you. - Damn! I must be killer in bed.“
Sarah was a fabulous heroine. From the second I met her, I respected her decisions. She enticed Kai, got him into bed with her, and then started to fall in love with him. I didn’t blame her, the man was alpha possessive to the core and, having been screwed royally since she was little, and needed someone to feel safe with. When Con (her brother) recounted her history to Kai, I honestly felt a little teary; the woman had been treated terribly. She tried so hard to think of Kai as the enemy, tried to hate him, but in the end, her heart had the final say. However, she knew that she would always pick her brother over Kai. She knew she had to ignore her own feelings and try any tactic possible to rescue Con. I loved her determination, grit and selflessness. Kia was just...*sigh* :D He is famed for his self-control, but from the second that Sarah show’s up, his self-restraint is pushed to the limit. When he finally stops fighting his heart and turn’s up in her room, I melted. Seriously, the man is dreamy, taking what he wanted whilst making sure she was completely satisfied. He hate’s himself for looking as an object of desire, and not as someone he needs to protect, but he cannot resist taking her. Still, he doesn’t completely trust her, having been betrayed previously by someone he let close, and pays close attention to her actions and questions some of her more dubious excuses for her movements. He isn’t a man that loses his edge with love, he treats it himself as a man and a ruler separately, and the love for her belongs to the man, so the ruler still has to protect his settlement from her. The sex scenes between the two characters are spectacular. There is only M/F sex featured, but it does border mildly on the kinky with a mild bit of anal play and some control/Domination. With every sex scene, you can see Kai and Sarah falling for each other a little more. The author does a fabulous job of creating scenes that suck you in emotionally, and it just makes them more erotic. In a way it was heart-breaking, as at no point did I believe that Sarah wouldn’t chose Con over Kai therefore, each time they had sex, it took them one step closer to complete heart-break.
A fabulous sci-fi/fantasy romance with engaging, tortured characters that I willed to find happiness, even if I couldn’t figure out exactly how that could happen! The story wasn’t predictable, the sex was incredibly erotic and the plot was fast paced and interesting...It’s one I’ll keep and read over and over again! This story had everything I could have asked for and more and I’ll go out of my way to buy anymore that the author wants to write in this interesting world.
What would you do to save your last remaining family member? Sarah will do anything to save her brother, Constantine, even sell her body to the devilish handsome enemy. Kai imprisoned Constantine for an unforgivable crime. He's also been burned by women he's loved. Sarah draws him in; he unwillingly brings her into the settlement he owns. His land is one of the best and safest. In order to keep it this way, Kai needs to bring in the right people who can contribute. Those who trespass, he has to send a clear and strict message. Sometimes, this means death. Why should he buy Sarah when he already possesses a harem full of women?
Sarah has been abused for a while through daily rapes. She begs her brother for help, which is why they are in this mess. Now that she's escaped her rapist, she needs to free her brother from Kai. Her plan is to seduce Kai, free her brother and then flee, but the plan backfires. Yes, as the reader can guess, Sarah falls for Kai. When the betrayal comes to light, Sarah is imprisoned and then punished.
While Sarah could come off as some victimized weakling, she does not. For this, I'm very happy. She's a heroine who has made the best of her situation and hasn't given up the fight. Sure, her "conspiracy" to free her brother isn't the brightest or most complex, but she tried. Kai seems to be the man where the entire world rests upon his shoulder. He has many responsibilities. I understand his desire to find the one person who he can enjoy with and be himself. This is why I felt badly for him when he is betrayed. I do like his dominating personality -- quite the turn on.
One could say this means the book is BDSM because there is bondage and rough sex. I say, it's still just kinky sex with a bit of spice. One of my favourite new terms is SugarKink. This kinky sex by Ms. Hunter is very sweet and HOT! The sexual tension between Sarah and Kai caused me to eye my spouse like a juicy piece of meat. This story is well written with good conflict and resolution. I didn't fully understand the entire world, but I believe this is a book in a series. I would expect each book to reveal more about this world and explain why there are lands in the "shadows".
This book moved at a nice pace with every scene meaningful. I was engaged the entire time and when I was done, I wanted more. I hope her second book covers Constantine. I want to learn more about him. I recommend this book who like star-crossed lovers who end in a happily ever after.
This is a book set in a time after the world war known as the Flash War. I loved the way the author envisioned the life after another world war. It is a fascinating look at what would be important after something like that. It has a gritty, dark feel, with good and evil clearly defined. But there is still room for grey, and that's what makes this a very good read. Sarah is on a mission. The settlement she came from is run by an evil man named Sampson. His promise to her and her brother was if you kill Kai, the leader from a nearby settlement, you can be free. She had been severely abused by him after her parents died, and her brother Con had to try and protect her. Con never came back for her because he was not a killer, and Kai had thrown him in jail for the attempt. Women were commodities to be bought and owned. Kai took in all he could because he knew what the alternative would be and he had to save them. He had taken over for his father after the man passed, and he was one of the wealthiest in the area. He has a huge compound, and the people he buys work on the land or in the buildings. When he checks out the ladies up for protection, he is instantly drawn to Sarah. He buys her and owns her now, and she comes to live in his house. Her only goal is to free her brother, and she does not care what she has to do, or who gets hurt, in the process. But she never figured she would develop feelings for the man who held her brother. And her brother has secrets of his own. Can she betray Kai and free Con? What secrets is Con hiding? Will Kai ever trust her? Will her heart start making decisions for her? How far do you go for family? This is a really great read, and the characters, storylines, and the setting, are so interesting that I could not stop turning the page. I love a great read, especially when it deals in the greys of the world. Check it out if you love a great love story.
I didn't really like it, after reading only good reviews I was hoping for more. This book is about 3 characters, Danni, Hekatoro and Killer. I am not a dog person and I got so annoyed by the dog. Inbetween I had the feeling, that we know more about Killers actions than about Hekatoro in total. I know alot of authors have a little zoo at home, but none till now forced their love for the pet into a book.
And I really want to throw a book if I have to read pages of thoughts of the same thing over and over again. I can undertsand that some decisions are hard, but in this kind of books, the eternal unquestioning love always wins, so why to bother to think and think and think some more? Unquestioning love is another point, I can understand that Hekatoro, as a stalker, thinks he loves her. But why is Danii in love after a few orgasms? Orgasm another topic, I am just jealous, but instant orgasmns? Alot of them? I liked her instant obedience, no long fighting her nature. But I have the feeling, she is a sub who will top from the bottom alot. And Hekatoro strikes me as a dom who lets her do that. And the D/S part in this book was mainly some tinny orders and a few fluffy feelings. I am missing something. It felt abit like Danii is getting tied down, getting a few orgamns and done. And I don't like her, she's abit selfish in a weird way. What was the whole thing with Hekatoro saying he MUST go because her house is weakining him. And she asks him to stay? Her current pain was sad, but he was actually getting weeker. Dead people stay dead, she could have waited in my opinion.
And plot, why did we meet Tatu? Ok if there will be a sequel, but for a so long sequence in the book it was quiet unimportant and I was waiting for something to happen.
What would you do for family? Would you give up your life? This is a story of what you will do for love....
Sarah has finally escaped one crazed men only to throw herself into the arms of another to save her bother (Con). Kai is her only hope and her main enemy for imprisoning her brother. Sarah will do anything to get Kai in her bed and gain his trust so that she might free her brother. Only problem with this plan ... she is falling for the man she should hate. Kai is a strong alpha male who is charge of a large settlement and he is not looking for a distraction, but there is something about Sarah that he can't resist -even when he tries. Things take a twist when Kai realizes that Sarah has betrayed him for another. This betrayal cuts Kai deep and old issues arise for him. Kai can be a harsh man when wronged,Sarah finds out this out quickly. Sarah is now determinded to do what ever she can to prove to Kai she truly can be trusted. Kai is so confused, how can he feel for someone who has betrayed him, but when Sarah disappears he realizes ... he must find her! This was a great read! Cassidy Hunter has such great way with words, her imagery really makes you hear, feel, and smell everything. Great tortured characters, amazing sexy (anal play, mild bondage, M/F), and a well paced story line. I really hope that Ms. Cassidy has more in store for us with this world, maybe a series? If so, I will definitely be buying it.
Favorite Quote: With one last lick, he pulled his mouth from her breast. "Not until you're screaming beneath me, your desire so strong you think you might die from it. Because that's the way you make me feel every time I'm near you" He didn't sound as if that fact made him happy.
You know me, I live for a great erotica read, and I'm not saying Three Days of Dominance isn't one of them. I just couldn't get into it.
For me, a female cop getting into a BDSM relationship as a sub raises a few flags. To me, there just isn't that damsel-in-distress factor going, or that soft femininity image I have going on. To me, a female cop should be rough and tough and able to hang with her male counterparts in a very competitive and hazardous job. So it's a stretch for me to see her as a sub, though, I could get into it if there were certain circumstances.
However those circumstances don't appear in Three Days of Dominance - what we have is a dog stranded on some sort of water surrounded area? And a fey prince just happens to appear and offer his help to rescue the dog, because the poor helpless policewoman just couldn't figure out how to rescue it. In return, he asks her to obey him for three days.
Sure she's busy trying to solve a burglary case, but let's not really think about what a life threatening situation dealing with criminals might be, instead let's space out in front of criminals, allow them to run away because we're lost in thought as our girlie parts throb and ache for someone we just met.
Ugh. Just couldn't get into this story after that. Don't get me wrong, Cari Silverwood is a great author and I've enjoyed her other stories. Three Days of Dominance just isn't one of them.
*** 3.5 Starts*** Three Days Dominance is an older story of Cari Silverwood’s I just happened on. Cari’s stories always transports you out of your norm, that’s what I love about her writing. I start reading and I’m there walking with the characters.
A sexy water fae is trapped in the mortal realm, he was a bit naughty early in his life. So now he really has to work his magic and get this mortal female to break his curse. The thing is he’s on a short amount of time to do it, if he fails it will mean not only his life but his sisters.
A female cop already has to work hard, just extra hard cuz she is a female. With no social life to speak of its easy to fade off in ones dreams. See dreams no one looks shocked, no one judges, the dreams can be as hot as you want, Dani’s dreams are very hot and bit kinky. Heketoro lol his name had me stumbling just a bit, but loved the rarity of it. He is a bit mysterious even shady comes to mind. (smile) One hand knows he should come clean, the other not so much for his and his siblings life counts on him getting the human to break the curse.
You have magic, you have male, you have female sad and determined, excited and charmed. Controlled and yet not. A pretty cool read and enjoyable characters. See for yourself Enjoy.
Beyond the Shadows by Cassidy Hunter was a fantastic read. It’s apparent in the beginning that Sarah isn’t a follower and has an agenda of her own. I was sad to read of her treatment by her previous keeper, but think being there added great strength to her character.
Kai’s over the top personality took some getting used to. Once the layers were peeled a bit to see what had a hand in making him a standoffish personality, I could relate to him. While I didn’t exactly love him in the beginning, there’s no denying that I loved the savage bedroom side of him. Seeing them both attain emotional growth along with their physical and work through betrayal and forgiveness made for a great read on a lazy Sunday.
This is a different twist in paranormal and I quite enjoyed it. Danii is a complex character and she battles an inner conflict almost the whole time. She is also a police officer, very strong and dominant in her world. Heketoro is Dominant, not only in his world, but hers too. Her desire and need to submit to him shocks her, of course, but she gives in to what her body craves. What makes it even more interesting is, over the course of the 3 days she spends with Heketoro, her mind becomes deeply affected. Near the end, I was on the edge of my seat.
This was an easy smooth read. The sex scenes were hot and the story flowed well. I also want to know what happens next. =)
Not really sure about this one, although I did like the way Heketoro took charge of Danii. :)
No explanation of why Heketoro was expelled from Faerie; no reason why his half-sister Aroha was earthbound also; no reason why Justice Emana Tatu interfered (the consequences of which I would REALLY like to know) - so lots of unanswered questions.
Not really a HFN, since we don't know what happens when Danii goes to 'another' world - so I suppose a sequel is a necessity !!
