After a few months as a vampire, Alyssa thought she'd learned all she needed to know about the supernatural world. But her confidence is shattered by the delivery of a mysterious package - a Pandora's Box.
Seemingly innocuous, the box is in reality an ancient prison, generated by a magic more powerful than anyone in her clan has ever known.
But what manner of evil could need such force to contain it? When the box is opened, the sinister creature within is released, and only supernatural blood will satiate its thirst. The clan soon learns how it feels when the hunter becomes the hunted.
Powerless against the ancient evil, the clan flees Las Vegas for Boston, with only a slim hope for salvation. Could Lysander's old journals hold the key? And what if they don't? And how welcome will they be in a city run by a whole different kind of supernatural being? Werewolves...

Question: If you receive a box arriving at your house with a beautiful engraving but has no return address or knowledge of who dropped it off, would you open it? Not knowing what's inside. I know I would because I'm just nosey like that. So if it's a Pandora's Box, whether what's inside is good or bad. I'm getting it. Because my curiosity will almost always get the best of me.
Basically that's what happens here. The temptation and spell coming from Pandora's Box was unavoidable. There was no way that a human like Fallon could resist temptation and opened the box. But what's in the box is something that is completely unexplained. What was inside was pure evil. Evil enough to destroy anyone or anything.
While looking for knowledge on how to fight this energy that was released when Pandora's Box was open, Alyssa and her family (clan) became friends with another clan. A werewolf clan. And together they used their knowledge and supernatural powers against this evil energy. Their unity showed that all supernatural members can stand under one roof and fight together rather than each other. But what sacrifice will they have to make, to put an end to all the madness?
Katie never fails to captivate me with her work. This book is it's 3rd in series and the series just keeps getting better. Pandora's Box was full of action. But what I liked best is how everyone came together to fight against evil. Though I'm not a fan of how it ended, I know that I can expect another great book in this series. So kudos to Katie for another well written book. 4/5 Stars for Pandora's Box. Another Good Choice for Reading for Katie Salidas.
Oh my, just when I think Katie surely could not come up with something more original or as entertaining or creative as her previous works, Pandora's Box comes out! This book have me from the first page to the last one and I am going to try patiently to wait for the next one because where Pandora's Box left off, it gave me mixed emotions.
You will find in Pandora's Box, everything needed to satisfy all those emotions and expectations you want in a great book. If you have not read the previous books in Katie's Immortalis series, you need to get out there and get 1# Immortalis Carpe Noctem, 2# Hunter's Prey, and now #3 Pandora's Box. Fallon I am very pleased finds love in this book, and as a mortal, I was taken aback but pleased at her choice. It will definately make for a very interesting twist to the series. I feel Katie was brilliant in her choice of the type of life Fallon would now take on. It was love at first sight and it flowed so nicely into the story, it seemed natural.
Alyssa and Lysander will be crossing a lot of emotional bridges that could end in tragedy or a more passionate love than ever before. This part of the story tugged at my heart and I could feel what the characters were going through. I love a book to leave me wanting more, and this one sure did. Even after reading it, I found myself sitting and thinking about how many twists and turns the story could take from that point.
Nicholas plays a large part in Pandora's box as well and he has experienced a terrible tragedy and heartbreak. My heart went out to him throughout the story, but when it came down to the wire, he stood up to the plate and did what had to be done. I hope Katie allows him to be happy again. I loved Pandora's Box and Katie's very creative and brilliant imagination. She has yet to disappoint my expectations for a great addition to this series. I would recommend not on Pandora's Box, but the entire Immortalis series to the most faithful vampire lover.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
I am a big fan of this author's work, especially the previous two books in this series! I adore how she writes her books, although we are reading a world full of fantasy but there are realistic aspects in this book and written together the way they are makes the tale seem so real to us readers.
I am still reeling at the last few chapters of this book, what is in these chapters took me completely by surprise, trust me you will never see it coming! This story and the whole series to be honest is highly addictive and once you start the book you really can't put it down until you have finished it but once you do it leaves you Craving for the next book and I can say that I cannot wait together my hands on the next book in this series! This is such a thrilling and exciting story, you really don't know what will happen Next and the surprises catch you off guard, you pair this with the excellent talent of this author and you have one masterpiece of a book!
I love the characters from the previous books but I also love the new additions of other characters from the Supernatural world, you see things from a different perspective from different races. I love how Alyssa has grown and evolved since we first met her, her inner strength just grows and grows making her blossom and I love that she is determined to keep ties with her human best friend and protective of her. I really took to Nicholas in this book and saw a really different side to him in this book, a more human side that really opens us up to who he is inside!
This is a big that I cannot recommend highly enough!!! It is a compelling, amazing and addictive book that worms its way into your heart! A book that readers must get!!!
I cannot wait for the next book in this series. What a cliff hanger. Katie is on my top list of authors. I read the 3 of these books within one month.....and I am craving for more...You are right there with Chris Pike, Stephen King,P.C. Cast ...I have been spreading the word to all my friends and family to try new authors.I know I am happy I did.. You kept me very busy for this month of July now here I am hunting somemore, As usual it seems as though I am always waiting for the next book to come out. Katie I was so impressed from the first book Carpe Noctem (Immortalis Series) to the second, Hunters Prey and then to read how much your writing kept improving and the story line was everything anyone could ask for in urban fantasy, to vampire and it just went on and on. You are so talented, Please please let us know when the fourth book is coming out. These 3 books just puts one in another world what a great escape.
Can't wait to begin this. Admittedly, got sidetracked with THE HUNT and THE WHISPER JAR, but I just did not find them to be as engaging as I thought. have put those aside and now am back to Pandora's Box.
I must say this is quickly becoming my favorite of the three I've read so far. Pandora's Box, Ghosts, Werewolves...this is all turning out to be very interesting and spooky! Now we have witches too and this is interesting. Fallon falling for the WERE Aidan is a good twist...and the ending OMG! Book four will be good...
it was sooo good one of the best books i have read in a while very interesting now i have to read the first two books and i dont ever read books out of order but the descrpition on the back made me want to read it and i was hooked on the first chapter i couldnt put it down two thumbs up good work katie salidas (author) cant wait to see if there will be a next book in the immortalis series :)
This is my favourite instalment of the series yet! I loved the book all the way through. This one I could barely put down!
***************SPOILER ALERT************
Everyone knows what a pandoras box is, but we aren't clued in to what THIS pandoras box contains until much later in the book.
I have to admit to a few tears to seeing the most pacifist vamp Rozaline being so easily killed at the beginning. That I didn't see coming.
This thing from the box keeps saying the same thing "I want my blood back". The vampires can only assume it's one of them and they quickly leave the house before it can do any more damage to the clan.
Leaving the box at the house, with the belief the thing is attached to it, the only thing they can think to do is go to Boston where Lysander's memoirs and written histories are kept.
But you know it's not going to be smooth. Someone has already been there and left a mess for them.....leading the local pack of werewolves to assume THEY were responsible....
So, they have to find what is in the Box, and fast - the longer they leave it the more of a threat it can be, they need to try to make allies with the werewolves at the same time.....oh..and find a way to put whatever it is back in the box. And a blast from the past makes an entrance...but can he be trusted?
Another week in the life of Alyssa....
.....with some added extra personal heartbreak and trouble that was not expected. And a future that hangs in the balance.
This one is much more continuously paced. The pages beg to be kept turning and you can't resist. It was a shock when the book ended! And I flew onto book 4!
There isn't as much romance in this one, but it's understandable. Fallon is our one positive key figure in that department whereas the others are on a slippery downwards slope by the end of this book.
With this book being so good to read it's left me with high expectations for the next one!! I hope it doesn't let me down!!
The story goes on, and the drama escalates with every book. Now that Fallon has settled down as a regular part of the Peregrinus clan, she brought a fresh wind into the situation. But her human curiosity together with Alyssa's lack of information about many aspects of the supernatural world are a certain way to attract trouble. To prove the point, they open a Pandora's box without being aware of the consequences, and those are deadly, unleashing an ancient evil creature into the world. Following the clues to set a new trap of the murderous spirit, the clan travels to Boston and joins their forces with local wolf pack - but there are still harms done that are questionable to reverse.. Amazing read, packed with action, adventure, lots of drama and raw emotions drawn to the surface. If you ever felt a tiny bit of sympathy towards the clan members, your heart will definitely bleed and ache until the book is over, and beyond. Joyful and positive emotions, enjoying the life and romantic issues are pushed a bit into the backgroung by the threat, tension, and grief from the loss. Very emotional, yet naturally flowing forward at high speed, developing the characters along the plot development. I can't wait to continue reading this series.
This story was a good one. Good pacing, action and the characters were quite good. The only thing I would have liked to see was more romantic development but for this single element I would recommend it highly. It was a good storyline but it could have been excellent.
Alyssa didn't annoy me anymore! She is definitely a more conscious character in this book then she has been in the past 2 books! I like that she is more aware of the consequences her actions have, and tries to make an effort to think things through. I'm one of those readers that needs to be able to root for the main character and feel a connection with them, and in this book I felt like I could root for Alyssa more than I could in the past. I also really liked that there weren't as many feeding scenes, and I felt this book flowed the best out of the 3 I've read so far. I enjoyed the addition of werewolves in this book, and we also get a bit of some witchcraft, which was a nice element to the story. As the title suggests, this book's main storyline focuses on a Pandora's box, a mysterious package is delivered to Lysander's house, and when it is opened it unleashes a deadly entity. So, Alyssa, Lysander, Nicholas, and Fallon head to Boston to find out a way to return the entity to the box before it causes anymore problems. Along the way, the group meets some werewolves and some other vampires, so the group needs to negotiate the situation carefully with both groups. It was nice to have a change of setting, and to get to know some new characters. I love shifters, so I really loved getting to see some werewolves! I would have liked a bit more romance between Alyssa and Lysander because it would have been nice to see some more growth and closeness in their relationship. I'm definitely excited to read the next book in this series because this one left us with a mystery to be solved, and I'm excited to see where the story is going to go!
I am going to review this as a series instead of three separate books. Sometimes a vampire book can seem the same after reading so many, and lately I have had the pleasure of reading some wonderful vampire stories that have put an original twist to them. As with this series I am happy to say this series has that something different that I am always looking for in a great book.
Alyssa did not want to turn vampire, but, Lysander, a loner vamp turns Alyssa into a vampire in order to say her life, she was being attacked by a couple of guys who were trying to rape and kill her. Lysander turned Alyssa instead of letting her die. The first book in the series is mainly focused on Alyssa and her coming to terms with this life altering change to from human to vampire, she has an extremely hard time dealing with this and also with the fact they must drink straight from humans in order to stay alive, no animals or bag blood. Now she's whiny about the whole situation, but, you would be too if you were turned into a vampire against your will, and if you want an action packed book, this is the one to read. So book #1 off to a great start and on to book #2.
At the start of book 2 Alyssa is still having somewhat of a hard time with her change, but I think what impressed me most of all with this author, who by the way is a new author for me, is her writing style, at the start of book 2 Katie Salidas is able to recap book 1 so that you understand book 2 without confusing you totally, and with saying that if you hadn't started with the first book you can easily start reading the second book and understand it with no problems which I might add is a hard thing to do, bravo Ms. Salidas, I really like that in an author that impresses me a lot.
After having recurring nightmares about Santino, a evil vampire hunter. Lysander is adamant that he is not alive and hunting them, Alyssa knows he is, so when she comes face to face with him, Alyssa runs back to the only place that made her feel safe.....her old hang out when she was a mortal and runs into her best friend she had to leave behind when she was turned.....Fallon. So I really don't want to give away everything, we all know I hate spoilers but I will tell you a few things to keep you in suspense lol, Fallon gets kidnapped to try and have Alyssa fall right into Santino's trap he's set for her, and soon enough Alyssa figures out that worse things lay ahead, worse than Santino. I love this line from the book, "The enemy of your enemy is your friend.....Right?" Santino What a perfect line. Again another action packed book of this series, starts out great, love all the characters and I loved that Lysander and Alyssa's relationship has vamp up (no pun intended) lol you can just feel his love for her, and I love the addition of Fallon and Nicholas characters, no spoilers you gotta read it to . So book 2 awesome and now on the book #3.
The third book in this series was nothing short of amazing, such originality, more than the first and second , she has introduced more new characters, werewolves....Aiden to be specific *sigh* that's one hot werewolf. All three books are packed with action, wonderful characters, a fantastic plot and story line, and takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride which leaves you wanting more. If you haven't read any of these books yet I suggest you go right now and grab your copies of this awesome series. You will not be disappointed you did, and hang on to your seat for a great ride. I hope you all enjoy this series as much as I did!!! Enjoy!!!!!!
Let me start off by saying that I love watching a writer grow through a series, that is exactly what Katie has done. Pandora’s Box is a great story. Katie defiantly sets the bar a little higher every time she writes. The story kicks off right away with the appearance of a mysterious package and things quickly spiral down hill. The only hope of survival in Boston the clan hits the road.
It’s really nice to see the story branch out and reveal more of the world Katie has brought us to. I was a little worried that we haven’t really seen any other supernatural aspects so far, but I didn’t have to worry at all. We finally get to meet some werewolves! The fact that some new characters are completely outside Lysander’s control just makes it that much funnier. Even though we get to meet all these new faces we do lose someone right out of the gate, and it doesn’t slow down after that. The continuing character development is just so refreshing. Katie really knows how to use a tragedy to open up her characters.
Boston gives us some really interesting new faces that I can’t wait to get to know better. You all know how I feel about Fallon, but in this book she actually starts to prove herself to be at least slightly useful. Up until now Fallon has kind of been one of those people that just takes up space. I understand that she was somewhat useful in driving the plot in the last book, but I also think she totally caused the problem. Finally though she is showing herself to be a little bit more dimensional. Not a lot more, but I hold out hope for the next book. It’s nice to see how the dynamics change when Lysander isn’t in charge. Watching Alyssa learn even more about the vampire history and politics is fun, it’s also told really well so that the reader doesn’t feel like this is just an info dump.
The action scenes are just what I have come to expect from Katie, fast paced and exciting. I haven’t seen her fall into the trap some writers do when writing action when it isn’t the entire focus of the book. She really keeps a nice balance of detail but not boring, and she keeps it fast but not rushed. The twists and turns kept me on my toes till the last minute. Just when I thought everything was settled down, BAM, we get a punch in the face with the set up with for the next book.
Bottom-line, this is a great stop in the series. We are starting to see Alyssa really grow, as well as Katie. She is really keeping the series moving. I can’t wait to read the next one. f you haven’t picked up Pandora’s Box yet you better get moving. Happy Reading! ~NotteAurora
It is time for the third book in the series..Pandora's Box. In this installment in the series, Alyssa's friend, Fallon, open's a mysterious package that has been delivered to Lysander's home. In this package lies a creature determined to destroy all vampires. The creature starts attacking the vampires demanding they return it's blood. When a clan member is killed, it forces Lysander to admit he needs to return to Boston to retrieve his original writings and see if there is anything listed about this Pandora's Box they have been sent.
I really enjoyed the story with the Boston vampires. Instead of being lone vampires, we find more of a coven community that act more like humans than vampires. They are willing to live amongst them and try to fit in. For Alyssa, this was key. She saw that it was possible to have some semblance to her old life no matter how Lysander chose to live.
We also got to see some witches and werewolves in this book. They live in the community in Boston. The thing I found interesting was that the werewolves are pretty much in charge. They work with the other supernaturals (including vampires). I found this interesting because as much as I love werewolves, vampires have always come off to me as the higher race of supernaturals. Whether or not that is an author's preference or not, I am not sure. I guess I would see it the other way around. The werewolves re unwilling to help at first, but eventually come around. The story with the werewolves can build and I hope to see them in the future books.
Ahhhhh...and of course...we have to have the bad guy!!! This time, it isn't Lysander's maker. Oh no! Instead, her King, Edmond, is here dead set on revenge against Lysander. His reasoning to end Lysander is simple; she loved him more. Nothing worse then a jilted lover dead set on revenge. I don't know that I like the idea, but it worked for this book.
I hope you are ready. This book was fantastic. I loved the introduction of the new characters and how they played a part in this crazy world. Again, the bad guy could have had a better reason, but it's ok. I can live with it. Otherwise, this book was great. What got me the most...the cliffhanger!! I always love a good cliffhanger. I am so dying to start the next book. Katie, you have done it again. This book is a fantabulous addition to the series. ♥♥♥♥ out of 5 ♥.
This series has gotten better with each book. You love the characters and the storyline with each one.
In this third installment, a mysterious package has been delivered to Lysander's home and calls to Fallon to open it. When she does, she releases something that starts attacking the vampires demanding they return it's blood. When a clan member is killed, it forces Lysander to admit he needs to return to Boston to retrieve his original writings and see if there is anything listed about this Pandora's Box they have been sent.
The Boston vampires were an interesting mix. Instead of being the lone vampires that Alyssa has known in Las Vegas, we find a group of individuals that interact the same way humans would interact with each other. They were more willing to "live amongst the humans" and try to fit in, rather than hide away in a house and hope no one will see them. It was good for Alyssa to see that she could have some semblance of her old life back, despite how Lysander has chosen to live.
We also were introduced to the werewolves and witches of the supernatural community in Boston. The werewolves run the show, but work in conjunction with the other supernaturals (including vampires). While they appeared at first unwilling to help Lysander and Alyssa with their problem, Conner the Pack Alpha, decides to impart his knowledge and help our band of Vegas vampires. The werewolves were an interesting addition to the series and I hope we see more of them in the future.
Lysander's maker, while killed in book one, is still wrecking havoc in their lives. This time it's her jilted King, Edmond, dead set on revenge. His revenge is a good one, but his reasoning behind it were incredibly juvenile. I would hope that once one reaches a couple hundred years old the "because she loved you more" defense would disappear. Oh well.
If there was one thing I didn't like about the book, it was the cliffhanger of an ending. I'm not going to say anything here, since I don't want to spoil it for anyone else, but let's just say I an now desperate to have the next book in the series (and sadly don't see anything listed on Katie's web site...booooo!).
I started reading this series a little backwards. I actually read the novella Moonlight first and absolutely loved Fallons story. That book introduced me to several of the characters in the Immortalis series but after reading the first book in this series I was left with some questions as to why other members of the Clan weren't around later. Then I saw a comment on the authors facebook page about a WIP and I had a mini fit. Something awful happens between book 2 and the novella and I almost didn't want to read about it. I mean the unintentional spoiler wasnt really a spoiler it was something I had already guessed at but now I KNEW, so I've put off reading this book for a few days now. But Alyssa keeps nagging me to come read some more.. So here I am.
This whole series has just grabbed me and wont let go. Maybe its because I waited a few days but I started reading this and I wasn't able to put my kindle down (I even managed to do some of my exercises whilst reading I was so involved), until the bit I feared. For the first time EVER I actually put the kindle down and walked away. I needed to take a moment. The moment became five, then ten. I started to panic that I wouldn't be able to carry on reading. I made some tea, had some chocolate (did I mention the diet?), picked up the kindle and switched it back on. Re-read the last few pages and put the kindle down again. Really? Yup absolutely! I had a little more chocolate and at this point I decided I wasn't going to allow this book to beat me (or end my diet) so I stepped away from the chocolate and carried on reading. While I felt like my heart was maybe breaking along with Nicholas I almost squealed with delight when I realised we were meeting Aiden, I hissed in anger when we meet Edmond again and I actually laughed with joy near the end of the book when Alyssa exacts her revenge on him.
Now I'm faced with a dilemma. I really want to read the fourth book in the series Soulstone but its the last in the series (for now?) and im not ready for it to be over.
"Pandora's Box" centers around the very object implied by the title. A mysterious package shows up on the doorstep of the clan's home with no name or return address. Supernatural creatures are immune to the impulses given off by a charmed box that try to impel someone to open it. Humans, however, are not. Fallon, who now lives in the home with Alyssa and her clan, can't help the impulse to open the beautiful and very old mystery box. When she does, she lets loose a force that no one can see, but a force that can attack the vampires, taking their blood, and turned the spirit into something more corporeal. In order to stop the attacks, Lysander reveals that the information that they may need to help stop this spirit and force it back into the box could be at his ancestral home in Boston.
This road trip is anything but a vacation and when they arrive at the ancestral home it seems that someone beat them to the secret hiding place where Lysander kept his personal documents. Now on the radar of the local werewolf pack, Lysander, Alyssa, Nicholas, and Fallon need to figure out what's going on and why someone unleashed a Pandora's Box on them. Then a vampire from Kallisto's coven appears, and with him comes nothing but trouble. Will Lysander be able to solve the mystery of the Pandora's Box and why the first vampire was unleashed on him and his clan before they all perish to an entity they are clueless to stop?
Pandora's Box is just as fantastic as Immortalis Carpe Noctem and Hunters & Prey. Already an excellent series just by the end of book one, Katie Salidas' series just keeps getting better and better. Her writing style is majestic and keeps you completely engaged in the story. The story kept calling me back to it so I was able to read Pandora's Box in 2 evenings. There is action, adventure, and mystery that engulfs in and you almost feel like you're part of the clan. The ending of Pandora's Box makes me so glad that I have Book 4, Soulstone, sitting at home waiting for me.
Pandora’s Box was thrilling, I am so freaking emotional right now about this book. There is so much going on. I’m in shock that the story has completely shifted in to something so thrilling that my heart is racing because I needed to find out how the characters would overcome these new issues that arise. There are new characters that are brought into the story, sexy werewolves and ghost. Were the hell did they come from but they sure made an entrance. Just when you think the clan is going to have some peace a box shows up and through Fallon’s curiosity she opens the box and let loose a vengeful force that wants its blood back.
Lysander thinks he has the answer in his old books that are back in Boston so they make a trip there to get them and the story takes another twisted turn. I am at the edge of my seat. I cannot put this book down I forfeited food breaks and sleep just to make it through the story. The author simply amazes is me. Just when you think you have it all figured out you really don’t and bam there is a shift in the story that drops your bottom lip in shock. I completely love this story and I am falling in love with this series. This book complete takes you on an emotional roller-coaster ride that is thrilling, frilling, full of fear and excitement but you have no idea when the heck you are going to be drawn back into the station to get off. The book ends with a cliff hanger and my heart is pounding. Thank the book fairy (Anna) that I have the next book because I do not know if I could live with the anticipation of waiting.
My Recommendation I rated this book 5 out of 5 Purple Rant Hearts and would recommend this book and the series to anyone that loves a paranormal romance that is full of action.

A mysterious box , with a mysterious symbol in old blood with no return address shows up at your door. Do you open it, or do you ignore it ? In my case , I probably would, because I'd get curious as to what was inside. This is yet another thrilling adventure written by Katie , and one that is perhaps the most thrilling and suspenseful yet. It will keep you on the seat of your pants throughout the entire thing. Here , we follow the Peregrinus clan as they are forced to flee because of the very thing that is in the box , and they must also figure out how exactly to deal with it. I feel as if I can finally get to know all the characters and truly getting to know how they feel when Katie decides to start killing off certain characters ( akslsososkxnskoxoeodkskdm WHY? ) ... and it is also in this book where we get an introduction to the werewolves that also appear in her Little Werewolf and Olde Towne Pack series. I'm now extremely excited to read the next book in this series , and for more adventures in this world with all of the characters that we have gotten to know so far! Here's to another fantastical journey and many more with Katie! Signing off, Promisary.
May be a few minor spoilers... I did really like this book. Just not as much as the last (hence the 4 not 5 stars). I thought the story was brilliant. Lysanders house unknowingly recieved a Pandora's box. Fallon, being human was compelled to open it. The box contained the spirit of Aniketos, the first ever vampire! The spirit went on to wreak havoc on the clan that live in Lysanders home. With absolutely devastating consequences! In a quest to find ways to kill or atleast re-trap the spirit. Lysander, Alyssa, Fallon and Nicholas head to Boston to retrieve Lysanders memoirs. There they meet a tonn of great new people. Zuri and Ian, are vampires that live as a part of the local werewolf pack. They run a 'clean up' service for the local supernaturals. Ian was a fantastic new addition, he was so funny. Zuri calls him the local dog :) Yes he's a bit of a slut, but he means well. Then we meet Connor, who is the Alpha. It took me a while to warm to him. But you eventually understand that that's why his pack is so strong. He looks after them all so well, and yes he sometimes has to be a bit of a prick, but he gets the job done. I loved Connors son Aiden (the second of the pack) but wasn't too keen on his twin brother Brady (third). And I hate to say it, but Aiden is HOT! Even hotter than Lysander. I think the appeal is that Aiden has all the power and sexuality to match Lysander. But he can also go out in the day and let's not forget he can shift into a frickin wolf. HOT MUCH lol. Plus there was no naked Lysander in this book. Very disapointing! ;) Very well done Fallon, you lucky lucky girl. The group, vamps and wolves, used the help of a witch to try and trap Aniketos back in the box... I won't go any further, don't want to ruin the ending for anyone... but it really was a great story, not to be missed. But the ending broke my heart a little. Can't wait to see where the next book takes Alyssa and Lysander! ;)
In Pandora's box, Alyssa's friend Fallon opens a strange box and releases a creature determined to destroy all vampires. I cried several times throughout this story, so much pain and struggle; loss and hope. Wow! Author Katie Salidas packed this book full of emotion! I couldn't stop reading! I really enjoyed reading this book, I just wish there was more! How could you leave me hanging like that??? I don't like cliffhanger endings in books or movies - I have to wait TOO long for the rest of the story! But, OH what a story! Vampires and Werewolves, Love and Loss! Oh My! Katie Salidas definitely knew how to keep my interest in this 3rd book of her Immortalis Series! Now she has me desperate for more! I can't wait to read the next part of the Immortalis Series!
My Review of the Series: As I read through the Immortalis Series, the author, Katie Salidas, goes into a lot of detail about Lysander's past life and history with other vampires. She explains about his love for his sire, Kallisto, and of their falling out. His struggle with losing his previously turned "children," and his fear of losing Alyssa. Alyssa's struggles to adapt to the vampire life, and the desire to live in the face of certain death. As Alyssa and Lydander's story is told through each book, I was amazed at the way the characters are portrayed. They have such depth and are written so realistically. Except for the drinking blood issue, I could almost imagine them to be real. Katie Salidas has written a wonderful series of books, and I look forward to reading more of her work.
Each of these novels are written with a bit of romance, definitely some danger, and the internal struggles of a newly turned vampire and more. I enjoyed reading Katie Salidas' vampire novels. I hope you enjoy it as well. These are not a quick read, so make sure to give yourself some time to thoroughly enjoy this book series.
Having adjusted to her life as one of the undead, Alyssa thinks she's learned everything she needs to know about the supernatural world. She's content with how things are going, grateful to Lysander for the fact that she can have Fallon by her side.
Everything seems fine and dandy until a mysterious box shows up on their doorstep. The box seems to be just like any other, except for the strange markings scratched across its surface. Unable to shrug off its lure, Fallon inadvertently opens it and unleashes a very volatile entity intent on regaining that which belongs to it.
The being craves the very essence that makes Alyssa and the others creatures of the night, a gift its said to have bestowed upon them so long ago. As the entity slowly begins to strengthen, the coven realizes that they're up against something they don't really understand. It's up to them to find out as much about it as possible in hopes of defeating it and sending it back to where it came from.
Embarking on a journey in search of Lysander's old journals, the group encounters other supernatural beings along the way - beings that are weary in giving them a helping hand. It also doesn't help that Santino has tagged along for the ride. Despite their differences, the group and their new friends band together in hopes of defeating the ancient evil before it destroys them in the process.
I totally enjoyed the third book in the series. Katie gave us a further look into Lysander's old life, as well as opening our eyes to the mythology surrounding the supernatural world that she's created.
I also found Santino's part in the whole affair a tad endearing. Yes, he is the enemy, but sometimes, it's better to keep the enemy close, right? Looking forward to more of Katie's work. Totally recommend the series!
This was a great installment to the Immortalis Series. I loved the introduction to a new supernatural species - Werewolves. Salidas did a great job of not over-doing it with this phenomenal breed. Though we still see their strength, they do not overpower the actual plot of this series.
Fallon, Alyssa's best friend from human life, remains a strong character in this book. She maintains her humanity while becoming a first time, mortal member of this clan. I love the interaction between Fallon and Nicholas, the snarkiness kept things humorous and bright. Alyssa still has an inborn need to protect Fallon, but I think Fallon has grown quite a bit and can definitely defend herself.
The entire plot of this title was wonderful. With new elements, and even a few deaths, Salidas has vividly brought us into her world. As we are reminded that curiosity is still a human fault, Fallon and Alyssa open a Pandora's Box that was delivered to Lysander. This brings a whole new form of trouble to this clan. When trying to fight this unknown, they are taken to Boston where we meet a few new vamps and a werewolf pack. We are taken into the wolf way of life, learning that there are more connections between supernatural beings than was ever thought.
While learning the truth of the past, old vamps revisit and sacrifices are made. The ending of this had me reeling, and yes, Miss Katie, A Cliffhanger? Really? LOL. Way to keep your readers yearning for more. I loved it, and the ending is not what you will expect and a complete twist that I've not come across in any other reads in this genre. Overall, I enjoyed this read very much. The tension of the plot was excellent, I just thought the action that led to it moved just a tad too fast, and I wished it had been drawn out just a smidgen more. I can't wait for book four in this series!
Pandora’s Box (Immortalis Vampire Series 3) is the first time in the series that I felt the drama surrounding the conflict was warranted. From the moment of the first death, I felt that these vampires were in real peril. At the end the losses to Lysander’s coven was a definitely felt.
The introduction of werewolves changes the dynamic of this world. I don’t fully understand how the werewolves fit into this world. From there introduction they seem to take traits more from dogs more than wolves. This is one of the things I hope will be explain in Soulstone (Immortalis 4) and further entries in this series.
I like Katie Salidas’s take on Pandora’s Box. This isn’t PANDORA’s box but it functions in the same matter. Having more than one opens the series in a number of ways; anywhere in the world someone could be drawn to open one and unleash some untold and forgotten evil on the world. It’s an evil that someone feared enough to lock away in a Pandora’s Box, the evil that could be hidden around the world.
This is the best entry in the series. To have the in depth understanding of the characters’ motivations, which are highlighted in the book, the previous titles should be read. I think the change in scenery leaves Alyssa having to adapt to another substantial change in her life including the loss of her mate. These changes will keep the series from prematurely desiccating.
I received my copy as part of a blog tour for review. I have not been compensated for my review
Okay. I think we survived the spoiler. Alyssa is growing with each story, making fewer stupid mistakes. Her "I should've" phrase is getting on my nerves. Maybe you should have done that, but you didn't so stop dwelling and FIX IT NOW. And she does. She is becoming more adaptable, quicker to think on her feet, and I'm growing more attached.
I was wondering how they got to Boston when I read Dark Salvation and then went back to Immortalis and this book explains how. It is also our introduction to werewolves in this series, as well as other vampires and a different kind of supernatural society with rules and regulations that are much different than what we saw in Lysander's Las Vegas.
As the story develops, I am growing more and more attached to these characters. Ariana pissed me off right away. It was HER screw up that had Lysander ending as he did and yet she immediately demands money to fix it. What a callous female dog. No wonder everyone dislikes witches!
Oh my cliffhanger. Thankfully I already have the next book ;) Have you started reading this series yet? What do you think of the vampire society and Peregrinus clan so far?
Ms. Salidas, true to form, wastes no time in getting to the surprises in this third book in her Immortalis series. She is definitely writes I-never-saw-that-coming kind of books. There is never a lack of twists and turns, with each battle and each challenge. I have been awed by the caliber of writing in designing such storylines as she has in this series.
I thought it was interesting to watch both Lysander and Alyssa evolve through the stories in this series, individually and as mates. All in the group changed toward Alyssa in some way. The author developed many vivid and unique characters to challenge and to complement the two main ones.
In this third book, I thought ms. Salidas created the most exotic of all of the enemies the vampire clan has had to fight. In keeping with that, there was more of a mystical puzzle to figure out rather than just come up with a plan to trick and kick the enemies ass. I really liked this change. With book one basically all about vampires, and book two about vampires and one human, this book had several other beings. It shows a great progression especially considering in some way she connects all the book to one core enemy. And, the addition of spirits, werewolves and witches excited me to no end.
Now the end, hmmm…there better be another book coming soon is all I can say! LOL
Katie Salidas is a very creative and very strong author. I recommend each book in this series.
Can I tell you just how much I love this series, well I am going to say it over and over again until either you get tired and stop reading this review or buy this series.
Honestly I didn't think it could get any better but it has. This is book 3 in the Immortalis series and it just gets crazy from the very start. Katie starts by throwing me for a total loop and had me screaming at my Kindle 'NOOOOO"! I couldn't believe she went there but she did. I can't say what but it had me crying at the beginning mind you.
After I got over that shock, we are taken to Boston to try and find a way to defeat the creature that was unleashed. This is where we meet the werewolves. 'Sigh' they are quickly becoming a new favorite of mine. No I won't stop reading vampires, just saying these hot and sexy weres found a place in my heart.
We had sweet moments with Lysander and Alyssa but not too much romance in this one, but it didn't bother me I was too engrossed in the story. But I do say she did it again! I thought the first shock was bad enough but this one really threw me. I wish I could say what it was, but lets just say I don't know whether to be angry, sad or both! I am still stunned as I write this so this might be just a ramble and for that I am sorry.
If you haven't read this series, please do! I know I am immediately moving on to Soulstone, the 4th book in this series because I just have to know what happens next. Looks like another sleepless night for me.
Favorite Lines “You just can’t teach an old vampire new tricks.”
“What is done is done. We have to find out what it is and how to stop it, before it does any more damage.”
“You’re a child, Alyssa. You haven’t lived. You haven’t loved. You haven’t shared hundreds of years with someone. You have no idea what this is like. To lose someone you’ve loved for centuries… it’s like losing part of your soul,”
“That you don’t like me hitting on your best friend.”
“No matter what happens, know that I will always love you.”
Ariana has her mate, her clan, and her best friend all in her life. Things can't get any better than this! Then the house receives a strange box. Fallon and Ariana are the only ones home. Ariana thinks this is weird but, she doesn't stop Fallon when she opens it. A cold chill settles over the house. Then while sparring with Nicholas a ghost attacks Ariana. This ghost wants it's blood back! The blood that runs through the any of the Vampires for Lysanders old mate Kalisto. All hell breaks lose after that! This one introduces some oh so freaking sexy wolves! Love them! Ariana loses someone very close to her and she may even lose her mate! I'm freaking out over this ending! Cliffhanger! Now I'm dying for the next one! As always this series has everything needed to be an amazing paranormal love story!
I was given this in exchange for an honest review (RBTL)
OMG! What a book! I'm completely addicted to this series! Non stop action , nail biting suspence through out the book! This is book three in the series and the Author has wowed me , yet again! I love being wowed! This book picks up a couple of months after the last one, with Fallon finding a mysterious , very old and ornate box left on there door step, not addressed to anyone or anything. She brings it in the house and shows it to Alyssa , a vampire newbie only a few months old and her best friend. Fallon opens the box, which ends up being a Pandora's Box, with a very evil and ravenous ancient being, that feeds and kills supernaturals. In the terror that ensues the clan must flee to Boston to search for Lysanders ancient memoirs which may hold clues to this evil entity. Once in Boston , they find death and the memoirs missing. They must make new alliances with a wolf pack. Will they find the answers before being consumed? This book , was fantastic! I so loved watching the hunters become the hunted and prey. I loved that we got to meet werewolves and even a witch, old enemies and new ones , that Ancient Gods and mythology were a part of this book as well. I went threw basically every emotion while reading this book , I was so absorbed! Needless to say I could not put it down and am most defiantly going to be reading the next book! I highly recommend this series and book!
So far the best book in the Immortalis series! Loved the plot of the story, of course because the author wove stories based on Greek mythology. I really enjoyed reading this book though I have to mention one disappointment - lack of romance between Lysander and Alyssa. Lysander's so serious in this book, but oh well, so glad the author added some more "wow" characters this time - more vampires and weres - oh I love werewolves! The clan met with some of the local werepack when they visited Lysander's house in Boston to retrieve his original writings. And there they met the local weres including the super hot Aiden, the second of the werepack - Fallon's so lucky to have him!
I know I mentioned before in book 1 that a series should have OMG moments. This book has a lot of OMG moments. I was heartbroken when a character died and was even more heartbroken when this book ended - leaving us with a cliffhanger! According to the author, one more character will die in book 4... sad... sad... sad...
All in all, it was a great book, a great series, highly recommended for vampire-romance lovers out there.
wow in this one which is pandora's box which holds a very ancient vampire .. who wants their blood back but why go after Lysander and his clan .... in this book there are two casualties .. one there may be hope for the other not so much but they are part of Alyssa's clan ... in this they work with wolves in another state in which they go to get Lysander's memiors his journals .. in which they can't find when they do get to where Lysander once lived .. question is whom life lays in the balance can they be saved or is all hope lost ?? also do they find Lysanders memiors // and can they find a way to trap the ancient vampire soul is is hope lost for the whole vampire line .. to find out well buy read and review and read the rest of the immortals books 4 thru 6 to finish this awesome book series that has kept me at the edge of my seat .. everytime i have read each book so far ...
