I write stories about the apocalypse so that I don't need to work a real job. I grew up reading Stephen King and still haven't fully recovered. I'm currently ending the world in my new series Under the Breaking Sky.

The tension and excitement never let up! Things are changing in a rather chilling manner. The blinded ones are becoming more intelligent, more evolved. The ghosts appear to nearly everyone. People are becoming more unsettled, more anxious, more fearful. Then there is a birth. Oh my goodness! And now I have to wait 6 months for the next book in this series! OMG!
I'm out of this series. I can't read the rest of it. I don't identify with most of the characters anymore, and I am no longer the tiniest bit interested in the plot. Authors probably need to realise, even if it's just for the sake of their wallets, that very few people can read a series of eight books in which the plot progresses slower than a tortoise just to keep the series going. I enjoyed the first three books, so if it ended in book 4, it would have been great.
Under the Breaking Sky just took on a new dimension.
As I travel along this journey through the Under the Breaking Sky series Blind Fate gives me the impression I’ve been treated to a verbal/prose orchestra. Up until this book the reader has witnessed all the players showing up, tuning their instruments, playing some basic songs until suddenly the music takes on a frenzied pace. Blind Fate takes the series on its journey to an unspecified destination by introducing jealousy and hurt into the mix. What will result from these emotions experienced by one member of the group are yet to be seen, furthermore deception regarding the appearance of ghosts or the banishment of ghosts begins to take center stage.
All this underlying tension and plenty of action moves this story along in a way the furthers this reader’s addiction to Under the Breaking Sky. Thank goodness I have the last two audio books just waiting to be listened to as soon as this review is written, Of course the addiction to these audiobooks I’ve spoken of previously is enabled by Spencer Dillehay’s exceptional talents as a narrator.
Book 6 in the Under the Breaking Sky series and I love how with Nick's books your are always able to pick back up right where you left off easily. I love how cleverly Nick is able to bring the character's together and intertwine their stories. Once again, we are often left hanging at the end of chapters, making it virtually impossible to put the book down. With this instalment, I did actually feel a little sense of hope, but then it was soon squashed, I really didn't know where the series will lead, but I was left with an unsettling feeling after this!
Another fast paced instalment and I can't wait for the next book!
Audiobook: I was entertained by book 6 in the "Under The Breaking Sky" series as much as the earlier books. The story has become more complex with each succeeding book, and I recommend that the books be read in order. Each book picked up where the last book left off, and each showed changes in character development as the series progressed. I have become very wrapped up in the characters, and the events that happened to them. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Spencer Dillehay's narration has been great, and his performance has contributed to my enjoyment of the series. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
At this point, I'm starting to wonder why I'm even listening to these audio books anymore. It just keeps getting worse and worse every book. Between the unnecessary comments about the "bare, budding tits" of the zombies, and the ridiculous amount of comments about "she seems like she would have been pretty before she went blind and the character feels his balls clench in response", to the uncohesive characters and storyline, to now the just incredibly weird other dimension murder baby? Come on... I almost feel like I'm listening to the remaining books at this point to just see how bad it gets.

Another good book in the series. As I said before this series is reminiscent of Stephen King's "The Stand". Many characters to love and hate but you can't wait to find out more about or what will happen with or to them. This book gives details about an important character who was briefly mentioned before. We get to see where this person has been and how they are connected. Also what they feel is happening and needs to be done. This book also lets us know that we are getting closer to a conclusion soon but that there is still a little bit more to be revealed.
In Blind Fate, while the psychological exploration of people losing their minds due to the crack in the sky was compelling the overall story felt stagnant. Even though there was a lot of action, it didn’t feel like much was happening in terms of plot development. The chaos and intensity kept things engaging but at this point in the series, it felt like the same elements were being recycled without real progression. I enjoyed the tension, but I was hoping for more movement in the overall storyline. Also why are new characters being introduced when there seems to be altogether too many already.
I would recommend reading in order. Great reads....they followed each other timely (I hate when you have to wait so long between books that you have to reread the last one to get caught up), so that was a plus. Good characters with enough development that you get to know and understand them and their motives.
Good story!! It’s good but getting a little crazy!! I liked the beginning of the story best and I’m not totally into what’s happening here towards the end of the story but I’m invested now and want to see how it ends!
Loved it, absolutely brilliant, characters were very good, we watched them grow and we watched some of them fail, 8 books read in 4 days , also love the fact that nicks books are set in Denmark which makes a nice change.
Ok. Book 6….or part 6 as I’ve come to think of this series, answered some questions and advanced the story more. Another cliffhanger, of course, but only two books to go. If you read book (part) 1, you’re going to have to finish!
Alright this series isn't moving in the direction I thought it would, it's becoming very supernatural but that puts a nice twist on the zombie apocalypses we are used to seeing. Though the story is moving very very slow and could have been a bit more compact and maybe ended after the sixth book now
By far one of the best apocalyptic type series I’ve ever read. There’s 8 books in the series and I sped through them because I couldn’t get enough! Nicholas is an incredible story teller. His novels are full of substance and no fluff. I can’t think of one instance during this series or any of his others that I found myself skipping paragraphs because there was no purpose in them. No unnecessary details. The character development in this series is surprising but makes sense. I love that no character is “safe” in his series. It makes the story unpredictable.
