In Denver, in the spring of 1989, Billie Libra wakes from a recurring nightmare. The dreams have intensified suddenly, and everyone in her life seems to have an opinion as to why. She is torn- she must find the cause of the dreams, but she cannot, because the images they invoke are simply too painful. She turns to alcohol, drugs, sex; anything that will make her tired enough to sleep through the dreams, but the more she tries, the more complicated her life gets. Across the miles, another woman dreams. Tess Morgan, brought up with a strong belief in the metaphysical, recognizes her visions as memories of a woman she loved and lost tragically in a former life. She knows she must let go of this love, and her best friend, a Witch named Stacey, knows how to break the ties. But Stacey doesn’t know just how far Tess is willing to go in order to let go of her past, and neither Billie nor Tess yet knows that the promise they made in their passion for each other was so powerful it could never be broken by any force - not even murder.
