is a first-hand experiential guide to the process which medieval alchemists represented as the transmutation of lower substances into higher ones: lead into gold if you will. To Richard and Iona Miller the transformation goes far deeper than that-it is an inner change which leads to wholeness integration and flowering of the total personality. In the language of depth psychology as well as alchemy the authors show how to forge an intimate connection with the nurturing powers of the universe-and also with the lost part of ourselves.
There is a reason this book only has 32 reviews at the time I'm rating it. It is DENSE. I read it per a recommendation from my brother, and I'm glad I did, but I wouldn't have chosen it on my own.
Towards the beginning, the authors talk about how many people have religious beliefs that don't fit into an organized religion, so this book offers them something else. But the farther I read, the more I realized that they had just taken from multiple religions/psychologies/viewpoints and mushed them into one. So, if you want to see how Jungian psychology, Christianity, Judaism, Lambsprinck, Greek mythology, yoga, alchemy, and other ideologies are all interrelated, this could be interesting for you.
This is a trip through a medieval text as a jungian exploration. Although some of the analogies seemed ill fitting, it did conjure a curiousity for me to go back and read some jung texts on my bookshelf.
