WHAT WAS HE UP TO?

When Georgina Lambert first met Quintus Finnig, he didn't say a word to her, so she assumed he wasn't interested. But weeks later he unexpectedly turned up on her doorstep, sent her a fur coat and flowers--then "kidnapped" her, claiming concern for her safety!

Georgina was definitely intrigued by this man who moved in mysterious ways-- the only man who'd ever set fire to her blood. Her family had already warned her of Quint's unsuitability, but she was willing to gamble that beneath his street-smart exterior lay the answer to all her dreams ....

I originally rated this a 5 and it has aged a bit and would probably go 3 now, so I'm putting it at 4 stars.

The hero is one of those alphas who doesn't talk much and the heroine is one of those who everyone who meets her falls in love. They end up having to spend time alone at a cabin during a snowstorm after he "kidnaps" her to keep her safe from others.

The Lambert family was very different. There were 5 girls who go by boy's names and have tons of confidence in themselves. Georgina exemplifies that confidence in her life, which was only missing a man. She became obsessed with Finnig after meeting him at her sisters' wedding and the obsession wasn't one sided. But Finnig doesn't think he deserves someone like her.

I like this one best in the series because Georgina and Quint stand together against all opposition. But it’s also very clear that the author is a bit classist in her characters attitudes. There’s a lot of privilege in the Sawyers, Lamberts and Behrs and it’s implied that a suitor would have to come from a similar background to be suitable. There’s also a lot of focus on looks, which I am finding tiresome.
