Tim Green, for many years a star defensive end with the Atlanta Falcons, is a man of many talents. He's the author of such gripping books for adults as the New York Times bestselling The Dark Side of the Game and a dozen suspense novels, including Exact Revenge and Kingdom Come. Tim graduated covaledictorian from Syracuse University and was a first-round NFL draft pick. He later earned his law degree with honors. Tim has worked as an NFL analyst for FOX Sports and as an NFL commentator for National Public Radio, among other broadcast experience. 3.5 stars. It had a winning premise and while I liked reading it I almost forgot about it after I've read it. Finished pretty quickly but have forgotten to review it and mostly what happened. But it was a good book nevertheless

Jack Ruskin is an attorney who turns to murder after his teenaged daughter is kidnapped and raped. Amanda Lee is an FBI agent, torn between her job and her family, who is investigating the murders.

This book was definitely fast paced, although I found it pretty unbelievable. McGrew is pretty much the worst. I get that he is supposed to be cocky, brash and full of himself, but I think Green overdid the negative attributes. I found his character to absolutely dreadful and obnoxious. Amanda is more like able, but she is supposed to be a rising star in the FBI, yet she freezes while her partner gets murdered and falls asleep on a stakeout?

The book had a good ending. There was plenty of tense scenes. There was a lot of action. I would probably read another Tim Green novel.

It wasn't good, nor was it bad. Interesting characters, decent plot. A fair amount of predictability on some actions and outcomes. It was a little bit too constructed to fit perfectly, and I didn't find myself tense with anticipation or anything like that.

The writing style was respectable and the pacing of the story spanned well - not too short, nor too long. Overall it was a quick, relatively easy read.

Considering some of the delicate topics (rape), compared to other thrillers I've read that have covered the same or similar themes, it was relatively tame overall.

I would've liked to feel a bit more while reading - there was no particular thrill or attachment to the characters, I felt no anger towards the rapists, and the main characters were all cookie-cut a little too perfectly to fulfill their roles I the narrative, and didn't feel realistic to me. Although, admittedly, I loathed McGrew - what a slimy guy, yuck.

The story of a man whose daughter is raped and tortured. Her attacker is given a light sentence based on the judicial system not allowing some evidence not to be used because of a law that protects evil doers at the expense of the victims. The man decides to become a one person avenger against evil. Involved is an FBI agent and a police detective, Mcgrew who is more interested in getting headlines than justice. The detective has some political clout which he lets people know.

3-star book for borrowing the Charles Bronson/Bruce Willis "Death Wish" plot, but 4-stars for an exceptional, action-packed thriller...perfect for the Spring Break beach...neat confluence of the hunted & the hunters leaves us with an exceptionally satisfying thriller as Jack Ruskin, a father of a daughter damaged by a serial rapist, hunts serial sex crime criminals...good stuff!!!

This is a great mystery read. Jack Ruskin, the main character, is a successful lawyer whose 15 year old daughter was kidnapped and raped. He becomes the Fifth Angel of the Apocalypse in seeking justice for families sharing similar experiences. Follow the works of FBI agents Amanda Lee and McGrew as they identify and pursue Ruskin.

Difficult to believe in too many areas. If the point was making the local police and FBI look inept, it succeeded. The narrator of the audiobook has such a monotone voice that it really took concentration not to just block everything he was saying completely out.

This wasn't a bad book to read. The author is from my home state-I like seeing local people that have written books. I often wonder what or why someone wants to write a book. Many of us have probably thought about it, but never had the nerve to do it. Anyways, this book is about a lawyer, written by a lawyer, that has turned into a vigilante years after his daughter was kidnapped and held captive for 10 days and was tortured and other horrible things. As a result, she has shut down, lives in a facility where she receives treatment to try and come out of the shell she has put herself into. He visits her, she either doesn't respond or she becomes so upset that they suggest to him to not visit for awhile. Over the years, his marriage falls apart, his ex wife blames him, he blames himself because he was supposed to pick his daughter up and he was late. That is when she was taken. As a lawyer, he knows how criminals can get off from doing many of the crimes they have committed. The man responsible for the state his daughter is in, is one of those men. Many of the evidence was thrown out and as a result, he only gets a few years in prison. He begins by finding men that have committed crimes against young girls/boys and women and decides he is going to do what the legal system failed to do. He is going to execute them. He is also forming a new relationship during all this and continuing to work at the firm he works for. Soon, witnesses start describing a man that they have seen before these men are shot and killed. When a detective takes the case, he is set on finding who it is. Things start to come together, he is paired with a FBI agent to find this man. He starts to get a little careless, and soon, they figure out who he is. They set him up to catch him in the act, only it goes awry and he manages to get away. He also goes to the aid of the FBI agent when she learns that her children are in danger. In the end, he is caught, goes to trial and goes to prison. When he gets out after his time is up, the woman he was starting a relationship with is the one that picks him up and they go back home together. Also, when he visits his daughter, he discovers she has had a break through and actually calls him daddy and doesn't get frightened by him. Now, I really would've liked to have read more suspense that lead up to the killings of the men he chose. Right away, it was like, I don't like that they are out of prison and no one cares what they've done. So, he goes into his plans. It would've been nice to have to figure out who was killing them, instead of already knowing. This wasn't a bad story, one can imagine that this sort of thing may and could happen. A parent that can't handle what has happened to their child no longer and wants revenge on the person that harmed them. The ex wife was only mentioned, there was no interaction with her. Did she move away? Maybe the author could've had the readers guessing if maybe it was her doing these crimes. So many ways it could've been written. Personally, it needed more suspense and sitting on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who it was before it was finally revealed.
