Surviving a hit-and-run accident, Dr. Mark Sloan, plagued by amnesia, is determined to find the truth, and, during the course of his investigation, stumbles upon a mystery involving a series of strange deaths that occured in the same hospital parking lot where he was nearly killed. Original.

He's written and/or produced many TV shows, including Diagnosis Murder, SeaQuest, and Monk and he co-created the Hallmark movie series Mystery 101.
Lee Goldberg is such a clever writer, so enjoyable to read! Add Dick Van Dyke as Dr. Mark Sloan and who can resist? I enjoyed the twist in this one, even though I could see it coming from a mile away!
Dr. Mark, plagued by amnesia, is going to great lengths to find out what's going on. In the process he stumbles across a number of murders that occurred in the lot where he was nearly killed.
I have been reading the MONK series by Lee Goldberg and one day this summer I took the grandchildren to the library. As we walked in I spotted a table with papperbacks that the library was selling for a quarter. I began to browse through the books and discovered that Lee Goldberg also writes a series of DIAGNOSIS MURDER books. THE DOUBLE LIFE IS A SURPRISINGLY GOOD STORY, AND A THIRD OF THE WAY THROUGH THIS BOOK YOU THINK TO YOURSELF WHATS GOING ON? AFTER THAT MYSERY BEGINS TO UNRAVEL AND THE SUSPENSE BUILDS. THE DOUBLE LIFE IS FULL OF SURPRISES. MID WAY THROUGH THE BOOK I WENT TO LEE GOLDBERG.COM AND DISCOVERED THIS IS THE SEVENTH IN A SERIES OF EIGHT DIAGNOSIS MURDER BOOKS THAT HE HAS WRITTEN. I WILL DEFINITELY BE READING MORE OF THIS SERIES.
I've been a fan of this series since the beginning. I liked being tossed in the deep end with Mark as he tries to figure out what happened to him and how it relates to the greater mystery. I pounded through this in one sitting because I was so curious about how it would resolve. I was not disappointed.
Dr. Sloan wakes up from a coma to find he's forgotten the last two years of his life, including his new wife. Will working on a mystery help him get his life back? The characters are great as always, but the plot just didn't quite work the way it was supposed to. Still entertaining.
