Not the best of the novelisations, with non-canonical lore. I'm not sure the author watched the show; as it's licensed I'd expect the simple mistakes to have been picked up by an editor familiar with the franchise.
The appears to be written for grade and middle schoolers. It’s obvious that the writer never watched the show. The book says Gabrielle is from the town of Craxius instead of Potidaea, and that her parents are dead. Xena has a shield instead of a chakram. Argo isn’t mentioned but there is a magical horse named Starshine. There is also no subtext in this book.
