Interesting book, I did not realize that there was so much written and so much interest on How Crockett died at the Alamo. My 1st intro to Crockett was from Walt Disney and for many years I thought Crockett died swinging his musket ,going down fighting. I read several books on the Alamo, then came the John Wayne movie and the way he depicted Crockett's death I thought was total bullshit, I did like the movie but that ending did not fit. The 2004 movie with Billy Bob Thornton playing Crockett was very good, and though it shows Crockett being executed I do not get the impression he surrendered I think he was overwhelmed or was to exhausted and was captured.
