A fresh, funny novel about coming out and getting a life, Trip Sheets chronicles the adventures of Cath Rahven, a street-savvy cabbie in the Midwest, dropping in and out of unsatisfying relationships with men, who decides to change her life.
I first read this book about 6 years before and really liked it, putiing in my "lending library." The problem was that I could remember almost nothing about it so I decided to re-read it and found it to be quite insightful in parts but mostly mundane, except for the first chapter perhaps. It read like a short story in which the author decided to add other anecdotes and stories rather than a novel. nothing special but it has its merits.
Disclaimer: I read this book because I met Ellen Hawley and got to know her this year.
That said, I liked this book. One of the things I liked very much is how minor characters are very well written. There is a great deal of emotional intelligence that went into the book.
Finally, I very much liked how the book wrapped up. No, all the loose ends are not tied, but the main character's growth is confirmed.
