This review is from: Ruff Life (Kindle Edition)
Ruff Life is a sweet little story about two children, Sabra (deaf) and David (hearing), who spend the summer with their grandparents on Anna Maria Island.
The book is a swift read, with lots of interesting characters. The children are introduced to the people of the community and find some not so nice characters along the way. Sabra and David are two very nice children, and strive to help and understand others. Sabra is deaf and she and her brother both sign and encourage their grandparents to learn. Their adventures and good deeds revolve around the retirement community where their grandparents live and the surrounding area. Helping others and solving mysteries is a central theme for this book. It reminds me a bit of The Boxcar Children books that I read when I was young.
Although Ruff Life is outside of the usual genera of books I read, I really enjoyed it. I think this is a book that can be shared with the family and I would recommend it for anyone 10 and older, younger children may enjoy the story as well. I think it would be a great book for sharing or reading aloud to the kids.
